I spent nearly 700 hours playing as Germany alone. And I'll play as Germany for another 700 hours!

I should really try another country...

Do you like...
-making giant battleplans for big armies made up of faceless numbers and NATO counters?
-seeing said battleplans go to sh** the moment the enemy thinks of actually fighting back?
-messing around with unit organization tables to build the ultimate "mountain infantry with armored cars" division?
-turning Albania or Bulgaria into a conquering superpower?
-trying in vain to get supplies reach an overstretched frontline?
-pulling sliders to get bigger numbers?
-waiting for production timers to get even biggerer numbers?
-licence-producing great numbers of historically obscure tanks and planes?

Then you should get help! In the meantime though, you can play Hearts of Iron III to satisfy your perverse desires to build cavalry divisions with Ansaldo tankette and marine brigades.

After following this tutorial: https://steamcommunity.com/app/25890/discussions/0/616199347852373784 of how to stop the game crashing, i have found the game to be very enjoyable, the tutorials give you an idea of what to do. I am still learning but so far this game is definitely worth the £2 i brought it for, however if you are paying full price £7 i still think its a good idea to buy, just to test the game out before spending lots of money on hearts of iron 4

Hitler was even worse at explaining this game than he was at invading the Soviet Union.

Now this, is a quality game.
You can start as any nation in 1936 and then take over the world. Vanilla game may not be so good, so i suggest you to install BlackIce Mod. You won't go back to vanilla game after that. Only con is that this game may crash sometimes when saving your progress, corrupting the save file and if you had only 1 save, you need to start over again.

Yes, i love Hearts of Iron 3 and you should check it out if you are into stratigic game play. Every move must be thought out, kind of like a big game of chess.

I love Paradox Games. I have nearly 300 hours in eu4, 150 hours in CK2, and 90 hours in HOI4. Yeah, about that whole HOI4 thing. Buy that instead. This game's terrible interface makes in nearly unplayable. I'm fine with functionality being prioritized in a strategy game, but this one is inexcusably ugly.
Buy HOI4. Yes, it costs more. Yes, it's not as comprehensive a game yet (give it time, it's new and there will certainly be patches and more mods). Buy it anyway, it's simply a more enjoyable experience.

I started out as a small force than expanded my country, I united my people through political acts and strengthened my reputation with the greater powers. I broke free of the push of the other countries, trying to keep me down. I finally got Russia's support so I took the opportunity to invade Poland, then I decided to go further and invade France. Russia then thought I was a warmgoer so they attacked me, as well as the rest of the world pretty much. After years of long fighting which was pretty fun; my capital city was cornered by all the countries who seek to end me, I would've nuked em but I didn't invest in the technology tree that much, so I got into my cryo sleep tube and slept for some time. When I woke up I got on and played some Hearts of Iron 3, it was alright.

Not flexible enough, you're basically riding a railway down this unless you do something like play the US and decide not to join the war. . It's also pretty difficult and a lot of the diplomacy and espionage options are kinda.. useless.

Oh, well.... the best ww2 strategy game on Steam. :D
I bought this game when it was on a sale, and it's perfect. <3
Yes, when I bought the game, I was confused too, the interface is hard to understand for the first time, and the game is hard, even when you play it on easy. So basically, this game is only for patient people, and for those who like strategy, and challenes. Keep your money, if you're not like that.
I'd say you should buy it, just to try it, but most people will give up on it.

After nine hours of playing this game, this is one of the most fun games I've ever played. The game is extremely detailed, from sending spies on covert missions, to propoganda to lower your neutraility. One og the only problems I have is the alliances; you can't leave them like you can in Making History; The Calm And The Storm. And, personally for me, the game has never crashed. If you like Grand Strategy games, this is one of the best.

As a crash simulator I give this game 9/10, deducting one point because it hasn't caused me to blow my brains out just yet.

As a WWII simulator I give it a 8/10... for the few parts that aren't ruined by constant crashes while in a vanilla game.
