September 11 is now live: Teleport Station bug fix

This is a quick fix to repair worlds where teleport stations were changed into monster blocks. It will update existing worlds automatically by returning teleport stations to their original behavior and appearance.

Beta - A small but important fix for teleport stations.

Some players found previously placed teleport stations were disappointingly converted into monster spawners.

This patch fixes that by returning them to their true state. All blocks that were originally teleport stations before patch will again work as expected. Your saved worlds should be automatically repaired when you next load them.

No other blocks should be affected in any way. We're going to keep this as a beta build for a couple days to validate the fix.

Let us know if you experience any issues with the Beta build!

Thank you to those that reported this issue. We appreciate your help and understanding!

About This Game

CastleMiner Z is an online coop survival horror game in a block based environment. Travel with your friends in a huge, ever-changing world and craft modern weapons to defend yourself from dragons and the zombie horde!

Game Play

CastleMiner Z is an infinite world filled with deep places to explore, and horrifying monsters to slay. Build structures out of blocks, craft weapons and tools from raw materials, and explore the vast and frightening world around you.

Play by yourself or online with friends in any of these exciting game modes:

  • Endurance Mode: There are tales of a place beyond the mountains where Hell itself has torn through. How far can you get before you succumb to the zombies, dragons, skeletons, or other enemies that thirst for your blood? Run, fight, and sneak your way across dry deserts, snowy mountains, and icy expanses on your quest to vanquish the ultimate guardians of the abyss. In Endurance Mode, the world is randomized each game and the death of your party is permanent.
  • Survival Mode: If you enjoy Endurance, but would rather build permanent structures and defenses, Survival Mode is where you’ll spend your time.
  • Creative Mode: With simplified crafting and the ability to adjust or eliminate the enemy threat, Creative Mode is a great place to build vast structures in peace.
  • Dragon Survival Mode: For those who like their trophies big and their hair singed and smoking, Dragon Survival Mode brings you up close and personal with wave after wave of the biggest, meanest, scaliest brutes in the game.

Worlds can be saved in any game mode (except endurance) so try building a castle with enemies turned off, then grabbing some friends and loading it up with enemies turned on!

Calling it a Minecraft clone would be an insult to Minecraft.

  • Easy Start: You start off with a pickaxe, some torches, a compass, a knife, a gun, and a few bullets. Enough to get started on your adventure.
  • Pretty Spooky: I never thought I'd soil so many diapers from hearing the rattling bones of skeletons spawning or the ambient screams of zombies appearing on the surface. Not to mention, the zombies move pretty quickly and that makes a good jumpscare. It's like trying to kill a spider.
  • Progressive: The progression in this game isn't on par with Skyrim or anything like that, but you definitely do not end up where you started. Unless you fall into hell.
  • Depth: There are a few things that the game doesn't tell you. For example, you can travel out to reach a ton of different biomes. In fact, the biomes slowly slope downwards into hell like a very long ramp. Just before you get to hell, though, you come across something called "Miner's Paradise," a biome that contains a stupidly-large amount of ore for you to mine. Another example would be how the colors of the hostile mobs tell you how tough they are. They change color as you travel outwards. I don't know which is the strongest or weakest, but I know that green zombies can cause a problem.

Before you buy this game, go over the bad stuff. If I list only good items, you'll think that this game is the best thing since sliced bread.

  • Slow: This game isn't optimized very well. If you have a modern PC you should have no problem with this game, though.
  • Repetitive: What do you do when you've already gotten your bloodstone gear? Unlike Minecraft, there is no redstone to tinker with. No animals to experiment on. There's nothing that keeps you playing it once you've gotten good gear.
  • Health/Armor: Zombies, skeletons, and everything in between can take you out rather quickly. There is no armor for you to craft and protect yourself with.
  • Short Fun: This game isn't fun for long. You don't even have to get top-tier gear before you start playing it less and less until you've uninstalled the game. It makes for a fun game night every once in a blue moon, but anything more than that could easily feel like a chore. This game doesn't maintain interest very well.
  • "PickAxe": The spelling could use some work.
  • Abandoned: You don't have to be a genius to see that development on this game is about as slow as development on Half-Life 3. It probably doesn't even exist.

If I were to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 5. I recommend the game for the amount of fun you'll have with friends for a short time along with its cheap price. Apart from that, I wouldn't recommend it.

