Well, I looked for something like MoO2 (yeah, yeah, I know) or Endless Space, at least. What I got? Well, I started my game at Normal difficulty with every single race present. I wanted to fool around, to understand how it all works. And after a couple of turns I realized that a technology victory path is SHORT. Like, real short. I won the game and the only fight I had was when a pirate clan attacked my unarmed scout (BTW, no retreat option).
So, I won. But that was a very disappointing victory... in one hour. Including reading the tutorials. Which are done badly, because:
a) Font is difficult to read in 1920x1080
b) Tutorials are plain text. Short and boring.
c) This text is divided to pages and they look ridicuosly in HD: a small chunk of text floating in the middle of 22" display. Hey, guys! Either make font to correspond with screen resolution, or show all the text at once when resolution allows that.
Basically, I don't understand why play this game at all. And I can't say much about gameplay because for me it looked like "click-click-click - secure technological advance (as always in space 4X) - click-click-click - oops, you won".
Yes, the victory screen is ridiculous too. "You won! Here is logo of your race. Bye."
So far, my most disappointing Steam purchase. Even considering 50% discount.
