What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have a novel combat system - a mix of RPG and small scale RTS - and it requires careful optimization. We want to gather the experience of a wider range of players to balance the combat to the most commonly played styles and reward those players who think outside the box.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to release the final version 01.03.2018. We added Book Two on 20.12.2017. While the game remains in Early Access we plan to do regular updates and upgrades to the present content, mostly about quality of life mechanics and combat - based on our own list as well as received feedback from the players.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“At the moment game-play time is about 25+ hours on normal and lower difficulties. If you play on hard/epic and do optional battle challenges, then it can be even 50+ hours (we cannot give an accurate estimation here). Current content is pretty much finished from the story perspective. In the final run we will add remaining content and will continue to add qol features and do balancing.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is polished, and levels 1-7 are complete. State of balancing - we are quite ok with it, but we will continue to adjust it, depending on players' feedback and our own testing.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, for Early Access we would like to reward players who are willing to try the game and spend their valuable time to offer us feedback and improvement suggestions. Full release price will be higher.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to create an unforgettable RPG experience and engage players emotionally. We will listen to the feedback and suggestions, either via in-built report tool or perhaps a dedicated Discord server as well. Top contributors can count on a special mention in the credits or even a dedicated statue within the game. We also have a plan for a multiplayer (pvp and co-op) in the future, as tactical combat with limited slow-time option could offer a lot of fun.”

Upcoming Hotfix

We will release a hotfix very soon (perhaps even tomorrow), addressing the following issues:

  • Daeva Trials - Maeve and Boron issue when game sometimes froze between sequences. Your saves will work as intended.
  • Some Beast challenges did not trigger combat.
  • Beast group in the sewers - upon entering combat player was returned to the city instead
  • Achievements will properly unlock
We apologize to all affected players.

Also, we are testing Linux update - but could use some help with different distributions.

If you would like to help us - for which we would be grateful - please join our discord channel and we will grant you access to beta Linux build.

As always, we appreciate the feedback and reviews.

P.S. One of the Primal Beasts (in the screenshots above) is also very excited about this hotfix, since you will finally be able to test your skills against him in the final Beast Challenge

Update, Pause and Price

A short update about few things here, as we are working towards the final release.

Difficulty levels

We continue to balance difficulty levels and are testing a new way of setting them. On Hard and Epic difficulty enemies will not only scale in health and damage, but also in defense stats and skills (how they use them and how often). We are committed to create a super challenge for veteran players, where winning a battle will be very satisfying experience.

So no - soloing challenges on epic difficulty with cleverly build Boron will no longer be possible ( ...unless you find a different way)

Item Forge

We will add Item Forge - an ability to increase various stats on an item, for an increasing cost. Thanks to that, you will be able to create your ultimate party easier, not relying so much on RNG loot and having a great way to spend any surplus crystals that Maeve is carrying in her loot bag.

Skill adjustments

Observing many players in combat, we are making final (hopefully) adjustment to various skills. The list would be too long to present here, but we have some exciting new mechanics in testing, some of them factor in combat length too. One example can be Headshot - new Maeve's ultimate ability, that deals tons of damage to a single target and if that target is killed, the cooldown of this skill resets and its mana cost is decreased.

Party Alignment

Sometimes you face difficult choice and your champions disagree on how to proceed. In those crucial moments, you (as a Lord sitting in the throne room) will need to decide if you want to let party decide or impose your will, forcing one or the other option. How the party reacts to you and each other, will also affect

Price change

With the recent release of Book Two, we will be increasing the price a little - as announced before - just after current promotion ends.

We have received tons of detailed feedback after we released Book Two. Some suggestions are really excellent. Thanks a lot to all who found the time to send us an email or post in the forums! If you find the time to review the game, that also would be great.

If you want to chat with us directly about anything, please join on Discord:

Pause Time

One of the suggestions received was to implement pause, next to slow time. We will do so. We still will recommend to use slow time, as it is more fun in our opinion - but if you wish so, you will be able to pause the game now in combat.

P.S. The screenshots above are from one of the challenges - where you face four Elemental Lords in sequence.

“If the current stage of Tower of Time serves as a glimpse of what the finished game will look like, it definitely needs to be on more people radars.”

About This Game

Tower of Time is a new take on classic RPGs. It has hand-crafted levels filled with various enemies, challenging puzzles, and engaging story-lines. Its dynamic real-time combat with slow mode requires tactical awareness and careful preparation of the party.

At the moment the content is for approximately 25+ hours of game-play time on normal or lower difficulty, excluding optional battle challenges. If you like the challenge and will choose to play on hard or epic, then we don't have a time count for you.

Before you buy:

With the release of Book Two, the game mechanics and current content is pretty much finished - only small improvements are in the pipeline now. We will continue to work on the last part of the game now, Book Three, which will add another 10 hours and will conclude the story.

If you are looking for a game that is trying to bring something new to RPG genre - Tower of Time is an attempt at just that. Combat here is not a turn-based, rather a combination of RPG and RTS on a small scale, where you have the ability to slow time at will, reducing speed of everything to a crawl. Combat is not repetitive, as there are various battle modes with different objectives.

On Hard and Epic difficulty the game is meant to be hard, requiring your undivided attention throughout the entire combat encounter.

If you want to help us develop this game further, we will be thrilled. We are taking players' feedback very seriously.

  • Engaging story – set in a world where technology met magic with devastating consequences. Hundreds of lore books and scattered pieces of information slowly reveal the history of Artara as the protagonist approaches his fate.
  • Novel combat system – unique real-time action with a slow-time feature, where each match is played on one of many separate tactical maps. Plan ahead and position your party accordingly. Use slow-time to react to new threats or negate enemy skills. No two encounters are ever the same.
  • Five difficulty levels: You can choose whether you want only to enjoy the story or test your tactical thinking and skills.
  • Build your party around typical tank/dps/support composition or try something entirely new.
  • Different combat modes - e.g. scenarios - e.g. Swarm or Only Elite - will ensure that combat is not repetitive.
  • Find secret locations, cleverly hidden in the environment. Travel through hand-crafted levels where every single place is carefully designed.
  • Seven classes to choose from, and your party can be adjusted at will and anytime, depending on the challenges you face. Each champion has unique skills that can be upgraded and re-trained at will.
  • New character progression system: there is no experience to gain. Instead, discover ancient knowledge to unlock new skills and carefully design your characters. Each character could be turned into a powerful and durable attacker or a skill-based champion.
  • Defeat powerful elite enemies (bosses) wielding diverse skills and spells. Assess their strengths and weaknesses carefully to succeed.
  • Complete combat challenges for item rewards and unique enchanting recipes, or just to test your new party setup.
  • Random loot system. Craft item of your choice and power, using crafting crystals of various types. Discover ancient enchanting recipes that can change the nature of the combat, granting regeneration aura or immunity to special effects.
  • Find legendary relics, items with vast power and unique abilities.
  • Upgrade your city as the main training/equipment hub and repository of all the lore you find.

For long ages past, Artara was a place of great peace and beauty. Then, a mysterious event took place. Within a few generations, the land was broken and the skies darkened. More than a thousand years of decline has passed since then.

As a young boy, you came upon the base of an immense Tower, uncovered by yet another violent earthquake. Deep below sleeps an ancient power. Since that day, you have been drawn inexorably to this place. Your task is to lead a group of champions and reach whatever resides in the depths of the Tower. There you will face the ultimate choice…
