Murder Miners Theme Song Metal Remix

One of our players who goes by the name of "LeFurger" made a metal remix of our theme song. It's really well-done, check it out!

Did you know that our theme song was the result of a contest we ran? In a future post I'll show you some of the other submissions we had.

About This Game

Murder Miners is the #1 rated Xbox Live Indie Game. After a year of updating the game on Xbox and several months of work porting it to PC, we're finally ready for Steam.

*The game currently does not have split-screen play as shown in the trailer (that's in the Xbox version). We may add split-screen in an update.*

Halo-inspired core gameplay

3-shot-kill pistol included, with new additions such as wall-jumping, unlimited sprint, multi-directional dashing and alt-fire modes.

Unique Infection mode

One player starts as a zombie, hunting down the miners one by one, turning them into zombie teammates. Miners can use the Minergun to build forts, while the zombies can dig through walls and use their tentacle grab to reach higher places or pull miners toward them. Unique to our game is the ability to feast on miner corpses to level up your zombie attributes.

Online co-op map making + completely destructible maps

The Minergun makes map-creation easy and fun. Almost every popular map you can think of has been remade by our community, and you can share them via Steam Workshop.

Don't write this off as some minecraft spin-off. I'd say it's 5% minecraft, 95% Halo. Like I know a lot of people have probably said, it uses block-based maps, and if the host doesn't disable it, you can place and destroy blocks. But a large majority of the time, that's not the focus of the gameplay in the very least. It can be a pretty competitive FPS. Or it can just be a casual game to play with friends, if you're not the competitive type. There's your standard team death match mode, free for all, and capture the flag, which are the competitive modes. And then there's the more laid-back, casual modes in Zombie Survival and Infection. In Infection, all players start out as humans, with one randomly selected player as a zombie. If the zombie kills you, you respawn as a zombie, and the game is over when all the humans are dead. The winner is the player with the most kills. I don't really like it, because it seems like a boring camp-fest, and there's always that one guy that just digs a hole and hides with a shotgun. But overall, this game is really fun. If you like Halo, you'll like this.

The weapons are pretty standard. The sniper, battle rifle, pistol, shotgun, and machine gun are all straight out of Halo. There's also the energy sword, but it works a little differently in this. It doesn't instantly lunge and one-hit-kill like the Halo sword does, but instead has to be charged for 2-3 seconds. Or you can use two weak sword attacks instead. Then there's the hookshot. Basically, it's a grappling hook straight out of batman. Or the hookshot from Legend of Zelda, if you like. Then you've got your frag grenades, which can't kill a full health/shield player, and your plasma grenades, which only kill if you actually stick a player. Everything is pretty well-balanced overall.

In addition to standard fire modes, all weapons have a secondary function or alternate fire mode. The sniper/pistol/battle rifle have scopes. The shotgun camouflages you as the same kind of blocks surrounding you, and the machine gun empties the remainder of its clip at double the normal fire rate. The sword and hookshot don't have alternate fire modes.

Then, there's the miner gun. It can break single blocks, a 1x3 grid of blocks, or a 3x3 grid of blocks at a time. It also has a "Blaster" mode that requires time to charge, but releases a slow-moving explosive projectile. It can also be changed to "building" mode and used to place blocks, for mapmaking purposes, or building cover to hide behind.

Anyway, there's a lot of different things you can do in this game, and for $1.99, it's an investment you probably won't regret. If this sounds like something that would interest you, don't second-guess yourself. Buy it and come play with the rest of the community!

Edit/update: I'd like to also say that the casual/average community on this game is absolutely terrible. If you're a person that ragequits or boots anyone playing better than you, don't buy this game, we don't want you playing it. I'm tired of getting booted from matches when I do well, as well as hosts that end the session after getting stomped for one match. I don't ALWAYS get booted, because there are a few people that don't care if they win or lose and respect skilled players, but by large, most of the community doesn't want to play unless everyone else they're playing with sucks, and that is a very bad way to approach any game. It's very common in this game for even just moderately good players to be accused of hacking and immediately booted from the lobby.

The game is also not a polished masterpiece. There are bugs and glitches as with any game, especially indie games. But this game has very solid gameplay, a lot of variety, and it's a diamond in the rough. The sequel is hopefully going to be better when it's finally released, as it's going to have matchmaking on dedicated servers instead of user-made locally hosted lobbies, so lag will (hopefully) be less of an issue.

