What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We’re releasing in Early Access because our initial goal was to release in April 2014 (with a lot less features that you are seeing now). But due to the overwhelming response and support from our Kickstarter backers and reaching over 1200% of our goal, we wanted to add a lot more content and features so we can bring you the best game possible! We’re still releasing in April, just in Early Access instead and with a lot more features implemented than we initially planned, and with a lot more still to come. Hop on for the ride!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We will be working on the game until both us and the community feels confident in the feature set presented, but that won't be the end of the game's development either! We have released nearly a patch a week since our Kickstarter ended, so we are fully dedicated to the success of the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Unlocked Stretch Goals:
3 Additional Game Modes [ALL GAME MODES HAVE BEEN ADDED!]
Mod Support (3D Models) [THIS HAS BEEN ADDED!]
RPG Kit (25 animated figurines, Dungeon Tilesets & Misc props) [THIS HAS BEEN ADDED!]
Steam Workshop Support [THIS HAS BEEN ADDED!]
Oculus Rift & CastAR Support
Customizable Figurines
Space Theme
and tons more!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Tabletop Simulator has all the fundamental features of the game ready for you to play. With over 15 games to choose from and the sandbox nature of the game, you are set to play hundreds of different games. In addition, you can create your own mods and upload them directly to Steam Workshop. The only limitation is of your imagination.

Tons of new content is still to come and your support will help make the game grow even more. Different features are subject to change and your feedback will help shape the direction we take the game for the better!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase when the game leaves early access so be sure to pick it up to save some dosh!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We love our community and are proud that we take our community seriously! With the updates almost every week since our Kickstarter ended, we've taken a lot of the suggestions and feedback they have given us and implemented them into the game! So it's very important to give us your feedback, so we can make Tabletop Simulator the best it can be!”

Update v4.0 In game Tablet, Saved objects folders, & Connection Improvements!

As always, we’ve got some exciting stuff for you guys. Most importantly, we are bringing the ultimate sandbox tool into Tabletop Simulator this patch... the internet. Yep, you can now browse the web, watch YouTube videos, listen to music, create/edit character sheets, and all kinds of things within Tabletop Simulator’s own little Tablet. Please note that the Tablet is currently in Alpha.

We also added the much requested saved objects folders and worked really hard to get connection issues working properly.

We’re also in the process of migrating our new website, so you may encounter some downtime while we get it all squared away. In the meantime, you can see our brand new logo for Berserk Games, which will now be shown in game.

Tablet, New Game Mode:
  • Browse the internet in multiplayer right on a tablet.
  • Full HTML5 support and even flash if installed.
  • You can watch youtube videos, listen to music, manage RPG character sheets in Google Drive, and other places on the web.
  • Clicking the screen will enter you in tablet mode where all inputs get redirected to the browser.
  • You can move the tablet by grabbing the bezels of the device.
  • Tablet interaction can be disabled for clients in the host options.
  • Pop up confirmation window to accept links from user.

Tablet Known Issues:
  • Tablets do not currently work with Mac or Linux versions of the game.
  • Only one Tablet can be spawned at a time for right now.
  • Text caret is not displaying properly in text fields.
  • Changing graphics settings after a tablet has been spawned will make the tablet not work without a restart.
  • Page scrolling is currently not synced for each person.

Connection Improvements:
  • Fixed issues that was causing players to get stuck connecting to a server.
  • If connecting fails due to nat punchthrough it will attempt to connect multiple times.
  • This should greatly reduce some of the connection issues some players have been reporting.
  • Direct connect will now bring up the password menu if the password is not supplied.

Hacking Protection:
  • Added protection against hackers being able join a public game and perform promoted players actions.
  • Server side checks for important promoted player actions.

Saved Objects Folders:
  • You can now create folders for organization in your saved objects menu.
  • First create a folder by opening up your saved objects menu and clicking the create folder button.
  • Then whenever you save an object you can choose that folder from the dropdown menu and it will save to it.
  • You can also easily rearrange your files by dragging and dropping them within the menu or outside the game in your folders.

