What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Haze Games is a fully independant 1-man studio. I have been working on this game for about 3 years now. Amélie Beaudroit has written the story and dialogs.
I would like to have the Community's early feedback and comments on the currently functional levels of the game and main game mechanics.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

Final release of Fractal Space is planned for end of 2017. The game will be in Early Access for the next 6 to 10 months, depending on player feedback.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

More Chapters

As we go further into Early Access, more chapters will be added, with their associated features. The first chapter to be added will be Chapter 3.
For the final game, we expect a total of 5 Chapters, for a play time of 4-6 hours.

Most of the sound effects are in their final state. Other sounds are here to provide minimal feedback to the player, and are still in placeholder state. Sound improvements will be done as we progress in Early Access.

Graphics will gradually be improved as we go on; assets will be replaced with increase-quality versions as we release new builds. More objects will be created to populate the space station.

The game will undergo more optimization work further down in development. We can expect 15-30 FPS more for the final release.

Achievements, Leaderboards and Trading Cards

41 Achievements, 6 Leaderboards and Trading Cards will be implemented gradually as we make progress in development. They are currently not implemented.

Steam Cloud

Cloud Save using Steam Cloud will be implemented for final release.

Time Manipulation

Currently not included in Early Access build. A new feature of Time Manipulation will be added. I will provide more details as development focuses on this feature.

More Languages

For the final release, more languages will be supported. Notably Russian and German in addition to currently supported English and French.

Virtual Reality

This is not a promise, but I have the strong desire to add Virtual Reality support to the game. This will only be done once most of the levels are complete, so we can only expect this during mid-2017, or more likely as a post-release update.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

First 2 Chapters

Currently, the Early Access build includes 2 Chapters. It should take about 2 hours to complete.

The following main features are in a playable state and can be experienced during those first 2 Chapters:
  • Basic Movement, jump, crouch
  • Taser-Gun
  • Jetpack
  • Cameras
  • Room Control
  • Zero-G: Very short introduction to feature

Fractal Space is currently playable with Keyboard and Mouse, or Xbox 360 / One Controller. Steam Controller support will be added for the final release.

The voice-over dialogs in the EA build are currently placeholders. They will be recorded with actors in a studio prior to final release.
Some rooms are currently silent - dialogs still require writing and recording

Visual Glitches

During Early Access, you may encounter blinking / disappearing 3D objects at a distance. This will be fixed as new chapters are created and time can be dedicated to fixing minor visual glitches.

English & French

Currently, the game is only playable in English or French.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

Upon final release, the game's price will be increased. Until then, Early Access price will not change.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

I will be listening to each and everyone of your requests, comments and feedbacks about the game. In addition, your opinion on difficulty and progression would be greatly appreciated.

For me, the goal of Early Access on Steam is to gather the Community's thoughts, feedback and comments as we go on, all together in this hard-working journey of making Fractal Space a great game!

By purchasing the game, you will have access to the Bugs and Feedback & Suggestions forums, in which you can feel free to suggest your ideas to improve the game, or give details about a bug you encountered ;)

You are also welcome to upload Videos and Screenshots to the Steam Workshop of Fractal Space. It would be a great help for me locate bugs easily and fix them quickly.

Development Update #4

We have been working on the PC version of Fractal Space this month, and we are happy to announce that we have a first Pre-Alpha PC Press build available!

We have worked a lot on the visual effects and sound effects to make the game more immersive. We will make them better in the polish stage, but it's already sounding much better than it was last month :)

We also have updated the video of the Steam Store page with new footage and gameplay of the PC version!

PC Pre-Alpha Available
We have completed the re-work of the game on PC for the first two Chapters of the game! Meaning that we are now sending Steam keys to everyone who requested one! You can request one by sending an email to

This Pre-Alpha Steam build lets you try the new features and reworked graphics exclusive to PC, Mac and Linux platforms!

Important notes:
  • This pre-alpha build only includes the first 2 chapters of the game
  • Voice-over are temporary, and will be recorded with actors for release
  • Some rooms are currently silent - dialogs still require writing and recording
  • You may see blinking/disappearing 3D objects at a distance - this will be fixed later

Another nice PC-exclusive feature we are working on is Zero-Gravity rooms with their associated puzzles!

This requires a lot of re-work of the controls and physics handling for movement, jump, jetpack and objects. Handling player collisions has been painful. It's still an unstable system, that's at its early stage - we need to build more rooms exploiting this feature, and fix issues & bugs as we go along.

However, it's starting to work pretty well, and we hope you'll enjoy it on the PC Pre-Alpha build!

Destructible Walls
That's also new for the Desktop version of Fractal Space: We are using Destructible Walls to place some of the hidden recordings, and some rooms require you to break its structure in order to solve their associated puzzles:

Beware, you may also find yourself lead into a trap, hidden behind what seemed to be a secret reward behind the wall ;)

Visual & Sound Enhancements
For the PC version, we have reworked most 3D assets to look better, be more visible, and show more instant feedback to the player:

Next Step: Chapter 3
Thanks for reading! We are now working actively on Chapter 3, and all the new rooms and new features this room involves. We have something new about Time Manipulation... But we will talk more about it when we have something to show :)

We will release a new Development Update when Chapter 3 is completed, within 1 or 2 months! Thank you all, see you next time, and Happy Gaming!
