Why Early Access?

“We want to give the community the opportunity to help shape On the Road early on so we can implement as much of your feedback as possible. The sooner we start with that, the better. This way we can ensure we develop the game you want to play.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This heavily depends on the feedback from the community. Currently we’re planning with 5-6 months. It may very well take longer if you propose more complex changes. More important that a strict time frame is developing a game that everyone is satisfied with.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, the following areas will be greatly improved and added to with more content:

  • Vehicles: More vehicles and trailer will be added. The existing vehicles will be further refined. Additionally, we want to continuously add styling elements and more features.
  • Game world: For the full version, the whole area of Germany is planned. In addition, the areas that already exists will become more vibrant, e.g. with dirt, graffiti, and ground vegetation. One of the first updates will also add seasons.
  • AI: The traffic AI will get more vehicles and more features, allowing it to simulate the traffic in a more realistic way.
  • Economic system: By your request, the economic system will be enhanced so as to offer more realism and complexity.
  • Sounds: The current, preliminary sounds will be replaced by real recordings and also be enhanced as well.

Adding to these main points, we’ll do our best to include your wishes – and bug fixes, of course.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In its current state, On the Road is already playable of course. All areas of the game are present, albeit only in a basic way, but without any larger bugs. As said, they are still not really refined. During the Early Access phase, we want to expand them into a greater whole and optimise them – see above. Right now, we cannot guarantee full stability either.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As the larger updates will add more features, we will raise the price step by step. This way, we want to thank those players that got involved in the development early on while also account for them getting a smaller, less feature-rich game than later adopters.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will collect your feedback via the Steam Community. Here, we’ll read and write all the time. The same is true for our Social Media pages, of course. In addition, there is a button in the game to inform you about the current state of development and planned extensions. Shortly, we’ll also include another button that allows you to report bugs right into our bug tracking system.”

On the Road Update Version 0.6.2 2017-07-25

The new On the Road update to version 0.6.2 lays the foundation for the upcoming economy system – you can now purchase more trucks for your vehicle fleet. Additionally the update includes functional petrol stations allowing you to refuel your trucks. Furthermore, there are noticeable improvements to the AI traffic, textures, vehicle physics, and more aspects of the game. As usual, the update will be downloaded and installed automatically via Steam.

  • Working Petrolstations and fueling
  • Removed invisible barriers for the driver
  • Hop off wherever you want
  • Italian localisation

Features:
  • New input manager for 3 different devices at once plus keyboard settings
  • Force Feedback management expanded to three devices
  • Controller menu auto adjusts known devices (List of known devices will be expanded in near future)
  • Deadzone sliders moved to input menu for each function that is assigned to an axis
  • Semitruck+trailer added
  • Standard truck is now without rigid trailer
  • Rigid trailer and semi truck can be bought within the vehicles menu (WIP)

  • Massively stabilized ai, reduced CPU load of ai and increased number of spawned vehicles
  • Fixed a number in the differential lock settings causing a power transfer of 1000% instead of 10% causing the truck to drift
  • Removed occassional CPU spikes caused by unused light features of Unity
  • Removed sun from the reflection to remove the ugly spots on reflective surfaces
  • Decreased rain sound volume in cockpit

Known issues
  • No warning when on low fuel
  • Unwanted gearshift when climbing back into the cabin
  • AI ignores player truck after leaving the cabin

About This Game

On the Road – the realistic truck simulator for the PC by the developer Toxtronyx is currently in an advanced stage of development. Use the Early Access phase to tell us about your own wishes and ideas, while being able to explore Germany’s roads already – for a discounted price!

In the Early Access version, there are already about 1500 km of motorway and more than 300 km of country roads at your disposal – including 12 detailed motorway interchanges. The player can already stop by in 7 cities in North Germany (for now) like Hamburg, Bremen and Berlin, with unique road designs and sights. During the Early Access, 11 more cities will follow, e.g. Cologne, Dortmund, and Munich. Additionally, numerous other points of interest are waiting to be discovered during the journey, as well.

The terrain rendition is based on real satellite data. Additionally, different weather conditions and an authentic day/night cycle are already implemented, with seasons following shortly.

Thanks to the cooperation with MAN, the truck appears very realistically – including the MAN TipMatic transmission, retarder/Intarder and service modes. Articulated truck trains with different trailers, lift axles, and vehicle styles with consequences for the reputation are planned for the Early Access.

On the Road also features a basic economic system, allowing the player to found his own company. In the long term more features are planned to make this system more complex, e.g. purchasing licences and hiring drivers. Join in now and take part in the development of On the Road!
