About Pineview Drive

http://store.steampowered.com/app/288880/

An old abandoned mansion lies at the dead end of Pineview Drive. A troubled man is standing at its gates, looking over the property. 20 years ago he had visited this estate with his wife Linda. During their stay his beloved vanished without a trace – her mysterious disappearance unresolved.

For 20 years no clues, for 20 years no peace, for 20 years this house on Pineview Drive has not relinquished its tormenting grip on him. Now, he returns in hopes of coming to terms with his nightmarish past.

The ominous legends haunting this seaside lodge have become renown. The stories abound that no one has been able to endure more than 30 days within the mansion since Linda’s disappearance. Facing a force greater than you ever imagined, you must cross the threshold and confront the evil that envelops this cryptic cottage. To solve the mystery of Linda’s disappearance and lift the veil on this troubling history, there is no time to spare.

I feel like this was supposed to be a project just for VR. It's pointless and underwhelming, BUT I must commend them for the ambience. Whoever worked on the sound did a good job. If you want a cheap jump scare followed by some laughs or a smile, then check it out. It's free so it's not like you have anything to lose.

I'll give it a thumbs down since there's no real meat to the "game." It's simply an experience for VR users.

My game keeps on crashing, after clicking new game it will load for like 2 seconds and then just crash. So I can't even play the game. I will give this a positive review later on if this game starts working properly.

So some pros and cons of this game

Pros:
The soundtrack. It is an amazing ambient suspense inducing soundtrack, even if it's just sounds.
The scenary. The animation team did an excellent job with how the trees and buildings looked.
The Scarecrow. It actually did scare me, I'll admit it.
The build up

Cons:
There isn't a whole lot there, so it's mostly just walking through the forest.
The brightness is kind of awkward, where some places are too bright and most are too dark.
The flashlight(F key) is useless
The endning, I won't spoil anything but it didn't feel fulfulling.

Overall I give it a 6.7/10, I mean it is a prequel for a game and it's free, so it sits well with me

Passing Pineview Forest is a game about, well, words escape me to describe what its about. There's no story, there's no gameplay, and for a mindnumbingly tedious couple of minutes to finish there is one very cheap jump scare.

You walk excruciatingly slowly through a forest, and some bushes rustle. As you carry on walking the music swells dramatically, like something shocking is going to happen, but, um, it never does....even though the music keeps playing like it will. You come across a house - intense music....ooh! But there's nothing inside - except for some bats that have glitched through the walls, and are flying through the floor....

The further in the forest you go - the more the bushes rustle. Vewwy fwightening.....

And then a monster, or something, grabs you from behind (apologies for the spoiler if you intended to play it). End of game.

Maybe you can avoid it - but to be honest its so damn boring getting that far that I can't be bothered to find out....Utterly inept waste of time, but luckily - not your money!

Not much to the game. Sure, it can scare from time to time, but I find that it's rare.

- Not that scary.
- Too easy.
- Too simple.

I was pretty terrified for most of the time playing. The sound effects like bush rustling and bats squeaking are pretty creepy, and after seeing the warning in the begining, I was expecting to soil myself. Let's just say I wasn't let down. Great game if you're into the horror genre.

Played a few minutes holding my breath while walking. Then ran into the bushes like a girl screaming my head off. Five stars will play again. xD

first time, didn't get that far. Looked behind my back multiple times, and got my heart racing. I didn't see anything but it got my heart beating each time I thought I heard something. It made me paranoid. especially when the music built up. This is an amazing example of a horror game. A great addition to the genre. Definitely a piece of its own, giving a different atmospheric feeling. A mixed feeling of fear and anxiety. I would recommend this to many people of which play the horror genre.
(By the way, panic attacks don't mix well with this game.)

Extreamly good game and evean better soundtrack!. I have had no issue getting throgh the forest but I do get cought off guard by the random noises so when you hear them stay still! wait for 3 to 4 seconds and then resume your jurney through the forest. aslo dont go in the buildings! you will make what ever is in the forest angry and it will kill you! and keep your flashlight off at all times the activty/noises will not be as commen so it will be easyer to go through. one last thing! KEEP YOUR EARS PEELD OR YOUR DEAD!
