The pros and cons of Deathmatch Classic:

PROS:
- An early game in the Half-Life series, before Half-Life Deathmatch: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
- If you listen to the song Ragga Bomb by Skrillex, you will run in circles killing every player on the server.
- It's a classic/original Valve game, like Ricochet and Counter-Strike.
- VALVE DEVELOPED AND RELEASED IT
- If you play this game, it means you're really skilled because hardly any people ever play this and the weapons are hard to use.

CONS:
- The weapons are on the bottom of the screen and not to the side like most FPS games.
- All maps look the same.
- Only a couple of weapons are usefull.
- Runs on GoldSrc. I'm not a hater, i'm just saying that in my opinion Source Engine is better than GoldSrc.
- Only 1 server I know of is still up.

One of the weirdest and funniest games I played. Great for LAN parties and overall raging when you lost at Counter-Strike ;)

This game may look to be dead but has 1 server that has a decent amount of people everyday. the gameplay is almost exacally like quake, except for the lack of bunny hopping. This game is worth the 1 TF2 key I spent on it. It is fun and simple to grasp, but (exacally like Quake) is hard to master. i give this game a 10/11. because reasons...

Old but gold!
a classic 1. person shooter with fast action play!
It mostly reminds me of quake but with a bit more smooth gameplay and and more stabil servers.
If you dont know quake, or halflife 1, you should buy this piece of game history and educate yourself! :D
sadly, it do not have that many players left on the servers, but it is great at lan with friends! :D

9/10 Would deffintly play again, and again , and again , and again , and again , and again!

Personal rating: "Acceptable" = 2/5

PROS:
+ fun gameplay
+ lots of mods

CONS:
- not that many active players
- clunky graphics

Comment:
Same case as with other old Valve multiplayer games, I've missed the golden days of this game when there were many players around. Today the community of active players is small and there are not a lot of games to join (I just found 1 server with 13 players). I got this game with Counter Strike 1.6 and decided to give it a go. It's a classic Quake-type shooter and lots of fun. Gameplay is great but lack of people to actually play with pulls down the score somewhat.

Deatchmatch Classic borrows a lot of gameplay from Quake III and, like other reviewers said, this game is dead because no one is playing it. Thus, there's no sense in buying Deathmatch Classic if it lacks a thriving community.

A really great game. Simplistic and fun. There is virtually no community for it anymore though.

Much to my personal dismay, Deathmatch Classic has no reason to be recommended. Deathmatch Classic is the original QuakeWorld, but in the GoldSrc (Half-life 1, Counter strike 1.6) engine, most of the maps are great redesigns of Quake's deathmatch maps that still impress me despite its age (I have a thing for castles/churches with compressed jpegs for skyboxes), However not only is the gameplay slower due to its engine, but its playerbase is as dead as Ricochet's.
Deathmatch Classic was clearly not meant to be a best-seller but a shoutout to id software and their breakthrough in PC gaming in terms of multiplayer thanks to QuakeWorld and Doom deathmatch.

If you want the Deathmatch Classic experience, save your five bucks, go download Quake Live, and play it until bethesda decides to demand subscription money for every time you push a button mid-game.

This is an amazing game, and I have played this for more hours but on another account. GET THIS! This game needs your support. It's dying, and we don't have many players left. If you join the game, we can grow a community and revive it. It's a nice fast-paced shooter similar to Quake with many weapons you can find around the map.

I bought this game because it reminds me of good old days of Quake deathmatch. If you are an hardcore Quake 1 multiplayer fan, then this is one advanced Quake for you! There are a few active servers but once you join one, the players are going to come. So stop reading reviews and try it yourself, it worth it!

This game much like Syria. Very old and not many people left but if you want to get easy kill join up. This is much better experience than most other online games and mods. Even better than Half Life 2 Deathmatch. You do not need to be in Isis to play.
