Why Early Access?

“We don’t want to toot our own horn too much, but Skyfront’s approach to locomotion is pretty damn unique on the current VR market. That means an enormous amount of details to figure out and test. We are using our time in EA to make sure that the final version of Skyfront is as thrilling as we envision it!

As a small indie developer, the support and feedback we get from our players during EA is what keeps us pushing hard to polish Skyfront to its shiny perfection!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our plan is to spend about eight to ten months on development. But that being said, community feedback is what ultimately shapes the final version of Skyfront. We want to make the experience as fun and engaging as possible and we will keep working tirelessly until we get there.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Skyfront is set to have:

- Five game modes, incl. Single Deathmatch, 3v3 Elimination and Capture The Flag;
- Five to six maps;
- 20+ weapons and special abilities to cater to the player’s personal preferences;
- A progression system;
- Customizable character assets;
- A play against AI feature;
- Additional single player content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Skyfront currently has:

- Two gorgeous zero-gravity maps – Greece and Egypt;
- Two game types – Deathmatch & Team Deathmatch;
- Five weapons + one Locomotion Device with a grappling hook function;
- Five special abilities, incl. Shield and Shockwave;
- A private room function;
- Bot Shootout;

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Skyfront will have a gradual price increase as we release major new features and content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our primary channels for chatting with our community are Skyfront’s Discord channel and our social media. That is where we get to know the community and toss around new ideas.
We also regularly post updates and announce new features and bug fixes on Skyfront’s Steam Community page and on our dev blog. The plan is to release updates about every two weeks or so.”

Skyfront Skirmish: Rapid Fire + Patch 12



Patch 12 is pretty straightforward:
  1. We fixed a bug that allowed the player to still use the thruster while holding a weapon with both hands.
  2. Our minigun is finally here! And it is aptly named the Locust!

Skyfront Skirmish: Rapid Fire

February 23rd 4 PM UTC until February 26th 5 AM UTC
The new Locust minigun is alarmingly fun and potent! It’s ram-packed with power, bullets – a whopping 200 rounds before you need to reload! – and hours of entertainment!
One-hand it if you think you can handle the recoil. Two-hand it to improve your aim and pepper your opponents with the true might of the gun!
The player to get the most kills with the Locust minigun before the end of the Skirmish will take the prize!

Date and Time
Skyfront Skirmish: Rapid Fire will begin Friday February 23rd at 4 PM UTC and end Monday February 26th at 5 AM UTC.

Prizes
First place – $ 50 Steam gift card
Second place – $ 25 Steam gift card
Third place – $ 10 Steam gift card

Rules
  1. Players will compete for the most kills with the Locust minigun during a single Deathmatch game.
  2. Your death count will not affect your chance of winning – we are only looking at your kills with the Locust minigun.
  3. A player’s high score with the Locust will be registered at the end of the game or when the player exits the game.
  4. You may use other weapons and special abilities, but only the kills you make using the Locust will be counted towards your high score.
  5. Players are forbidden from teaming up and assisting each other or using bugs or glitches with the intention of getting a better high score.
  6. Abusive behaviour will not be tolerated in-game, especially in VOIP – keep it friendly!
  7. The high scores will be counted for games with a minimum of 3 players at the start of the game. NOTE! If the game starts with three players and two players leave before the end of the game, the high score of the last remaining player will be locked the moment the second to last player leaves the game.
  8. The winners are the players with the top three highest scores at the end of the Skirmish.
  9. Arcade accounts are excluded from the Skirmishes (see Important Notes below).
  10. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the Skirmish.
  11. Skyfront will attempt to contact the winners of the Skirmishes, but to guarantee that you get your due prize asap, please contact the devs on Skyfront’s social media or Discord channel.

Important Notes
High scores from arcades will not be included in the Skirmishes. Separate events will be organised for arcades. That being said, arcade players are still more than welcome to join in on the Skirmishes, but their scores will not be counted towards anything.

All Skyfront Skirmishes will be moderated to ensure no one is cheating or breaking any rules.

Skyfront Skirmish – Overview
Skyfront Skirmishes are weekend challenges that Skyfront organises every couple of weeks. During each Skirmish, players will compete for a certain high score (e.g. most kills, best multikill, killstreak, most kills with a certain weapon, etc.) that will be announced the week of the event. Play time is limited to the duration of the Skirmish and all weapons and special abilities are allowed, unless stated otherwise (e.g. if the Skirmish is devoted to a specific weapon).

Each future Skyfront Skirmish and the prizes of future Skirmishes will be announced separately.

Update to Yesterday's Patch

Everybody makes the occasional blunder, and it seems we may have made some in yesterday's patch.

We're super grateful that you guys are so vocal and honest with us. We couldn't do this without your feedback!

So here we go:
  • The reload time of the shotgun has been nerfed back to 2 secs from 1.5 secs;
  • The distance of the grappling hook has been buffed up to 70 metres. However, we did nerf the grapple pull acceleration by a factor of 0.3 to limit the maximum speed that can be achieved;
  • We fixed a bug that calculated incorrect headshot values for all raycast weapons;
  • And the Game End Menu animations have currently been disabled due to several bugs.
