About This Game

From Valve (the creators of Counter-Strike, Half-Life and more) comes Left 4 Dead, a co-op action horror game for the PC and Xbox 360 that casts up to four players in an epic struggle for survival against swarming zombie hordes and terrifying mutant monsters.
Set in the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, L4D's survival co-op mode lets you blast a path through the infected in four unique “movies,” guiding your survivors across the rooftops of an abandoned metropolis, through rural ghost towns and pitch-black forests in your quest to escape a devastated Ground Zero crawling with infected enemies. Each "movie" is comprised of five large maps, and can be played by one to four human players, with an emphasis on team-based strategy and objectives.
New technology dubbed "the AI Director" is used to generate a unique gameplay experience every time you play. The Director tailors the frequency and ferocity of the zombie attacks to your performance, putting you in the middle of a fast-paced, but not overwhelming, Hollywood horror movie.
  • Addictive single player, co-op, and multiplayer action gameplay from the makers of Counter-Strike and Half-Life
  • Versus Mode lets you compete four-on-four with friends, playing as a human trying to get rescued, or as a zombie boss monster that will stop at nothing to destroy them.
  • See how long you and your friends can hold out against the infected horde in the new Survival Mode
  • An advanced AI director dynamically creates intense and unique experiences every time the game is played
  • 20 maps, 10 weapons and unlimited possibilities in four sprawling "movies"
  • Matchmaking, stats, rankings, and awards system drive collaborative play
  • Designer's Commentary allows gamers to go "behind the scenes" of the game
  • Powered by Source and Steam

THE SACRIFICE

"The Sacrifice” is the new add-on for Left 4 Dead.

"The Sacrifice" is the prequel to "The Passing," and takes place from the L4D Survivors' perspective as they make their way South. In addition to advancing the story, "The Sacrifice" introduces a new style finale featuring "Sacrificial Gameplay" where players get to decide who will give their life so the others may live.

In The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead owners receive "The Sacrifice" campaign playable in Campaign, Versus, and Survival modes.

I joined a match. I got pounced by a hunter. My team ran away. Never has a game been more appropriately named. 10/10 would die alone again.

This game is balanced so that teams pretty much *have to* work together to survive. Players who run ahead are typically targeted by the game, and the game is harder with few players (so it's important that you *AND* your teammates survive!). Therefore this game--in my many years of experience with it AND in comparison to my many years of Counter Strike experience--tends to have a friendlier and more team-oriented group of players to interact with. I appreciate the game dynamics in L4D very, very much.

Simply one of the best games of the past 10 years for fun and value for money, If you like Zombies and shooting them with mates then this is for you as well as being a real challenge at time (settings dependent).

Play either Solo or as a 4 person team as well as a versus mode plus there are still server groups with upto 10 players coop and 8v8 versus to extend the playability even more.

A good game for those that LOVE Zombies but wanna play a multi-shoot faster game :)
The bad point is, the game don't follow a history. You can choose all the campaigns from the begginning !

The game itself is addicting and terrific. The gamer community that plays it however, sucks as human beings. Very noob-unfriendly, and you can expect your angry teammates to either kill you, kick you within 5 minutes, or both. Or ridicule you and laugh as they watch you die, rather than come revive you. Seems to be about 70-80% of the players are a-holes, and take winning far too seriously. You do meet the occasional player who's actually fun to play with.

Frankly, everyone pays to play. It sucks for noobs who are constantly kicked as it makes it harder for them to actually improve. Especially, because there are many times that there might only be one room in versus mode. That means if you get kicked from that lobby, you're SOL on getting anymore time in for a while.

Left 4 Dead is a wonderfully well-designed and polished product whereas Left 4 Dead 2 isn't. I really don't care about the guns so much. They are generic and get the job done. There's really no difference between an AK-47 and L4D's assault rifle. The story in L4D is richer than LD42 based largely on the strength of the characters. Rochelle is in no way a substitute for the sexy Zoey. Francis is better than Nick, the best LD42 character. Bill is far better than fat-♥♥♥, ebonics-talking Coach. Ellis is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥, although he shouldn't be consideing that he is an auto mechanic. Louis remains the worst character of all. He's delusionally positive and too connected to the old world to make any real sense. If Zoey were going to fall for someone it would be Francis or Nick and not that filthy piece of network analyst nerd ♥♥♥♥ trash. The levels in LD42 are fair and feature some interesting obstacles, but they rely on plot devices that operate continually until they are turned off. That's not as much fun as a two- or three-wave attack that ends on its own. All in all, Left 4 Dead 2 was a premature rush job that wasn't given the same attention to detail as the original. The new zombies in L4D2 don't add much and are ridiculous, especially The Jockey.

Currently still the best co-operative FPS game in existence, in my opinion. It may look a little dated now, but the source engine still feels good to play in, and the game is just hard enough to remain a bit of a challenge unless you are really paying attention. It's a very limited content game, just 5 or so hour-long campaigns for co-op play, but somehow I'm still playing the game occasionally with the same guys 6 years after release.

Unlike Borderlands, the guns actually feel like they are doing damage, the panic can be real and you need a decent strategy to beat the campaign finales. Unlike Left 4 Dead 2, it is not entirely random and a good, careful player can sometimes make it through the game with barely a scratch, giving a real sense of achievement.

This game is a classic. One of the best co-op zombie slaying game out there. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves killing zombies and playing with friends! Obviously, there are only so many chapters; however, there are many custom maps that are available for download. Along with customizable features as well; for example, flashlight mobs, character/ enemy mods, etc. Great game! I love it!

An excellent zombie shooter, however all the maps from this game are also avaliable as downloadable content in Left 4 Dead 2. So while I love the original, you're probably better off with L4D2.
