Workshop is alive, check it out!

Howdy partners, it's better late than never they say. Finally you can share your add-ons with our community in an easy and fast way. Pretty much anything, from skins, maps, sound or particle effects, HUD or weapon replacements belong to our new workshop. Fistful of Frags will be even more community powered from now on.

To FoF community in general

I'm hoping this feature will spark content creation so eventually new stock content may come from workshop too. It's all about how fitting the creations may be and how they can expand or improve current content.

Feedback is also very important for all content creators out there, so I'd recommend you to get involved if you can. They'll appreciate your comments but please, try to offer constructive criticism too.

To potential content creators

Here's a guide that will tell you how to publish content to our workshop:
I'd like to explain how the content will be organized. Items can be browsed by category (maps, weapon skins, etc) so we'll be tagging any entry appropriately for easy discovery unless:
  1. art style doesn't fit at all, is out of place or simply doesn't belong to the Wild West (exceptions: item may be worth due other considerations)
  2. gives a noticeable gameplay advantage (in that case it may even get banned)
  3. doesn't work as intended or major flaws are present
Non tagged entries can still be found in other ways, this is just some form of curation to filter out of place or broken content.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to your creations, if there's any doubt feel free to ask.

About This Game

Fistful of Frags born years ago as a Wild West themed modification for Source engine. It has been completely renewed for its Steam release, paying special attention to combat mechanics.

Also note this is a completely *free* standalone mod, no micro-transactions exist, no registration required. Just install and play. You may see ads when joining certain third party servers that host our game for free. That's however completely unrelated to FoF dev team, we do not profit from them.

  • Shootout (classic death-match / free for fll) and up to 4 team death-match: non stop, all around action. FFA supports ladder based global ranks.
  • Teamplay-objective based game mode: zone capture or 'push the cart' levels.
  • 'Break Bad' mode: team based death-match like mode featuring custom rules as unarmed players that get you jailed when harmed and different objective based missions that grant cash to buy better weapons
  • Team Elimination mode (ranked): kill the entire enemy team once at least to win the round, highly tactical and suspenseful mode
  • Versus mode (ranked): 1 vs 1 duel matches, each map features different arenas, fair match creation based on player rank/skill
  • Detailed dual wield system: double dynamic crosshair, weapon flip for extra accuracy options, drop or throw your handguns as projectile attack
  • Advanced multiplayer bots for off-line practice
  • Historical black gunpowder based weapons as Colt Peacemaker/Navy/Walker, S&W Schofield, Volcanic pistol, Deringer, Smith Carbine, Sharps rifle or Henry Rifle
  • Customization options: choose primary/secondary weapons and special perks
  • Skill based scoring system: the more skill required to accomplish an attack, the higher score is
  • Source Engine 2013: community managed dedicated servers, LAN support, 3rd party level design and user customization allowed

Some good stuff this game has:

~ Realistic feeling weapons
~ Good damage balancing
~ Well made maps
~ Hilarious game mechanics (you can punch somebody's gun out of thier hands, kick them in the groin, pick up thier gun and throw it at them)
~ Humorous dialogue ("I've slept with women tougher than you!")
~ Regular updates and additions
~Workshop support

Some not-so-good stuff this game has:

~ The hatchet is incredibly unbalanced and needs at least a slight tweek to fix it
~ Bots might need rebalancing slightly, as they never miss with certain weapons (Sharps rifle, Smith Carbine, Yellowboy)
~ No more gentlemen perk (RIP top hat) :c

Overall, 9/10, highly recommend playing it

11/10 will blow melons again.
No payments, just loads of free fun with friends. And if don't have friends, you still have bots. Plus you can kick somebody to the death or play a piano. Actually, stop reading this stupid review and try it yourself.

Hard liquor memes aside, this game is fairly solid.

Gameplay: 7-8/10
Like all non-serious multiplayer shooters should be: balanced while never losing its sense of organic fun. Players must always tread the line between cavalier and caution, as health does not regenerate, and the movement speed and reloading times are fairly slow, but most guns have a healthy amount of spread and damage falloff (meaning that maps can't be locked down by long-range firing squads), ammo is infinite and health supplies are generously distributed across the map. The potential of dynamite as a spam weapon is largely countered by its limited supply. The game features objective modes, however, the meat of the experience lies in its deathmatch modes, allowing the game's four "factions" (the cocky Vigilantes, brutish Desperadoes, stoic Rangers and stereotypical Bandidos) to duke it out in typical deathmatch chaos. Initially, the combat mechanics and skill ceiling may be frustrating, but this allows for satisfaction in eventually mastering them. Also potentially frustrating is the weapon hierarchy, since the initial weapons kill in three bodyshots anyway, although it should be noted that the top-tier weapons are typically held behind either an expensive in-game paywall or a hard-to-reach chest that is constantly on the move, and while doing the most damage, they also have the lowest rate of fire. Hit detection is fairly reliable, with little dying behing cover and so on. Kicking, however, is a complete crock of ♥♥♥♥ that should be asphyxiated, stuffed into a suitcase and thrown into a ditch.

Content: 6-7/10
This game is packaged with a suitably varied array of weapons and places to use them. Weapons stay true to the Wild West motif, consisting principally of period six-shooters, lever-actions and double-barreleds, with a few flavour weapons on top, such as throwable melee weapons, and the bow. Maps designed for the deathmatch mode have a suitable amount of interconnected sections, meaning that the individual spaces are used as much as possible, and you feel like you're in a real arena instead of a virtual cat-run. Voice acting is suitably hammed up, which greatly contributes to the game's sense of personality, and in-game sprites are suitably distinctive up close and far away.

Community: 10/10
You can expect there to always be at least 2 busy servers with good ping, and I say this from Western Australia, and the players therein will typically be enjoying the game for what it is, nothing more and nothing less.

Overall: 7/10
A mature and gripping portrait of the evils of alcoholism in the Wild West

Let's just say, it's a very charming game. Although it's just a regular cowboy FPS, it has this campy feel to it. The gameplay is sort of broken but that's what makes this game twice as much fun as others. Since it's free, I would suggest playing it.

The game itself may look bad, but dont judge a book by its cover.
Try it yourself, and go back to the 1880's.
The game itself has a lot of good stuff, like:
~ The community isn't cancer, unlike CS and it's alternatives (No offense)
~ Pass the whiskey, dude. In teamplay, you now can do that. It's the Pootis of FoF.
~ The golden boxes aren't your targets, red and blue are. Trust me, you can get a lot more stuff from the scattered boxes than from the gold. Remember to pass the whiskey.
~ The gameplay might be repeating, but it's still fun, as there are a lot of tactics you have.
~ Welcome to FoF, after 2 years of development, hopefully it would have been worth the weight.
~ Basically, a more compact version of TF, if you're into it.
~ Oh hey, is that Muselk playing the game? Sweet!

There are some pretty OP stuff, hopefully it will be nerfed. Some people get sick.
~ Hatchets and knives. Those need to be nerfed unless you backstab people.
~ Bots are too accurate, they never miss with certain weapons (Sharps Rifle, Smith Carbine). I dont know how much times this has been posted.
~ Not sure if that's bad, but the Walker is OP as heck.

The game itself could use some new content, lets add some Steam Workshop in there!
I do have a suggestion for a new gamemode, maybe a TF2-alternative of MvM? That would be a fun GM to play.
If you like Source games, you'll like this.
