About This Game

Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Was a decent all and all game had been sitting in my library for a very long time and decided to buy Metro: Last light just so I could complete this first.

but wasnt really impressed :/

Felt the map was really clustered.
Graphics were quite good considering when it came out.
Didnt really understand the Story to be honest.
Acting sometimes felt a little cheesey.
and Some parts of the game were just frustrating and made me quit now and then but i knew i had to go back to it if i wanted to finish it the game.

My friend kept telling me to play it but for me, wasn't that all in the amazing section and just hope when i start Last light i'll enjoy that more.

If you are looking for a good shooter look no further, this is one of the most immersive shooters out there and you should play it.
But, since the redux version has come out you should probably get both the 2033 and Last light redux combo since they are VERY cheap and you'll be getting 2 awesome games.

This review is for Metro 2033, not Metro 2033 Redux.

Story: [Spoiler Free] Very good. Main protagonist adventures for seeking helps, meets a lot of other characters, explores a lot of metro stations and outside (or upper world), and learns truth behind Metro universe.

Gameplay: You can play this game as 2 play-styles, almost aggressive and stealth. I am not so sure that this is some bug when I hear mutant's roar in metro station but it didn't come out. Also, stealth in this game is somewhat good but not perfect. Other than that, I haven't seen any bugs or glitches. AI partners in this game are strong (some of them have somewhat aim-bot skill). Weapon mechanic is very good except trench knifing part. And no, there is no organizing inventory system like STALKER :'(

Quality: Graphic looks beautiful. Details in this game is amazing. For scary moments, I jump-scared when multiple mutants charged behind me and when I met "black librarian" (that thing is very scary). I have seen few issues but nothing major. I get to play this game at least 2 playthroughs, because most of the levels are replayables.

Most Highlighted Feature: Two difficulties, Ranger Easy & Ranger Hardcore, are very challenging. These difficulties give you better experience how to survive with very limited sources. This may sound like unforgiving but very fun to play if you look surroundings very carefully. Don't worry, there is checkpoint system. You can start with Ranger Mode, but playing Normal/Hardcore on first playthrough is recommended.
Note: if you are willing to look at my achievements, just wanna let you know, I haven't unlocked them yet. I only played half-way through because of my job :'(

Overall: Great game especially for newcomers who haven't played Survival Horror FPS games before. You can get Metro 2033 Redux (remastered version), but in my opinion, this game is more realistic survival.

This game is extremely good as sick. It reflects almost anything can really happen in real life and so as Cold War. You either find youself in a cave or youself wearing a mask.

This game is simply amazing!
I have finished it FIVE times!

The history is awesome makes you want to play more, and after playing 4 times I still have found new places I havent visit before!
And oh.. Theres a plot twist in the second ending! I dont want to spoil the game, but one hint: Listen to Khan: „ try to get a better understanding of things before you make your judgment ”

Graphics are OK for a 2010 game, runs well on my pc. I had a bit of lag, but if you run it on safe mode it will run smoothly.

this game is a 10/10, must play!

Amazing game, has a really immersive post-apocalyptic world. People who liked the Stalker and Fallout games will like this one too. They did what they could importing the story of a great book into a game. Although I miss the whole Great Worm Cult thing from the book. They could have gone with a tribal/raider theme for that chapter. I think the creatures look better than in the redux versions. The stealth system is dope, it is really satisfying completing a whole level without being seen or killing anyone while you crawl from corner to corner shooting out lightsources with your silenced revolver wearing night vision googles.

Would be an instant 10/10, but because of that horrible Biomass level where my AI partner walks into exploding blobs dying all the time I only give it a 9/10.

Play the games, read the books. I can only recommend them. :)

I had this game sitting in my steam library for quite awhile and finally decided to pick the game up and finish it! This game really opens your eyes to how stupid humans are, even in the apocolypse we're still killing eachother over ideology. Now I've heard there is an alternative ending I do not know how to get it or what it is, I played the game with the regular ending, and it was fun! I don't think I've evfer wanted to punch a hole in my monitor so bad before I ever played this game there are some very frustrating tasks to accomplish in this game especially when ammo is scarce or YOUR GAS MASK IS CRACKED :(!!
I have never played the redux so I can't give my opinion wether you should buy this one or the redux but, I sure enjoyed playing this one so if it's for sale or you want a fun survival horror game, buy this! Also, this game will keep you on the dge of your seat the whole time just beacuse of how creepy the metro feels. It's very atmospheric and a great game, I will be continuing on to Last Light which I'm really looking foward to playing now and one day I might even pick up the redux!

This was the first M rated game I ever bought; I did so way back in 2010. Once I got my PC built, I bought the game again and re-lived all of the heart-pounding terror, despair, and triumph that I experienced while playing this game so many years ago.

If you do not have this game, buy it immediately. Get yourself a bottle of vodka and an AK as well, because once you enter these tunnels, you'll never be the same.
