About This Game

In the dark days of the end of World War Two amidst the ruins of Berlin, one bullet can change history…

Sniper Elite V2 is an award-winning and authentic World War II sniping experience. You are elite US sniper Karl Fairburne. Parachuted into Berlin amidst the Germans’ final stand, your mission is to prevent Nazi V2 rocket program technology from falling into the hands of the besieging Red Army. You must aid key scientists keen to defect to the US, and terminate those who would help the Russians.

Take advantage of authentic weaponry, learn how to stalk your targets, fortify your position, set up the shot, use your skill, patience and cunning to achieve your mission. Stealth gameplay is the key as you find yourself trapped between two desperate armies in a race against time.

Watch as the celebrated ‘bullet cam’ from Sniper Elite returns, bloodier and more gruesome than ever – skilful shots are rewarded with a slow-motion flight of the bullet, then targets are graphically rendered in X-Ray as the bullet enters and destroys your victim. Organs shred, bones splinter, teeth shatter, as the true impact of the sniper’s bullet is brought to life.

As World War Two ends and the Cold War begins, every shot counts. Use it wisely.

Key features:

  • Sniping Simulation - Sniper Elite V2 features detailed sniping simulation with advanced ballistics, taking into account gravity, wind, velocity, bullet penetration, aim stability and more. Guaranteed to provide players with the most realistic simulation of military sharpshooting yet available.
  • X-Ray Kill Cam - Amazing ‘kill cam’ technology showcases what really happens when a bullet enters an enemy’s body, allowing players to see hearts and lungs tear, livers burst, and bones shatter.
  • Authenticity - The game features authentic World War II Berlin locations as well as vehicles, weapons such as the Springfield M1903 the Gewehr 43 and the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30, and uniforms modeled after the original versions.
  • Use the Environment - The slightest changes in the environment need to be taken into account to move into the perfect position, observe the quarry, take the shot and slip away unnoticed.
  • Sniper's Choice - Players will often find themselves facing a choice of the perfect shot that leaves them catastrophically exposed or a more difficult route that means they can continue their mission.
  • Multiplayer Game Types - Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Team Distance King, Distance King, Team Dogtag Harvest, Dogtag Harvest and Capture the Flag.

New Content Available For Your Game!

Since its release, Sniper Elite V2 has been continually supported by Rebellion, adding new features and content - including an additional 10 free multiplayer maps.

Four additional single-player mission packs are available for purchase, including the ultimate sniping mission - Kill Hitler. Each DLC pack also contains 2 new authentic weapons for your arsenal.

The Good: I got the game for free

The Bad: The levels and game-play are repetive. Often times you will find yourself in the "same" buidling even in different places in the same map. The encounters tend to blur together after a while. Its all the same stuff over and over. I would say that the only difference is the back-drop, but even that is mostly the same.

The ugly: The AI is insanely bad. Enemies will happly re-position themselves in the same exact spot, the spot that contains a pile of corpses and proceed to quickly add to that pile. The game sends waves of enemies after you, and each wave will do the same exact thing. So you just fight the battle you just fought 2 or even 3 times in a row. It is also annoying how you can "clear" an area of enemies, and then step over some invisible line and suddenly a new wave of guys appears out of thin-air. Sometimes from rooms behind you with no possible way for them to have gotten past you.

Once the AI is "aggroed", it will always know where you are. It is both amusing and sad to see a bunch of the AI dudes tracking you though solid walls, standing there shooting at you endlessly. They almost NEVER seek you out beyond thier scripted pattern of movement. They could just run into a building or up some stairs to get you, but unless it is a scripted event they will stand there shooting at you through the walls, floors or celings.

I have played enough of this game and I just can't take it anymore. If you are bored, I wouldn't pay more than $1.99 for it. I did manage to get 7 hours out of it before I couldn't stomach it anymore.

