About This Game

It is a misty evening in the year of our lord 1912. The Pattersons, a poor but proud aristocratic family of the British nobility, and some of their closest friends, arrive at the castle Malachi residence of a wealthy Romanian Count. It is only three days until the family's eldest daughter, Rebecca, is to be wed to the count's son, uniting the family with the rich heritage of the Malachi, hopefully restoring its glory.

The only person missing is you, the brother of the bride, who is on your way from Stockholm, where you have defended the Union Jack in the noble art of fencing in the Olympics. You are to arrive later during the evening.

Sir Patterson is disappointed when the Count himself doesn't greet the family at their arrival, but still he lets the servants show them all to their rooms, without complaining too loudly. It is not until later--when the doors are slammed shut and locked behind them, that he realizes his mistake that they have become prisoners and are at the Count's mercy...

  • Highly intense, first-person shooter, survival horror
  • Enemies appearing shock style from everywhere
  • A massive gothic castle with hundreds of rooms awaits your arrival
  • The random architecture generator changes the layout of the castle and location of the characters every time you play
  • Non-linear style game play, where different parts of the castle can be explored in whatever order you want
  • Pick up and bring your foes down with classic vampire slayers like holy water, crucifixes, and wooden stakes or old-fashioned firearms like flintlock guns and muskets
  • Some vampires can only be slain with specific weapons, which challenges the player's weapon tactics
  • Spine-chilling scores and sound effects seamlessly orchestrated to keep you on the edge of your seat
  • Eerie 3D-graphics with real-time lighting, grainy screens, fog, and mist to give you that classic horror feel

System Requirements

    • OS: Windows 98/2000/XP/7/8
    • Processor: Pentium III 733 MHz Processor

Oh my. I didn't think I would enjoy this game as much as I did.

The story is pretty basic. You arrive at Castle Dracula Malachi to celebrate your sister's wedding, just to realize that all your relatives are going to be used as sacrifices to summon the evil Malachi.

The game also doesn't look that great. The graphics are pretty dated, although I thought the short cut scenes actually looked alright. Something which was great was that there is a filter on the screen which makes the game look and feel like the old Nosferatu movie. The soundtrack also fits the game really well, with creepy songs and sounds, although the voices of the characters could have been done a bit better. Then again, a bit of camp just adds to the charm of the game.

What makes this game so great is the gameplay.
- You have to rescue your family members in time or they will die. They can also die while you are escorting them out of the castle. If they die, they will not be able to assist you, which will make the game harder.
- The game has a good and a "bad" ending. If you are not able to rescue all of your relatives you will not be able to see the good ending. I played on easy mode, but I still failed to save one of the family members, and even let the dog, Buster, die.
- I only played through the game once, which took me about 4-5 hours, but since the castle is randomly generated when you start a new game I will definitely return to the castle at one point, playing on hard mode and aiming for a happy ending.
- There are various enemies, some that need to be killed in a certain way (or with a certain weapon). A sword, a crucifix, various guns, holy water, and of course the most powerful weapon of all - your fists - are all useful in some way or the other. And just to be clear: Killing a vampire is not enough. You need to find their chest and drive a stake through their heart.
- Another thing which makes this game really good is that it sometimes surprises you. At one point I noticed that somehow I had dropped my crucifix, which you need to create holy water. After checking online I learned that apparently bats can knock your weapon out of your hands, so I had to retrace my steps just to get my crucifix back.
- Also, there is no map available. You will get lost.

As for the downsides, as I mentioned the game doesn't look that great. It is also fairly short, but then again the replay value is high, so that is not really a big minus. I also encountered a few bugs while playing. Dying just as I was saving a family member caused the game to crash. Sometimes the AI family members would do stupid things like walk off the edge of a tower. Still, these are minor things, and all things that I can live with.

This game goes on sale all the time, and it is definitely worth it. It might even be worth it at full price, as long as you don't mind the dated graphics and short length.

Just get it. It's fun!

