A beautiful visual and auditory tour de force supported by deep exploration in a 2D world and a "complicated combat system that calls back to Final Fantasy’s Active Time Battles – a dense interplay of buffs, interrupts and attacks that injects a realtime element to otherwise turnbased fights".

Quote attributed to RPS.

Child of Light is why we play games and kudos to my dear friend who introduced me to this fantastic game. I am eternally beholden for both your generousity and your foresight in recognizing that I would enjoy this remarkable and imaginative title.

***YOU HAVE TO CREATE AND REGISTER A UPLAY ACCOUNT TO PLAY THIS GAME. ONCE YOU LOG IN YOU CANNOT TRANSFER YOUR LICENSE TO ANOTHER ACCOUNT. IF YOU WANT TO DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT YOU HAVE TO WAIT WEEKS FOR SUPPORT TO FULFILL YOUR REQUEST. YOU HAVE TO PLAY ON UPLAY SERVERS. THIS MEANS IF UPLAY SERVERS ARE DOWN, YOU CANNOT PLAY THIS GAME.***

If you are ok with all of that, by all means enjoy. But since they don't explain that on the store page, just hope you are lucky enough to see this. It is also not listed under system requirements, even though you cannot play the game without a uplay account (seems like a requirement to me). F*** Uplay.

Dear child,

Tuck yourself in and listen to what I have to say.
It is for those too, who have doubts with Uplay.

When I first heard that a third party program needs to be installed,
I thought 'It's too much a bother to be buying this at all'.
But I was in love with the game as I was with Odin Sphere,
so I researched and researched until all doubts were clear.

It seems that Uplay has improved over the years,
as told by a friend whom I very love so dear.
After registering I instantly unravelled
that once I ticked 'auto login' it is never a hassle.
Switch Uplay to offline mode so it won’t meddle.

As confused as I was along the way,
thorough research finally made me pay
and playing this game now makes my day.

Child of Light is like a delightful bedtime story.
You play as a little girl, very cute and dandy,
though her arms are a little bit wobbly
to be carrying a sword both sharp and pointy.

What I really appreciate is the effort that they took
to make each and every sentence look so good.
The beautiful world of Lemuria will captivate your eyes,
with beautifully matched music as you zip through the sky.

Bottom line be told,
This game is made of gold.
I did not regret buying it a single bit,
and I’m writing this so that your path may be lit.

Godspeed.

A charming game with beautiful visuals, fun combat, and a decent story.

This isn't the best game I've played, far from it, but it was well made and enjoyable enough. After my saunter through the main story and a few side quests (8-9 hours), I was ready to be done. I left a few side quests unfinished. After you beat the game you are given the option to keep playing and finish what you started, but I was ready to be done. Also, the first time I tried to play it didn't really take with me. Not sure if the beginning is very boring or if I was in the wrong mood.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, it's a sidescrolling RPG with a turn based combat system similar to maybe an old Final Fantasy game. The entire game is presented as a children's story, and everyone rhymes everything they say. This leads to a few funny moments but can get pretty old. The story is a children's story cliche, but it's done well enough.

There is a good value for the asking price (even not on sale, 15 bucks isn't bad!). It's really nice to see a AAA studio take a chance and do something that isn't another iteration of their tried and true franchises and make a game like this. So although not perfect, I'm glad this game exists, and I recommend you play it if the subject matter interests you.

Wonderful game.

Among the advantages:
+ Interesting storyline.
+ Very beautiful location.
+ Atmospheric soundtrack, which is ideal to the events from game.

Among the few drawbacks:
- Slightly bored with fights. But for me it isn't much affected on sensations from game.

Total 9 Auror out of 10.
I recommend it.

A unique RPG that blends a feel between Final Fantasy & a fairy tale. The main arc of the story is quite interesting and entraces your mind to delve deeper into the story. Surprised that this game is published Ubisoft; but therein lies the problem.

Pros:
+ Beautiful and unique art style
+ Gorgeous soundtrack
+ Engaging and interactive battle system
+ Most characters are likeable

Cons:
- "Uplay" Ubisoft DRM

Overall: DRM is annoying and just terribly inconvenient in ways more than one. Battle system plays out a little like "South Park: Stick of Truth" if you've played it. Other than that, I wholeheartedly recommend this game for all of its positive aspects, a fantastic game if you're an avid RPG fan. I sincerely hope they can release another game from this universe or another game like this.

TL;DR 10/10 rhyming simulator 2014 is good.

Come for the simple, yet fun, combat and stay for the beautiful vistas. If you like RPGs and don't have an unspeakable hatred against rhyming you should play this game.

It's literally like playing a bed time fantasy story. Also everyone talks in rythmes, how can you resist it's charm?
Aside from the cute story the gameplay is pretty neat too, if you are a fan of classic final fantasy game the gameplay is similar to those, leveling your character and party, gearing them up with different gems, and strategic battles where timing is very important.

I have never played such a beautiful game such as Child of Light. I was shocked to see Ubisoft develop an arcade game like this but its story was emotional and actually has a moral to it.Though it only took me 9 hours to finish the main story, I highly recommend this game.
Every single character and companion comes with a great back story and are very well developed. The world is beautiful, you can tell that from my screenshots. And this game adds a real-time feel to its turn based combat. Honestly, this game doesn’t cost much and is an open world game so it is truly worth your money. Give it a try

This is a really good RPG with a good story and pretty neat battle system. I also really enjoy the art style and the music.

Like many other Ubisoft games, it uses Uplay. If that's a problem for you then you probably shouldn't buy it. But if you're like me and Uplay doesn't cause you any problems, then this game is very much worth the 15 dollar asking price!
