I bought this game a few years ago for 40 or 50€. Boxed version. I played it through as fast as I was able to. It's very atmospheric and the backgrounds look epic.

As far as my son will be old enough to enjoy such games, it's one of the very first games we'll play together.

I still remember what happened at the very end of the game. Just this moment is worth to invest time and money into this game.

I enjoyed this game. The artwork is beautiful, the story fun and engaging. I finished it through. My only complaint is most of the puzzles go about on average 3 steps too far. I had to resort to hints and walkthroughs to see this one through. Even when I understood the premise of the puzzle and the general logic behind it, assuredly two or more rather obscure steps would be thrown into the mix making it rediculously difficult and frustrating to figure out. Honestly, I don't think I could have finished it without referencing hints. It would be nice if the developers had a difficulty setting, cutting out the amount of steps needed to solve puzzles for the beginners and then adding the maximum steps in a hardcore mode for the adventure gaming savants. This would add replay value to a game like this and appeal to a larger audience of adventure gamers. Some want to enjoy a story with some moderately difficult puzzles that advance the story while others want to experience puzzles with all types of loose associations and tangential logic that they can fry their brains on.

The Whispered World is one of my favourite games. It's a beautiful story about a clown named Sadwick and his pet caterpillar, as they venture on a quest to save the world that Sadwick's fated to destroy. The little clown's personality - and the mood of the game - are a bit dark and may not be everybody's cup of tea. But for those who enjoy light-hearted, black comedy, you're really in for a treat. Take your time with the game, interact with every meaningless and not-so-meaningless object - everything is voiced and gives you a little more insight about Sadwick and his world. A very beautiful, zany world, filled with puzzles that will at times appear nonsensical - and nonsensical they're supposed to be, as you will undoubtely find out. Be ready for one of the most bittersweet, yet satisfying finales. It made me want to play the game all over again - and during my second playthrough, I'm noticing things I could have never noticed during my first.

[Note that the game takes around 15-20 hours to finish, as I played the normal version first and I'm now going through the Special Edition, which added a short tutorial, achievements, Steam cards and the dev's commentary, leaving the game per se untouched.]

Beautiful artwork and music - the aesthetic component alone makes this a worthy game. It's breathtaking! The story is fantastic and quite emotional; even though I was able to guess at the ending, it was quite impactful. Many hate Sadwick's voice, but I like it, in a so-irritating-its-funny kind of way: "Who are you again?" "SADwick, your GRANDson." The world created by the devs is vibrant, creative, and beautifully brought to life. The only drawback to the game is one common to the genre - illogical and obtuse puzzles. So, have a walkthrough handy for occasional use and enjoy a beautifully told and realized story!

Lovely drawn "Point & Click Adventure" about a depressive clown who will destroy the world xD

Challenging puzzles, funny characters, good story (feels like a fairytale) and a very unexpected ending.
As a bonus there is a developers commentary on each screen (mostly includes puzzle spoilers).

The only negative point is the voice-acting of the main character "Sadwick". He is so sad that he gets annoying after a while.
