Why Early Access?

“The game is still currently in development and with a game based around the community creating and sharing of these creations, early access will allow us to push updates and new features and see how well they are received as well as just further optimizing and finalizing the core game features.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The plan is to take hopefully 4 months to find finish up the game’s level editor’s main features, campaign levels, and multiplayer features. After this, future updates will continue to be published adding new features/bug fixes post “release.””

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The early access version will slowly introduce new features that aren’t 100% stable, and will slowly come closer to a much more optimized and functional product. As where the full version will have all the features planned finished, optimized, and stable. Another main difference is the levels created in early access versions might not be compatible with future/different versions while all versions of the released Cranium Conundrum will be compatible with each other and able to play on (as long as the level was made in a released version of the game).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version is in early alpha. The game is still going through bug fixes and engine optimizations and is still unstable and prone to crashes and bugs.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price once the game reaches near it’s finalized state and all planned content and features have been added and finished.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community feedback and involvement will be crucial to the development of this game in its early access state. Bugs and Crashes will be able to reported to help us fix any issues users come across in the alphas. In addition to bug reporting, the community will also be able to submit ideas for features for the level editor mode (e.g. gimmick ideas, materials, stickers, or even costume ideas) and most suggestions will be taken into consideration during the development of this game.”

Cranium Conundrum - Unity (Beta Branch Updates)

Hello fellow Conundrum-ers!

With the shift to steam and a more steam integrated focus a new engine was required to progress so unfortunately that has added a big chunk of time to the development time, but I have been hard at work coding to bring you the current state of the new engine on Unity. The game is not at the state the previous version was and is still buggy and missing a lot of features that were once there, but if you'd like to opt-in and try out the new engine with some of the new included features (such as Steam Workshop Integration, Multiplayer, and Steam Achievements).

How do I activate these new updates?
To enable the beta branch updates, you must right-click on Cranium Conundrum in your games list in Steam. Select the "Properties" menu item.



In the properties dialog, select the "Betas" tab. There's a drop-down list that allows you to select the beta branch.



CAUTION: This beta version is very early in development and expect to experience many bugs and/or crashes. This branch will be updated frequently until all objects are working just as they did in the previous official build.

About This Game


Cranium Conundrum is a physics-based puzzle platformer taking place in the dream worlds that you create!

Current Features:

  • An Extensive Level Editor with many gameplay features and physics-enabled blocks/materials
  • An (Early) Save/Load so you can show off your currently in-progress levels to your friends to play and enjoy or for you to finish creating at a later date.
  • An (Early) multiplayer enabled in the level editor for you to create and collaborate level creation with up to 8 players!
  • Player customization including changing character skin color (and upcoming clothings options such as head-wear and different shirts and pants)
  • Logic System that allows you to enable certain events and items based on triggers you place in your level!

Planned Features:

  • Publishing finished levels so user don't have access to the level editor content and can only play in the play mode.
  • A central hub to upload your published levels filled with screenshots, comments, and ratings for you to share your awesome creative levels!
  • Fully realized multiplayer with different level types for multiplayer-centric levels such as Capture The Flag, Deathmatch, and Races.
  • A story mode where you will play through to get the backstory of the Glia and they're purpose for creating dream worlds. It will include collectibles that you will use to either customize your player or to create in your levels.