Custom Shader:
  • You can now manually control the shaders for custom models.
  • You can modify the Specular Color, Specular Intensity, Specular Sharpness, and Fresnel Strength.
  • You now have almost the same control over custom models as the devs do.
  • To see how to start modifying custom model shaders check it out here.

Contextual Menu:
  • No longer must you apply any changes you make in the right click/contextual menu.
  • Any changes will automatically apply and this greatly helps when using the color tinting.
  • Optimized the amount of network traffic when manipulating multiple objects with the contextual menu.

Scrolling UI Improvements:
  • Reduced lag and graphical glitches when populating a scrolling list.
  • Overall scrolling optimized to handle larger lists.
  • Expanding saves will no longer lag.
  • Fixed scrolling issue that would cause buttons to become hidden when filtering.

General Improvements:
  • Improved the accuracy of the 3d mouse pointers, so that the tip of the finger exactly matches the location.
  • Face down cards and decks are now automatically hidden like they are in your hand (No more sneaky stuff).
  • You can now draw perfect straight lines by holding shift while using the paint tool.
  • Improved semi-lock to not lock objects at strange angles by increasing the time to lock when stationary.
  • Reduced the network traffic needed to synchronize players pointers.
  • Minor performance improvements for cpu usage by marking certain objects static.
  • Host can now disable flicking for clients in the host options.

  • Fixed custom model normal maps being incorrectly rendered.
  • Fixed color tinting not working for first load on custom models.
  • Fixed being able to flip or rotate locked objects by using multiselect.
  • Fixed hover actions being applied improperly while holding objects.
  • Fixed delete and expand save button getting stuck on for selected items.
  • Fixed expand save button not minimizing the expand on other saves.
  • Fixed dragging and dropping UI elements clipping behind other gui elements.
  • Fixed tooltip for objects showing up through gui elements.
  • Fixed hosting a server and failing to connect to facilitator causing you to leave steam lobby.
  • Fixed naming issues for the Deck Builder's bat files.

Why didn't anyone think of this before? Seriously, did the human race really miss this one until now? I doubt it, but it's the first I've heard.

You can make your own tabletop games.
You can play other peoples games.
You can play any card game. There are dice. There are 3D objects.

And then you can play them with your friends.

Why am I writting this? I gotta go/make/play.

This simulator has so much potential, that a single review on steam could not even scathe the surface of depth that it contains within it's walls of creativity and customization. Do you enjoy the luxury of having every single board game, card game, dice game, and pen and paper game laid before you in an easy to use, ever growing plethora of a database? Do you ever find yourself in a dire situation in which you can not contain the hatred and fury of the rage inside of you which burns like the flames of one thousand suns and lays waste to all who oppose you in such a mood? Then this game is right up your ally! At any given time, you can flip the table and watch your game pieces fall into the void of nothingness with the physics unmatched by any "game" sold commercially or otherwise. You will be left in awe when you come to the sudden realization that the game that lies before you could change the way you look at video games, and life in general, forever. Did I mention the deep and vast multiplayer expierence? Duuuude... it's like, soooo deep. 8 players. Yeah... it's like that. The host also has the ability to lock items or the table itself to prevent those less capable of abstract thought to flip the table in the middle of your session. I think it should be manditory for this game to be in everyone's collection. Just like Obamacare.

First I'll take you back to the mid Seventies where all I did was play tabletop games.

Once Payday rolled around (every Friday) my friends knew where to find me. I would hit the Book Store, then my local hobby store to look over, and see what new has been added. I was, and still am a hugh fan of any Avalon Hill games, and normally after chatting with the rest of the folks in the store I would be heading home to unbox my new tabletop game. I would spend countless hours playing, editing, and creating my own scenarios, and I have to say those days are my most memorable of all in my life.

.... Years pass, and as always you gradually pull away from these things because life is just like that. Work, Bills, Family, and so on just do not allow you to carry on like you use too.

... A few years later I start having a few more moments allowed me, and I would have these small flashs of memories from years ago when I use to love Tabletop games, and how much I enjoyed them. I drove down to where my old hobby store was only to find out the store was torn down, and in it's place is a uni-sex hair salon, and I have to say I was really sadden by it.

