What the developers say:

WARNING - Plague Inc: Evolved is currently in active development and features dangerous pathogens – please wash your hands after playing to avoid infection!

On a serious note – we are still hard at work adding in new content and cool features - the game is stable and polished but not currently feature-complete. Please only buy the game now if you are OK with this and understand that you may also encounter bugs (not the good, world-killing kind...).

At the moment, you can play all of the core single player game with 9 disease types and 3 cheat modes, the mind-controlling Neurax Worm, the zombie-making Necroa Virus, Official Scenarios and the Speed Run gameplay mode – all redeveloped from scratch for PC with significant enhancements.

In the coming weeks – we will be releasing regular (free) updates which will add in cooperative and competitive multiplayer and the Custom Scenario Creator along with other things.

Over 25 million people have played Plague Inc. to date and the input I have received so far has been invaluable. Please get in touch and let me know what you think about the game and my plans. If you are interested, you can view the development plan and help set priorities

Early Access Evolution 6 released - Official Scenarios

April 24th, 2014

This update brings a major new gameplay system to Plague Inc: Evolved in the form of the Official Scenarios. Develop new strategies and approaches for 14 distinct scenarios covering a world economy destroyed by a US debt default – all the way through to the resurgence of the medieval Black Death!

Scenarios significantly increase the amount of content – giving you new challenges and experiences to test your skills to the limit.
There are two main types of scenario:

  • Real life diseases – begin the game with fully evolved, real life pathogens like the Black Death, Swine flu or HIV. Players can model how an outbreak would happen in real life as well as mutating the pathogen to try and get it to infect the whole world.
  • Alternative universes – choose a pathogen to infect a world that has been impacted by something like a US Debt default, an outbreak of xenophobia or a new mini ice age. Players can see how different events can shape the ability of the world to respond to global pandemics and work out how to best exploit the new conditions.
We will also be adding more scenarios in the future, as well as giving you the opportunity to create your own in the custom scenario creator.

As for what's next, we are hard at work on Evolution 7, which is going to be a big one! It's going to take us a few weeks to get it ready and we will share more information soon - so make sure to keep an eye on the forums.

Major changes:
  • Official Scenarios added
  • Enhanced 3D models show your disease evolving and growing over time
  • Hot keys (1 to 4) allow faster disease screen navigation

About the Game

Can you infect the world?

Plague Inc: Evolved is a unique mix of high strategy and terrifyingly realistic simulation. Your pathogen has just infected 'Patient Zero' - now you must bring about the end of human history by evolving a deadly, global Plague whilst adapting against everything humanity can do to defend itself.

Plague Inc. is so realistic that the CDC even asked the developer to come and speak about the infection models in the game! http://blogs.cdc.gov/publichealthmatters/2013/04/plague-inc/.

Over 25 million players have been infected by Plague Inc., and Plague Inc: Evolved combines the original critically acclaimed gameplay with significant, all-new features for PC:

  • Infectious Multiplayer - cooperative and competitive gameplay modes let you team up to fight the cure with friends, or compete in a race to kill the world.
  • Contagious Content Creator - hit the lab and develop your own custom scenarios, creating new plague types and worlds. Bring your deadliest ideas to life and share them with Steam Workshop.
  • Blinding Graphics - including full 3D disease models taking you closer to your plague than ever before, city-cams showing humanity's struggle at street level, and the body scanner highlighting the full effect of your mutations, organ by organ.
  • Deadly Data - predict government responses with priority indicators, geek out with loads of new stats and graphs, and analyse your best strategies with end-of-game replays.

Please note that Plague Inc: Evolved is currently in Early Access (see above for more details). We are currently hard at work and will be adding / polishing features over the coming weeks. More information: http://www.ndemiccreations.com/en/31-plague-inc-evolved-early-access.

Is it worth buying now... No, not really. It's alpha to the max and it should be getting patched daily but as many people have argued, the price is a tad rediculous. Maybe we'll see something extreme with this version but other than the nicer visuals I would only advise spending 15 if you're a hardcore supporter or fan. It's fun, but just like it's mobile versions it's just a big time waster with minimal interactions on your part. Like much of the community and fanbase I requested James lower the pricing as this is just an alpha but he refused to budge; it's his game and honestly if he feels it should stay so pricey that's on him.

Far too many people are losing their minds in many different languages on the discussions page, I'd advise steering clear of that as it's just the rabble being angry. Can you get the game for free on your phone? Sure! Is it the exact same game? Yeah, it is. Is it intelligent to price a game so high just for flashier graphics? I suppose it can be depending on just how far he plans on taking it!

James if you're reading this, release the Zombie and Mindworm options as soon as possible as it's pretty much the biggest thing people want to see right now is just how horrific and spooky they can be. The more odd-ended plagues you give us that aren't just copycats of the exact same 6-7 we have had, the more fans you'll make!

I'd also like to note that you can unlock most of the different strains so at least that part is out of the way! :D

TL;DR: Go play the mobile one for free! Come back in two or three months, then buy the game!

So far i realy like this game, the more you win and unlock features the more you want to try things differently. I lost first time played not realising i had to kill everyone, it was a long struggle with bacteria but got the job done, next up using a virus, i had a read of everything carefully used it as best i could, man did it spread fast, i had it mutating quickly, so quick in fact i started to feel bad for the world i had started to destroy.
It is in alpha and seems expensive but for a game with the depth it has, such as checking the stats and whats going on in each country, looking at the camera feeds too, it's worth the money, all the bits that will be added will make this a game everyone should have like the multiplayer feature[yet to be turned on]
paying 12 euro for a game i know i can keep coming back too is better than paying 30-40+ for something i wouldn't play again.
hopefully he'll add a demo for players to try, i know he'll get sales if he does this, you won't regret getting this, feel free to add me here on steam so later we can destroy the world together :D

This was one of my favorite mobile strategy games, and now is one of my favorite PC strategy games. The different pathogen types allow for drastically different playstyles, each with its own respective strengths and weaknesses. While the label says early access, don't be fooled: It is a polished game in about the same state as the original when it launched, and is just not content-complete. I wholeheartedly recommend this game to any strategy game fans, supervillians, bioterrorists, sadists, and anyone looking to have a good time. HAIL THE NEURAX WORM.