I bought this game 6 times , once for the xbox 360 , once on the website , and a four pack. I have played it for years And what can I say. This game is made by a hard working team of developers , overall the best game to mix crafting with a minecraft feel, and zombies, skeletons, dragons. so peace to them. Keep up the good work

Okay, look, a blocky game with lower res, guns, zombies and dragons. Many are quick to judge on something they play for 5 minutes, then write a bandwagon review to fit in. Cute.
My play time isnt the highest, but I never played it on here originally, I played on the 360 first, saw it had a more devoted PC port, then switched to it.

It's a SURVIVAL game, people complain about it not having a point. They say it's a Minecraft clone, but Minecraft is just as pointless, good job. The point is to not die. There.
If you know how to play the game, you can get laser weapons in like 6 mins tops.
If you cant find a server, play solo! It's not that hard to play alone.
If you recieved it for free, lucky you! You get a free five minutes to play then complain in reviews!

I've enjoyed this game thoroughly, it's been fun to play with my friend, and fun to play alone. I appreciate the time the devs take to respond and pace their updates. I like the non-toxic playerbase. I like the direction this game could go if people would stop tying it down to try and kill it.
I like the game.
The only bad things I have about this game are:
The balancing of early zombies/skellies/dragons.
The fact that at about 25k blocks out you start to just walk through blocks in a linear line away and towards the spawn.
Gun models are a bit poor too, but that's not a major concern, they fulfill their functions properly.
Frame rate tanks during dragon fireballs, but not enough to dstroy the gameplay.
OP alien health.
Teleport load times sometimes freeze on 50% for a minute or two.
Zombies slowing you down, you escaping, them standing where they were before, then slapping you to death if they aren't dead yet.
PvP being off but damaging other players with explosives.
Laser swords having low durbility.
Zombies sailing around your head while you desperately try to shoot them.
Aliens spawnin every two seconds while trying to get space rock/goo.
Skeleton snipers.

Suggestions for devs:
Tweak the zombie speed and jumping a bit, really hard to get a bead on anything if there's more than one of them.
Another enemy class, tankier and slow, high close range dmg, medium long range dmg/faster, low dmg, actively tries to stay hidden/enemy support unit?/more boss units, including some minions.
A random gen world mode would be cool, buildings already made and such, zombie apocalypse type dealy. Or just different map types.
Craftable armor.
More melee options than a knife/laser sword/axe. Maybe swords. Ranged melee would be cool too, like kunai or something.
Different dmg types, like pshysical, fire, ice, that kind of stuff.
Enemy health bars. Please. Fighting dragons is enough without having to guess its health.
Crafting different laser weapon colors exhibits some sort of effect, red, blue, green, yellow, that sort of thing, but different for each weapon class, Rifles focusing more on blatant range/dmg with additional piercing or elemental effects, SMGs focusing on status effects like slow/poison/fire/freeze, shotguns having projectile effects (Slug, Shorter range/wider spread/more pellets, field choke), Assault rifles having dmg over time and fire rate effects, pistols having supportive effects for you and other people, not necessarily those exact one, but you get my point.
Gun attachments would be cool, but not necessary.
Decrease energy loss when sprinting/double jumping. P L E A S E.
Different player models.
Water in-game.
A few more biomes, maybe have the maps vary on which ones are present.
Different start locations other than the generic grassy forest place.

Love it or hate it, it's all down to preference I guess.
I'd really appreciate the devs taking their time to read through this and responding with feedback, I've seen it a couple times.
Player feedback is appreciated too.

I like the game, but is there going to be controller support like the console edition? if do that would be amazing for me, because i have tendonitis and the flat keyboard hurts if i use it too much, i'm currently using JoytoKey, but it's not the same, it doesn't flow as well.

But for the game review, if you say it's a minecraft clone, you've obviously never played it or minecraft, this has guns, and more dragons, better enemies, and more progression, if you play this game for let's say, 2 minutes, and say it's like minecraft, play for longer, and go past 100 max distance, you'll learn pretty F***ing quick that it's not, the block graphics may be a little similar, but there's a lot more to this game than that.

i've been playing longer than the 8.5 hours it says at the time of writing this, i played in alpha/beta a while ago, and put in about 50+ hours into it back then, so, i'd say, try it, if you don't like it, meh, it's $4, i bought a 4 pack for me and my friends to play (they're not too good at it XD)
