With your choice of 3 classes(each with different trainable skill sets) you'll embark on a fairly uneventful dungeon crawler through three forgettable locales each with their own distinct mobs. While the classes and builds make for a bit of intrigue you'll quickly be mired in repetition as you clear room after room without much to distinguish each one from the last. In typical crawler fashion the game is broken into three acts each capped by an uninspiring boss encounter. The game also features an incredibly frustrating lack of responsiveness from the controls. Attempts to pivot and free fire are often ignored as you find yourself running directly into damage(and often death) instead. While it had the potential to be a good title there just isn't enough there to warrant the time commitment and achievement collectors will also be disappointed at the absence of any. Unless you are a die hard fan of the genre or have a fetish for poor controls I'd suggest spending your time elsewhere.

Personal Rating: " Get it whilst on a decent sale"
Traditional Rating: 6/10
Platform: PC
Genre: Isometric Action Role Playing Game

Whilst technically there is nothing wrong with Clockstone software latest game, it's missing the charm that accompanied its previous title, Avencast. Greed: Black Border is about as mechanical as games can get. The pieces all fit together perfectly but somehow someone forgot to add some soul and some heart.

As far as story and plot go, Greed makes do with as little as possible on which to hang its gaming framework so don't expect any Machiavellian plot twists or just plain good old storytelling. Graphics and audio design are serviceable although the voice acting is atrocious and the script generally very poorly written. It plays and sounds very much like Sci-Fi B movie.

If you have played any action RPG since Diablo you'll know exactly what to expect. Click and then click some more and then stock up on what ever loot pops out of your enemies carcass. Clockstone obviously don't really understand the fundamentals of the hack and slash rpg - namely gear and inventory. Here you get an inventory that can hold only a few items and items are indistinguishable from the others when viewing them but different by name only so this ensures that your character will look exactly the same as he or she looked right at the beginning of the game.

The game also struggles to forge an inlay into the cannon that is the science-fiction themed action RPG, of which to be honest there isn't one standout game (Space Siege anyone?). But that does not mean its a terrible game, only a very mediocre one. There is still some fun to be had here, if you can get past the lack of good storytelling, terrible voice work, shoddy inventory system and some boss battles that will try even the hardcore gamers patience.

A fairly bad sci-fi diablo clone.
Uninteresing story, mediocre graphics and repetitive enemies.

The controls suck so bad on this buggy, ugly and unresponsive poor excuse of a game that shortly after playing it i found myself Uninstalling it never to look back.

First i liked the game. I really did. Nice atmosphere, nice voice acting. Interesting skill system (switching active and passive skills on the move.)

BUT!

My save file got corrupted! Every time the game saves it crashes. I can restart the game and load the game at the saved point anyways, but u can't do that before a bossfight! (It will automatically save infront of the boss encounter = Crash. But it won't load there after restarting the game.)
It became impossible for me to finish the game.

And i can't recommend that. Bummer.