I remember playing first Sniper Elite and, excluding incredibly helpful glitch allowing you to use your sniper without holding it in your hands (you just needed to use „aim” button :P), it was waaaaaaaay harder than V2, but I think it was equal in fun from playing. Rebellion spent waaaaaay too much time comparing their game to Call of Duty (regenerating health, „unexpected plot twists” ending in open battle and killfest, half of game in paid DLC etc.), camera works horribly (I can't imagine playing this on hardest difficulty where you don't have that indicator showing you that AI sees you, most of times I see walls instead of what is actually in front of me) and Welrod has absurd amount of reserve ammo (6/16, compare it to Luger's 8/49), but X-Ray kill cam really pays up for this. And ability to lure AI into traps, it was hardly possible in SE, but in V2 it is pretty easy, but still fun. Kill one guy with Welrod, put a land mine on him, set trip mine in front of him and throw a rock. If hopefully somehow AI won't see you sitting behind cover, then you should see nice „boom”.

There is also one bad thing about this game: maps seem to be split into some kind of sections, where you can do anything you want and only few NPCs will be alerted – and there is no way shot from Springfield wouldn't be heard in whole facility set up in some kind of freaking cave. But hey, I got this game from giveaway and I didn't paid single cent for it. I shouldn't complain too much about it :)

The game has a lot of flaws but is pretty decent nonetheless. They really drive home the point that this is a sniping game by giving you a very small amount of ammo for your tommygun and pistol. It means that 90% or higher of your kills will be by sniping. It makes it frustrating at times because you have to face off against a squad of guys, ten to twenty guys usually, and snipe them all down. It is not hard at all, just that sniping gets old after a while. The bullet cam is one of the cooler ideas that I have ever seen in a game but unless you turn down its frequency in the options then you are going to be seeing it hundreds of times in the game and it gets old real fast. The realism is entirely absent and the game is highly inconsistent. What I mean is that sometimes a bullet through the chest of an enemy will kill him but a lot of times it just does 50% dmg to him and he stands there like nothing happened to him and fires exactly the same as before you shot him. Tanks also have external gas tanks on them that blow the tank up when shot. Gee, if only it were that simple in real war. Enemy snipers also are psychic. They are magically aware of your exact location and pull off pinpoint headshots on you even when you are somewhere that they should have no idea about, even when you have only snuck around a corner into view without making any noise and they are very far away across the map. The AI is also dumb as fk. They stand up out of cover and stand out in the open the entire game, making snipe-killing them a cinch. Snipers are somewhat hidden but when you see where they are they make almost no effort to re-adjust when you fire their way. They just stand and fire in a snipe battle with you until you quickly kill them. Use your tommygun and pistol ammo very, very sparingly, as you get such a small amount and there are usually no places to get any more ammo during a level until the next level starts and you are magically at full ammo again.

I tried the MP briefly and I have to say it was fun. And surprisingly it still has enough of a fan base that you will find games to join. It has all the classic game modes too: dm, tdm, and ctf, and several co-op modes.

The game has more of a arcade feel to it than an actual sniping game but it is still a pretty decent game that is optimized pretty good and runs smoothly. It can be fun for a once-through, but it is only about as good as the average professional review of the game which was between 60 and 70 out of 100.

The campaign for Sniper Elite V2 is short, simple, but entertaining. You play as an OSS agent that runs around Berlin during World War II, hoping to find a sleeping soldier on his job just to shoot his head off, or to plant a land mine right underneath them. Not to forget the awesome killcams you get of the bullet going straight into the enemy's skull when you get a headshot, or when you shoot them in the crotch. Either way, they're both still very, very pleasing.

Game graphics are a good upgrade compared to Sniper Elite v1. Enemies are not too bad when using Elite difficulty. They will hunt you in teams on ground level and keep going after you as you try to evade them. AI could be better if enemies, once alerted, always kept under cover and went from cover to cover. The game is mostly interesting when played with a friend in coop : 2 players, doing campain together, on Elite difficulty with no aiming help. In coop MP it's ok. You can play it alone, will keep you occupied for 20 to 25 hours. What is missing is a map editor, something where you could load any game map and MP map, put enemies, make patrols, or static surveillance with angle of surveillance (an editor like GRAW did offer would be nice). With such an editor, we could create a lot of maps. Add random spawning of enemies on map when you get spotted, random enemies positions and it would be great.

