"The eight player co-op is the heart of the game and really where it shines. Throughout the whole experience it never loses focus on teamwork."

Been playing this for awhile now but only casually. If you're happy to be a follower and support the team it doesn't get too complicated but if you want to master any particular character it can become a much more rewarding experience albeit frustrating at times. My main concern is there will always be players who will put unnecessary pressure/blame when things go pair shaped - ignore these bullies and just play for enjoyment.

I love this game.

If you played the Warcraft 3 Custom Map Night of the Dead ( NotD ) or the various versions of it in SC2, you will feel pleasantly reminded of them once playing this game. It is very much so inspired by them and the gameplay is similar, but also fleshed out and this game incorporates many new aspects, such as the leveling system, the various skills, and the ability to create your class before "dropping" into a mission/map.

Teamplay is key in multiplayer, but you can enjoy the Solo-Mode as well and the game seems to adjust automatically to the amount of players, making it possible to play it with only a handful of friends or even just two player CO-OP.

If you like cooperative missions with great atmosphere ? Get this game !

The Red Solstice is a gamer killer game. :)

Hard, tense, with atmospheric soundtrack, this one is equally good in single player and multiplayer. But there's nothing better than running around with friends, trying to survive on harsh Mars terrain with so many enemies zerging on you. This reminds me on Dead Nation game that I loved playing in co-op but TRS is much bigger and better.

Highly recommended. I bought it back in Early Access so the price was lower but there was no singleplayer at the time. Now it's a complete game with fantastic and responsive dev team and I hope it will get all the attention it deserves.

The Red Solstice is a top down Tactical game. It has 8 different classes with different ways to inflict pain upon the enemy. Of those, roughly 4 of them have support abilities that make it easier for your teammates to kill the enemy, and 2 are about trying to keep teammates alive longer. Most classes have an option to take 2-6 different primary weapons and 5 different secondary weapons. You only get one primary and one secondary.

You will run around different (brilliantly designed) maps . There are four difficulties and 7 different game mode sub options, making for a variety of different challenges. Some being more challenging than others. In addition to this you get a squad rating based on the overall experience of the squad, making the game harder and unlocking new missions and bosses.

Or you will complete a series of very tactical (almost to the point of Turn based strategy) single player missions

You generally run around the map looting items from lockers and the ground, killing mobs, and leveling up your character (MOBA style without PVP) while heading to mission locations. A game going to competition takes about 1 hour with fast mode option on, 1:15 without fast mode on.

The sound track on the game is interesting for the first 50 or so hours, but with a non AAA game they cant afford to spend the time developing a full soundtrack for the amount of hours you will invest in the game. Expect to play on mute or with the volume down unless you love repetitve sounds.

Completed – I hope, The devs have officailly released the game but there are quite a few things that need fix'd for consistant gameplay, also there are multiple skills/components that may be fun to use, but often time make the game harder to play, I would like to see these updated into skills that are useful so you dont have one or two skills that are "must haves"

Multiplayer- its CO-OP. You can’t do whatever you want because your entire team relies on every individual in the squad. One person not doing their job properly will cause someone to die. On higher difficulties, two mistakes mean you lost the game.
Easy- If you don’t believe Loosing Is Fun, and enjoy pushing and developing your skills as a player, you will not enjoy this game.

If you want to buy this game, join us in the unofficial TeamSpeak, and ask us some questions to find out if its right for you. You can find the address on the forums. I’ll even start streaming for you to watch if you wish and I’m on, so you can see what gameplay is like.

EDIT: TL; DR: You like true 8 player co-op? Survival? A challenge that can go to really high difficulties? Leadership and class responsability? This game is for you.

Long version: This is by far the most addicting game I've ever played, due to great community, great challenge and great gameplay. I've always liked survival games and good communities. This game has both. It has people willing to teach, people willing to laugh, people willing to play as a team, and now it has lots of new people willing to learn.
Each of the unique 8 classes has a role that will make surviving the hell on mars easier. And each with its own unique style of play, strenght an weaknesses.
The game has big replayability, randomized missions, locations, monster spawns, bosses, everything to make every single dollar spent on it worth it. Even 1000h+ veterans still get surprised by what the game can show. And constant updates and support from the devs keep the game balanced and fresh.
Seriously what are you waiting to buy this game?

My review on Early access:
This Game is wonderful, I've been part of the community Since Late Notd 2 And then Notd: Spec Ops. The makers of this game worked their asses off during lots of years and they deserved this final result. A true co-op survival game with good tactics and randomization. Threats that will require skill and cooperation of your teammates so you can survive. It's also possible to play alone if you're feeling pro, and the game allows you to have some bonus as you play, it's really rewarding to see your characters getting new modules and getting better stats. It's also awesome to kill big bosses or help your team to do it, and the best part is to evac with your team knowing you did your job properly, and trust me it wont be by evacing before you get to see some nasty awesome monsters.

Its on early access and the game depends on people playing but really, if you're active you'll always find games and help people find games aswell. The more people that have the game, the more activity it will have, so get it! Be part of this growing community!