But if you enjoy this game, and you happen to have a spare computer and a reasonably good internet connection, add me on steam! On the murderminers.com forums, we got someone to write a script that automatically runs a lobby on its own and changes the map on its own, we just need people with the resources to run them constantly, and that would improve most players' experience with the game tremendously, as a lot of people's only complaints relate to having high ping/bad connection to the player hosting the game.

This is literally Halo mixed with minecraft. There is no other way to say it. The weapons are literally named the exact same.
And I love it. If you loved Halo you will most defintly love this.

Upon initially glancing upon the storepage, the screenshots (all of which are adorned with quotes in white text, placed in order to accentuate the fact that games such as this were made for enjoyment) resemble something your little cousin would draw shortly after being exposed to the world of gaming. Infatuated with this new platform for his vices, and unaware of the harsh realities of life, he shows you a sketch of what appears to be an amalgamation of Minecraft and Halo. You ruffle his hair patronisingly and drop to one knee, to look him in the eye; tears now streaming down your rugged face, because a realisation has just hit you. Your beloved cousin will inevitably get the ♥♥♥♥ kicked out him in the near future. What if this seemingly silly idea was brought to life though, thought the onlookers who happened to be the future developers of Muder Miners? Truth be told, hypothetical cousin is still receiving an ♥♥♥-whooping the second he starts kindergarten, but the game itself is great.

9/10--Community's a little quiet but the gameplay is super fun and leans itself better to smaller games anyway. For $2 y'all should get it while it's luke-warm. (Or better yet, dish out an extra $3 for three copies for friends.)

Bought 3 Copies, at $0.97 each, and we had fun all night. Runs smooth, Playes well. Cheaper than Arcade games I played as a kid, that lasted for 2 minutes per 4 Quaters.

That's really all you need to know.

1.) It's LEGIT: The game runs well, and the controlls are TIGHT. This is not crap. It's a real game.

2.) It's simple. Start it up, choose a mode, jump in.

3.) Online works fine. Not many players, but, we had no problem playing with people all night.

4.) It's a buck. Even if we never play it again (we will), it was worth the night of fun we had.

5.) It's not "Like Halo". Don't know what all that is about. But, it does play like a solid FPS.

Fast-paced yet accessible gameplay. A lot of people say this is similar in gameplay to Halo 2 and I can see it. A friend bought this for me and I've been playing it more than I thought I would :)

ESPECIALLY for two bucks - recommended for any twitch fps fan.

TL:DR
You can use a grappling hook to take a man out of his helicoptor, punch him to death, steal the helicopter, and kill 30 zombies with flaming rockets where zombies can not hit you and Halo Spartans can try. Hope they don't have grappling hooks.

This game is amazing. The graphics are a bit poor, but there are many gamemodes, amazing weapons, lovely vehicles and mechanics, sick maps, and just an all around 20 dollar game for 2 dollars. ♥♥♥♥ lunch at Micky D's, get this game.

Final Verdict: Buy if you have any interest at all.

This is a really good game but somehow I still feel it hasn't been finished.
I'd love more incorporation with the vehicles and this game is well worth a $2 and is a complete bargain at $1.

Extreme fun to play with friends.

This game is a whole lot of fun with friends specifically on the Murdermatch gamemode. I think it is worth way over five dollars and could get really popular in the indie game community if they updated graphics and stuff like that. I love that there is a weapon called the Hookshot where you can pretty much just swing around the map like Attack on Titan or Spiderman. I can imagine that this game was coded very well. It isn't just Halo and Minecraft put together Grant. It's a lot more.

I've personally played the XBLA verson of this game, and I loved it sooo much. When I heard it was coming to Steam, I had a mini panic attack. I do have to admit, this game may have some sensitive controls, but when you get used to it... it'll be worth it. I overall recommend this game to EVERYONE. This is an amazing combination of Minecraft, Halo, and Parkour. It has an amazing concept, and... just get it! I promise you, you'll love it.

Best dollar I've ever spent!
I bought this when it was on sale for a buck and thank God I did! It's so fun! It's even *better* than Halo!
It's really instense, if you are a budget gamer, you NEED this game. Their's no reason NOT to! I mean two bucks? Why not?
Also, might I add, it's still better than COD.

HEY AVERAGE STEAM SHOPPER!!