Since V3 is out now and offers a 4 player coop, I would suggest this game mostly for playing campain with 2 players.
Alone it's ok but not as fun as in coop. I did not suffer any bug nor crash while playing it from Windows 7 64-bit.

If you're a fan of near-realistic sniper gameplay. I would get this.

Fantastic feels as you face off an enemy sniper on rooftops, then cat and mouse the situation, with glares of rifles, and seconds to move out of the way of coming shots, the bullet-cam action sequences are fantastically rewarding, seeing your target die by being shot in the testicles, way to go. hahaha

Overall great game, lack of weapons however, customization, lack of kill methods are just the only criticisms I have about this, great campaign, nice enemies and the storyline and visuals makes you wonder about times past, and making your mark in history.

I decided to only note down the cons and one pro about this game, so that this review doesn't get ridiciolously* long:

The AI. It's just bad. Their reactions are weak, and they are dumb to the point that surprise attacks from behind are too easy.

When they shoot at you, then they are unrealistically good at doing that, especially snipers. How can a sniper run around like his ♥♥♥ is on fire, and meanwhile, make perfect quickscopes that hit you everytime? And the worst is that a level has like 4 of these at the same time. Or how can a sniper see me through thick smoke, 1 mile away, and hit me with such pixel accuracy? This is just a thing that kills the fun of the game most of the time.

Multiplayer is pretty boring and not really worth it, but I can't criticize multiplayer any further because I haven't really played it.

The co-op mode is definently great and worth it, and is even the best part of this game.

All in all, I give this game a 6/10 rating. It's not THAT bad, it is still playable, but as mentioned, the AI is just something that is below okay. I'll still give it a "Recommended" mark.

*or however you spell it :V

Just don't. This game will break your heart like the ending of Mass Effect. SO much potential and some truly AMAZING moments. Then the game kicks you...HARD. For a game that is designed to allow you to snipe, there's entirely too many moments where you're just not allowed to. The biggest offense is that bad guys just pop into areas when you pass invisible checkpoints. "Hey I just cleared this entire area....BLAM! Where did that guy come from???" Speaking of checkpoints, the lack of a quicksave is just plain STUPID. Also, you never know when you get an autosave so everytime you die it's a surprise on how much of the lame game you're going to have to replay. Just don't.

This is a beautiful game I must say!

The game's genre should be really action/stealth because I find that the majority of the time you are out to snipe people's head from range and still remain hidden. This is actually crucial if you are playing this on harder difficulty, but I just played it on normal difficulty and still found that being stealthy and doing stealth kills is a plus rather than go charging and spraying.

What I didn't like so far was the fact that there were no *silenced* sniper rifles, or at least an option to add a silence to it. Because I prefer that all my shots from out of line of sight be quiet shots rather than me kill one person and then a battalion of troops somehow find out where I am camping and start blasting my area!

But I suppose back in the day - there weren't really any silenced sniper rifles, were there? If that were the case in this game is trying to be as close as possible to what it was like back in the WW2 days with what weapons and arms existed at the time, ok fair enough I won't argue with that; however, if not - I do wish there was some sort of silencer for the rifles. Though if this is really an *action* intended game rather than stealth/action, ok I can understand them not adding a attachable/detachable silencer of sorts to any gun.

Yes there is a silenced pistol I use to do stealth kills, but that won't get a target that's 1km away from where you stand/crouch/prone!

But that's it, everything else is perfectly fine!

What's next is to find some people that I can do co-op mode with throughout the entire game to see what that's like.

I'm definitely looking forward to Sniper Elite 3. Might grab the first one to see how it all started.

The AI are ridiculous, the sensitivity is always too slow, and you die so easily. The only saving qualities are the graphics and multiplayer. 4/10 do not reccomend. Fix the damned AI.