... A few more years pass and then I see the PC arrives, and I buy in at a whopping $1900.00 Plus for my Tandy 1000SL, and I dumped another $800.00 plus dollars for a 10 meg Harddrive, and started to purchase a few games such as Mechwarrior, well you know the deal.

... Fast Forward to middle 2014, and into 2015.

After playing years, and years of the same old thing which would be First Person Shooters, Survival Games, 2D side scrollers, and the like I got extremely bored, and began to see how all of these games seem to look alike, how they all pretty much played the same, and I began to understand that they are pretty much not what I want anymore in my life.

Once again my thoughts gradually went back to when I loved Tabletop gaming, and how just simply holding a game manual, looking at the box, setting up the board, reading the manual to make sure I have things right made my life in gaming an absolute joy.

So, I began to search for a way to get back into table top gaming, and I came across lackeyCCG which really I didn't like all that much because you were dependent on hoping the modder didn't mess up with the download links, so I decided on Vassal which I found fantastic since you only had to download one .vmod file, and you had everything you need in one package.

Well after tinkering with Vassal which I think is great still didn't fulfill my desire to hold the pieces, Vassal made me feel like I was just playing another computer game which I really was trying to get away from.

... A couple of Months later I came across Tabletop Simulator, and after watching a few Videos I thought this just might be it.

I just recently purchased Tabletop Simulator, and downloaded a few Tabletop Conversions such as "Mage Knight", and "Eldritch Horror", as soon as I started up Tabeltop Simulator, and I was able to manipulate the pieces, dig through the decks, and empty out the bags, and pour over the contents of the cards I knew from that second on that I was finally back to where I first started. Finally I found what I have been looking for.

Now mind you nothing can take the place of opening that box, picking up the gaming manual, seperating the pieces from the holders, but Tabletop Simulator is pretty darn close.

Thank You devs, I am so appreciative for what you have brought to the gaming industry, finally I can settle back into what I enjoyed so much back in my early days.

Final: Because of Tabletop Simulator, I am going to Mail Order Mage Knight, and Eldritch Horror (that will take some time, I'm not that rich), and it's because of the developers of Tabletop Simulator which made it all possible.

MOST IMPORTANT: A Very Big Thank You goes out to all of the Modders who worked tirelessly creating these excellent Conversions so we can play once again!

Thanks for bringing me back Devs, and Modders to a world I thought I would never be able to return too.

I'm glad there is a game like this. It crams all board games into one very well delivered package. What is great is it allows the user to interact with the game as they (just about almost) would in real life. The integration of Steam Workshop really is icing on the cake, as you can just go on and download a huge range of board games people have reworked into the game, like Magic the Gathering, Takenoko, Carcassone, Forbidden Island. The game however is more of a sandbox where you can tamper with anyone's cards, destroy someone's tokens, steal someone's dice and FLIPPING THE GOD FORSAKEN TABLE IN A FIT OF UNCONTROLLABLE RAGE WHEN A LITTLE WHINEY KID PUTS YOU IN CHECKMATE.
It starts you off with checkers, cards, chinese checkers and all the bog-standard tabletop necessities before you soon migrate to the Workshop. It includes singleplayer (for literally just solitaire) and the multiplayer which surprisingly doesnt require having to port forward. You can just slap a name on your new server, slam some assets down on a table and await the arrival of some players (hopefully ones of which won't exploit the table flipping mechanic CONSTANTLY, which is the reason 80% of servers are password locked :P) and just have some fun. It also lets you use voice chat and normal text chat to talk to victims of your newly thought up next level plays.
As a conclusion, it saves you a helluva lot of money on board games in one big digital package which is a huge WIN in itself.

Play the custom D&D map, you spend hours maybe days working on.
Maybe play a simple game of Chess with a friend.
Gamble away all the poker chips in the world.

Download a framed Hulk Hogan picture, and draw a masterpiece, with a friend.
Play Chess, and make up all the rules as you go along.
Spawn in a bunch of Custom Figures, and upload Anime girl pictures to them. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Spawn a ton of marbles, and filp the table.
Or just flick/throw everything and watch them fly.