/Good & decent story
Decent graphics; keeping in mind that it is an old game (2003)
Atmospheric scenes & background music..
Yet it misses both, achievements & display options.

Quite possibly the best horror game that I have ever played. Despite all of it's glitches, bad AI, bad voice acting and rather basic storyline, the game excels on all other fronts. The atmosphere, level design and soundtrack/music queues are enough to make this game a solid 7.5/10 in my books. As frustrating as it is to play, the payoff is worth it. I highly recommend this game if you want a spooky game to play on halloween.

90% percent of the games I've ever played are horrible, but nothing is quite like Nosferatu. Truly The Worst Game Ever Made, by anyone, anywhere, ever. This game is so bad it doesn't even deserve to be vomited on.

An overall pretty good experience. It's actually short enough to keep you entertained for one evening (I saw the ending after 4.5 hours).

The obsolete graphics and the bulky melee controls may dissapoint you at first, but after getting into the game for about 1.5 hours, you'll really begin to enjoy it. Try to save your family from the fangs of the evil Count!

The Good:
+ Atmosphere
+ Fast game pace and progression
+ Weapons
+ Story and concept
+ Enemies (bosses included)

The Bad:
- Some minor bugs (like invisible enemies)
- Some minor illogicalities (like the procedure to save the last two family members)
- Quite short

The Ugly:
- The graphics, oh gawd...

Give this game a shot and don't forget to install the widescreen resolution patch as well. I've seen way worse titles from that era.

By the way, this game includes one of the most badass grandfathers of all times. You have been warned.

This is my favorite PC game.

I've grown up with games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame etc. Then i discovered Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi. This game is for me a synonym to survival horror game. It has perfect atmosphere and suitable weapons against Evil.

WARNING! This game has bad graphics and sound. It's buggy as hell. Hit detection screws you over.

Have fun.

9/10, One of the best games in the genre

Easy to get into
Excellent atmosphere
Extremely fun and playable
Great inventory system
Great replayability

Poor options menu
Poor animation quality
A few nongamebreaking bugs

Overall to me this game would be a 10/10 if it weren't for a few small technical issues. It's over a decade old and I would still recommend this to anyone, new and old gamer alike. It was obviously made by someone with a great vision for game design, but lacking a few technical skills to get everything just right.

Don't mind the short logged play time. If you want to change the graphics options you have to start it from the launcher in the game directory. If you click play through that Steam doesn't track the time. I did play it :P

Lets start off with the Negatives just to get it out of the way. Currently there are 0 graphics options in this game like none what so ever. The graphics are olllllld like Clive Barkers undying but slightly uglier at least by todays standards. I grew up with a Nintendo entertainment system so when the quake stuff game to market that is why my heart was and always will be I don't need smancy graphics

So Negative summary
* Graphics (depeding on when you grew up not a real issue for me)
*No resolution options D:

Postives list
*Rogue like difficulty and if you don't save you can play it like a rogue like this game does not auto save
*Randomly generated castles :D
* AI is very creepy has no Tehtering( this means monsters will follow you freely until you dispatch of them D:
* Real Survival horror.... none of that RE4 crows drop grenades ,you have limited ammo and health Runnnnn RUNNNNNN
*Lots of Atmosphere
* Fairly compitent sound design :D

hope this helps you decide on getting the game or not ^_^

There are old games that look and play well. Then, there is this. I am sure there are worse games, and maybe some people have nostalgic feelings for Nosferatu.

Unless you like cheese, just don't bother.

Nosferatu is a first-person shooter set in a massive gothic castle. You play as James Patterson, an Englishman traveling to Romania for the wedding of your sister Rebecca to the mysterious Count Malachi. The gameplay is just as straightforward as the plot, cribbed from a thousand novels and movies. Developer Idol FX makes game with random monster spawning and an abbreviated plot heavily reliant on key quests. It's dark, hard and long(or short because you have limited time before vampires start to eat your family).
