What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a small team, Early Access is a great way for us to... well... get the game into your hands early! We'll be able to get important gameplay feedback to make sure it's as fun as it can be, and at the same time polish any rough edges, add much more content, and get the game ready for final launch!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It will be in Early Access until we're ready to release it. We're anticipating at least a few months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have much more content, more skills, additional missions, new monsters, etc. We also expect to get further feedback during Early Access that will help us determine what you want to see in the final game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Intel HD Graphics - NOT SUPPORTED
Windows XP - NOT SUPPORTED
Single-player mode is not yet available in Early Access, but will be added for the final launch.

Stability and bugs: There are some rough edges and the game may crash on occasion. However, it's already very playable thanks to early alpha testing, and we're absolutely looking for your feedback to make sure it's as good as it can be. We're very passionate and will be online pretty much 24/7 to gather any concerns or bug reports you have, in order to fix the problems and update the game as quickly as possible.

Gameplay content: There are several different game modes available already to keep you entertained. Most of the skills are done, and we're working on adding more throughout Early Access. You can advance through the full 25 ranks in each of the 8 playable classes, though there's still more work to be done on each class. If story is your thing, there are two primary mission storylines with four missions each, along with numerous bosses and lots of enemies. Most of the weapons and powerups have also been implemented. Needless to say, we feel there's already a lot of content to enjoy!

We really love this game and are/will do anything that's necessary for our Early Access and -- eventually -- the full launch to be a success.

If you have any questions, suggestions on bugs, please do report. :)

Currently in early access you can advance your character, play multiplayer game in sessions with all 8 classes and try to survive for 1h in random encounters.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are offering some great discounts and bundles during Early Access, so by purchasing early you're definitely getting a great deal. The price will be higher at launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're looking for YOU to provide as much feedback and bug reports as you can! We want The Red Solstice to be one of the best co-op/multiplayer games on Steam, and we'll need YOUR help to get it there. Feel free to ask us any questions on the Steam forums, our Facebook page, Twitter or wherever else you want. We'll also schedule frequent play sessions and special events with the development team, so keep your eye out!”

The Red Solstice on Gamescom, status update

It's been a bit quiet on our side for some time, so I wanted to post a status update letting everyone know what's going on.

After slowing down a bit for a week to get some rest and recover, this week part of the team went to Cologne Germany, where we will be showing The Red Solstice as a part of Indie Megabooth on Gamescom. If you are nearby, come see us.

Once we're all back, we're going back to work, as we hope to celebrate the beginning of autumn with new updates featuring new game mods, improvements on certain ai follower options and much more.

Thank you for being an awesome community!

The Red Solstice update and +25% exp week

New update is live.
As a way of saying sorry for not delivering bonus XP last weekend as announced, we are extending the bonus XP period until next Monday.

As a sidenote, we have received a number of reports abbout certain players using cheats in multiplayer games. We would like to use this opportunity to warn players that according to Steam Subscriber Agreement you have accepted before buying this game, by using any kind of third party tool or technique in order to edit game parameters form outside the game itself (in other words, cheating), you forfit your right to play. By cheating you are hurting other player's experience, and you are hurting us. Please be fair and don't do it. With this update we have begun implementing mechanisms to better detect cheats, and we will without any further notice start permanently banning known cheaters.

Thank you for understanding.

161+ hours in the past two months and still rising rapidly. Personally I really enjoy this game when playing with a group of serious players on the hardest difficulty.

Is this game for you?
To really enjoy this game, you need to be a team player. When you start playing, you need to listen to more experienced people and learn from them. This is not a game for you to run around trying to be a hero, you will die, and get people killed.

This game does have lots of little tips and tricks you learn that are the difference between clutching a victory on Soldier difficulty (2/4) and breezing a a win on Aetriden difficulty(4/4). The people running around in circles on autofire are the ones doomed to soldier forever, then they get made at the game for requiring they actually learn something to win.

The game is somewhat repetative, there are 6 maps, ranging in difficultly and layout, with more planned as free content expansions, none of this paid dlc stuff. There are two primary storylines that can spawn, and a dozen or so secondary missions that spawn randomly through out each play through, certain secondaries are locked until your are in a group that is higher rank as they are more difficult, such as the Eye of the Storm mission. However the replayability comes from this random element, as well as trying to beat the game's current most difficult map, Military sector on Aetriden difficulty, which has currently only been beaten once!

Some people complain about the 'toxic' community on this game, well I believe I am one of those 'toxic' players apparently, because I require people in my games to be on teamspeak. The reason for this is simple, I play higher difficulty games and there is no time to type everything I need to tell you through out the game. Winning Veteran+ difficulty is extremely unlikely when not on teamspeak because not being able to hear the leaders instructions leads to small mistakes, which lead to deaths. As for the moderation of TS, I've seen 1 ban in the last 2 months, and that was someone trying to be disruptive and harassing the community.

The game has a few problems, desync is an issue sometimes, there are some other glitches too, however the developers are highly active within the community, to the point one is online on teamspeak almost every day listening to feedback, and if anyone is having any issues. Some bugs were creating in recent patches, and fixed almost immediately. Others have been around longer but are much more complicated issues that are hard to fix without breaking everything around it, or are inconsistent and difficult to replicate and pinpoint.

All in all, I'd give TRS an 8/10 as it stands right now, and that's trying to be highly critical of it. Most games I see coming out would be lucky to reach 6+. However, this game is not worth you buying it if you don't want to invest time and effort into learning it and getting good, you'll just end up out of pocket, upset and writing a bad review here or being an actual toxic player within the community. If you are willing to invest into this game however, endless hours of sweat, tears and laughter await you, just beware the levi in the bush!

A single game is for 8.

Early Access Review
This game has been a huge surprise for me.
I am a huge fan of cooperative games, i bought this game during early access because it looked promising.
I forgot about it until was fully released and this has been a blast.
-It has a strong Space meuhrins feel.
-many classes that all contribute to victory in their own way, and they are fairly balanced.
-The game seemed simple at first but it is actually incredibly deep, one of the deepest coop game i know of.
-The Ai is unforgiving and you will get a good challenge even on normal difficulty.
-It has many skill to choose from for each class and kind of a dota way of leveling up.
-You get 15 level max while you are playing and you have to attribute point carefully in each of your 4 skills with 5 points max in each, some are passive some are active, and hallow you to play exactly the way you want.
-The online is one of the best i know of, most people are friendly and most veteran will not mind giving you some advice.
In 50 hours of gameplay i have yet to find any troll.
The only downside i can see is that the game can seem overwhelming at first, the learning curve is steep and the RTS view will not be to everyone's liking, except that it is a masterpiece and i strongly recommend this game.

Good game. Reminds me a lot of the Night of the Dead map from Warcraft 3.