In summary: Is game is amazing, and as long as you have a couple friends to goof around with, you can play anyway you want, and not get yelled at, or brake something. 69/420 - would b8 again

I can't recommend this enough. So many possiblities, grab some friends and have a good time! There are many games to choose from that are in the base game and over 2000 thousand community made games on the workshop that range from custom made games, to full commercial board games like Settlers of Catan and Cards Against Humanity. That, coupled with an excellent physics engine, this game isn't to be missed!

This is one of the absolute best purchases I've ever made on Steam. Its an infinite collection of board games. See a game you haven't played in forever? Try it. Want to know if that game you want to buy is any good? Try it. Have an urge to have a lazy conversation with your gf/wife but want to do something? Load it up, try it out. Feeling down? Join a server and proceed to have shenangins with people.

The only criticism I have for this game isn't even because of the game itself (the developers are fantastic and are as I type are updating the features of the simulator). Its the community. Some people enter lobbies and ruin games. Not with all that much frequency, mind you, but enough so that most people now lock their servers. A handful of open (and legitimate) servers are still around, but its like 5% - 10% of the servers listed. So if your planning on playing without a real life friend or two..... I'd still say get the game (seriously its fantastic), but don't expect to play anything but popular card games.

A Steam Must-buy, especially if you have real life friends who also have the game. 10/10 Monopoly Boards.

My friends and i are wanting ot have a poker night but we find it hard to travel so we decided to buy this game. We were told we could play games such as Poker, Pokemon, UNO and a lot more and its true!

With worksop mods their are games such as Yu-Gi-Oh, many versions of Monopoly, Top Trumps, Trvia Pursuit, Scrabble and so many more. This game is something great. The graphics are rather nice but could do with a little more. The UI is great and easy to understand and its great fun to play with friends. We regullary have poker nights on this game and play Monopoly an dmany others as its such great fun.

This game is currently priced at 10.99 GBP which....... in my opinion isnt worth it. I would pay about 7 GBP - I got mine for 3 CSGO Keys. BARGAIN!

I feel that their needs to be more worksop mods, although there are already a lot, their could be so so so much more. I am currently creating a trvia pursuit for teens game. And its very easy to make your own mod for this game.

Graphics: 8/10 (although it is mod related)
User Interface: 10/10 very easy to use
Worksop: 8/10 wide variety of games but not a lot of great games
Price: 6/10 i wouldnt pay 10.99 GBP for it
Play Time: 9/10 this game can provide countless hours of fun

Highly recommended

I have never written a review on Steam until now. Why? because this game is so good I have to recommend this to everyone.

We all know most of the Early Access Games are terrible. Most well known example being DayZ. However, not this game. The Devs are so passionate and caring about this game. If you browse the forum they respond to people who have troubles running the game smoothly, multiplayer issues or anything in trouble generally.
Devs stated the reason why this game is on Early Access is because they received an overwhelming response from Kickstarter and decide to polish the game and bring out more content further. Which they did. Read more on what the Devs said and you can see how much they have added.

Now my comments on this game: This is the perfect game for a bunch of friends to gather around at a table to chill out and have fun if people can't already do this physically IRL. The diversity of the game makes it suitable for any age group. Mods in game allows you to play any kind of games as long as you make them work. Mods also allows you to re-visit nostalgic games in your childhood.
This game's simple controls allows anyone to get used to the game in no time. The game has an in-built decent voice chat that allows vocal interaction with other players. You are not require to own the mod the room is currently using to join. Mods will automatically be loaded. Furthermore, hosts can load individual items from separate mods while in a different mod. Hosts and promoted members can also spawn items from chests and saved items from the game. You can also instantaneously upload an image from Internet as a board by simply inserting the URL in required place.

The community is mostly great. Most people have self-discipline are well mannered. However you occasionally get some trolls that do nothing constructive and are only there for ruining other people's games. Luckily hosts have a ban function and ability to limit players from flipping tables and drawings etc. On top of that you can rewind any amount of times so you can undo if anything messed up. It also autosaves so you can continue the games whenever you feel like.

If you ask me to rate this game I'd give it 8.5/10 at this stage. Atm this game is fairly underrated as well as a lot of room to improve. I hope this game will get out of Early Access very soon so more people will buy it. I'm looking forward to seeing this game having more people playing.