This game you see... Murder Miners? Its a pretty fun game

With 2 parts Halo and 1 part Zombie Survival with just a dash of Mine Craft, you get this little miracle!
What makes this game super fun and addicting is that, you are not on a race for RANKS and NEW ARMOR, Giving it the fun gaming feeling you should get when playing a FPS! You do not have ranks and have every weapon available! (Except if the Host disables it) You have the same power and abilities as everyone else does! You are able to customize your player with Halo-Like Helmets and a decent size color list with making about every body-part a different color!

You are able to create your own maps with a minecraft ease OR quickly join in and rekt havoc into a DEATHMATCH, TEAM DEATHMATCH, and CFT! Dont even get me started about Infection or Zombie survival! 2 DIFFERENT but similar game-type where you are able to fend off endless hordes of zombies-things on ANY type of map, or join the ranks of the undead and destroy the lives of many who cry under the nearest desk! (BTW your able to disguise your selves as blocks shhhh ;P )

Every Wednesday, a person from the Developers itself hosts a game that lasts from 6 pm to 7pm (Central) with on average 15 to 20 players at once!

If your looking for a fun and easy FPS without the hassle of worrying about what your rank is...then this game is the one you want! Even buy 4 copies at once to give it to your friends, so your able to enjoy a fun and spooky time with them (Zombie Survival gets pretty spooky!)

I Highly recommend this Fun and Spooky Game! For only $1.99, your getting it no better anywhere else! (except when its on sale for $ .99)

This game is such a great game! and the people who say ''oh this is such a rip off of minecraft or halo'' my response is this have you even played the game? this game nothing like minecraft sure theres tiny bit of halo in there. For some reason i find this game so enjoyable and funny the gameplay is so fun you can make your own maps like i know some people that have Call Of Duty maps dead space maps and so much fun and awesome maps especially the Grand Theft Auto maps there so fun! i love the weapons and everything and i also love the fact that this game has no such thing as level its because the game is made for fun not like call of duty where you strain yourself with torture, trial and error, and maybe other bad things you run into. The game is definatly worth $1.99 there is one thing wrong with it though i dont think this game has an Anti Cheat program. theres alot of hackers or cheaters i run into either having infinte ammo turbo fire (Enabled for them but not everyone else) But seriously this game a bunch of fun and if i were you i would definaly grab it right away!

Very cool game, very well executed.
My reviews are succint, so here are some pros and cons.

Pros
=====
+Stylized, if low res, cool retro-style Minecraft inspired graphics.
+Very well balanced weaponry. No more 1 hit KO Halo Sword.
+No microtransactions
+Inexpensive game
+Many levels
+Many game modes
+Very friendly community
+Love the menu music
+Full control customizability
+No server lag
+Fully destroyable environment

Cons
=====
-While the community is nice, it's not very active. ~15-20 players on at a time, typically.
-AI is lacking, which makes the Zombie mode a little tiring.
-No in-game music. Kind of confused on this one, the Menu music is awesome.
-Sound effects are nothing special
-Limited armor customizability. Only change your helmet and your armor color.
-Weaponry grows stale quickly. Not too much variance.

Overall
=====
A very well made game that was clearly well thought out. Suffers from a lack of players, but there isn't really anything the developers can do about that.
Feels like Halo 1 multiplayer met Minecraft.

Overall, I give it a 7.8/10. (Seriously)

I originally gave this game a thumbs down as I thought I came across multiple hackers. Within 24 hours the dev contacted me tell me I had joined a game with 'Map Making Mode' turned on which grants players special abilities like flying and teleport. I came across 1 person who didnt die when I emptied an entire clip into him but again that could be turned off or on(for noobs maybe?). Either way the response was fast and helpful. Especially for a game under $10! To me this shows the dev actually cares about his game and the players. And it's a fun game too! It reminds me a little of Blockstorm but with more game modes. All in all it's worth checkng out. Thanks JForce Ty!

Simply put, I LOVE this game!
It takes the best of a halo-style fps and combines it with the destructable/buildable map style of minecraft.

It was easily my favorite indie game on the xbox 360 and it performs even better on PC.
Infection mode is a blast as is designing your own custom maps.

The only disappointment I have is the lack of local split-screen which was available on xbox and was supposed to be added to PC. I believe it is still planned to be added in an update.

Once split-screen is added, this game would be an easy 10/10 for me.

First of all, I just got this game for pc. However, I have owned the xbox version since it came out. This is a great game. For the price, there is just so much to do. I highly recommend this game to anyone. This is the type of game that I can always come back to. I know this review is short, but so is the average attention span of most people who scroll through these reviews lol including myself and this is my frist review.
