Usually I don' write many reviews but since this is my favorite mmo - also the best one I've ever played I figured to write a hopefully helpful review. I get the feeling that many people in the review section only leveled up their toon from 1-30 and missed out on all the good stuff this game has to offer. I played this game way before I migrated it on steam, so let me tell you I've played it a LOT.

First of all as a response to all those ridiculous P2win comments. No, this game is not pay to win. I understand how it can come across that way to new players (mainly because of the 2000 cash cap in game) but it is clearly not. You can't buy anything in the marketplace which gives you an advantage over other players. You can't buy gear in the marketplace. In fact you will have to grind a lot in this game. Whether you use replay badges or not, the drops are random, the grinding will be about the same. Yes, this game is a pay to play model in my opinion since DLC's do cost real money and it is not possible for F2P players to compete at all in any high gear content (or even see the content) if they are not legendary. But in addition almost all the games out there are the same in high gear content. Also I think that the all access model is absolutely a fair deal, since 15€ are not really a big deal at all for what you get. Which is: Premium benefits in the following SOE games: DCUO, Everquest, Everquest 2 and Planetside. Also they will be adding 3 more games to the list soon.

You will have the choice to play as a villain or hero. This influences your whole gameplay, your missions, raids storylines and also the players you will encounter since heroes and villains can not interact other than in PVP or via the Versus chat. You will have the choice to play as the known roles Tank, DPS, healer and the support role of the controller who gives mana to the group, debuffs enemies and much more. There are plenty of powers you can choose from, every power can DPS and play one the other 3 roles. The gameplay of this game is smooth but I really have to say that the real game starts once you are past level 30. I really would not judge the game according to solo missions and Area 51 for example, the solo content in DCUO really isn't that strong. The whole game is more focused on PVE content for 4-8 players. There are also some Duos you can rock with a partner. What is also important is that the game gets significantly better once you are over combat rating 70 (cr=combat rating is basically the leveling system of this game) which is Tier 4. Starting at Tier 5 content the game gets more challenging, you get more variaton and can start to play the game more seriously. I do not recommend queueing up on some servers since most people use LFG (looking for group) to find groups. Of course you will also be able to join or even create a league which makes it easier to level up and understand the game...also adds a lot of fun.

PVP plays a pretty small role in this game since it's PVE based but you will find players who mainly enjoy the pvp side of things too without doing a lot of PVE. You get to play in Arenas from 1vs1 to 8vs8 as your own toon or in Legends PVP as iconic heroes or villains You will get your first legend character via Mail, which is Harley Quinn for Villains and Robin for Heroes. Both good characters to get started in PVP and learn a bit about important mechanics like blocking, blockbreaking and lunging. PVP is actually fair since the latest update, since your toon gets buffed if you play against stronger players - and their toon gets nerfed. So even as a level 10 player you can go into PVP safely and practice all you want. There is also a seperated open world PVP you will have access to. You can actually change from PVP to PVE and vice versa via the phase shifter. So PVP and PVE worlds are not seperate.

The storylines are attached and make sense, there will be some trilogies later in which the stories are actually better. I have to say the story really goes a bit short on DC universe online but they are improving. Comic book fans will really nerd over some of the things and bosses DCUO has to offer. The graphics are totally okay for a mmo..there are better graphics, they could improve some things but they are okay. The UI of this game is very clear, new players will not have any problems to get into it fast.

Last but not least this game has one of the nicest communties I have ever seen. New players will not have a problem to recieve help from more experienced players.

All in all 9/10..there are some things that require some improvement but if you are looking for a smooth, fun and sometimes challenging superhero and villain based game you will like DCUO.

What can i say....going on 3500 hours played at the time of this review and still love it....great game that you can come back to again and again! It has MMORPG aspects but is more of an action game...end game content can get a bit repetitive but is always being updated. I think getting a subscription would be better than buying DLC but F2P is not bad either...Try It!

The main problem I have with this game is that it is (dead), atleast compared to how it was before. It is really hard to group up with anyone, you would be better off playing with friends. However I think the only thing that could save this game from completely dieing would be making all accounts legendary and letting everyone have access to all content, besides the cosmetics ( which you would still have to buy). They would still make money but the game would be a lot more accessible to a larger audience. Other games have shown that this is still an affective way to make a profit, for example Path of Exile< There is a reason the game is dead you basically can't play it for free which is what puts off a lot of players, considering it is advertised to be a f2p game.

Seriously a contender for best MMO I've ever played, and I've played almost every one of them. The combat system is really intense. Universal block and dodge, click combo-system much like Vindictus or Tera. The quality of the game is overall amazing. PvE and PvP are both intense. Not pay-to-win in any way whatsoever. Full controller support. If you are tired of the extremely over-used fantasy setting and plot, have ever liked any kind of super-hero, or have ever wanted to fly around through a city with friends, this is the game to play. Download it and stop reading this NOW....>..>>

You can become the next DC Legend with this game that's for the PC/PS3/PS4. But I recommend the PC Version over the PS3/PS4 versions for easy handling.

This game is great. Play with friends. Massive open world MMO, where you can explore the whole of Gotham City. Face against iconic heroes and villains as you choose your side in the fight. There are many weapons and abilities to unlock and upgrade, including the amazing acrobatics movement letting you climb walls and glide down. It's free as well so what more do you want?

Yet another Free to Play, Pay to Win game. I hate it when games do this, but I still stick with DCUO anyways. Maybe it is my obsession with DC that keeps bringing me back, however it isn't strong enough for me to pay 120 dollars a year to have a full subsription. My suggestion for DC would be to drop the optional subcription and just charge for really super powered weapons and armor that people can choose to buy if they really want to. Thtat would make DCUO the best action RPGMMO in my opinion. The fighting is a blast, the character creation is amazingly in depth AND you can even play the game on a Playstation if you prefer console over PC. It truly is an amazing game, a blast to play and full of tons of fun missions against recognizable badies throughout the DC Universe (or good guys if you chose to be evil). I would absolutely suggest giving this game a try, but don't pay money for extra stuff. We need to let DC know that we don't like the way they try and take our money through extras that should be available to anyone using money you earn in-game.

I dont know about this one. Way too much DLC and is just flat out boring at times when your clicking you mouse fighting the same things over and over again. The story should be in a DC movie (i think that would be great) but at times a think some things are just not needed in the game. For example: it takes alot of time to beat the game right but thats how all MMO"s are you cant change that but there is not enough new things that happen in the game. Once you get the raids and that kinda of stuff done what are you gonna do later buy DLC. Yeah i know its free to play what do you expect but there is too much DLC and it makes you feel like your paying for a 60 dollar game yet ITS MORE THAN THAT. This is what i hate about the game. Too much DLC makes you feel like you are the poorest person in the world. The next reason is the game is bugged to the point where i think it is in the Alpha stages like flying and running glitches and bugs everywhere. The controls are not to bad but suck. Not enough to do after you finish the story on both good and evil. the raids are stupid by the way its just like the storylines but worse. No good powers without DLC. why even talk about PVP when everyone there has overpriced DLC. Now go ahead disagree with me it has good things too but i dont feel like typing anymore. I give it a 5/10. its fine by itslef but imagine if it was a 60 dollar game there is really nothing else to do but click away for the amount of time you play it. My final opinon is it sucks balls.

If you haven't played this game then hurry up and download it. It's FREE to try and I guarantee you will be hooked.

In the beginning you must choose your morality(Hero or Villain), character presets and superpower class then complete a brief 10 minute tutorial to get you geared up for beating people in the face. After the tutorial you land in one of two cities: Gotham or Metropolis. From here you help your iconic superhero/villain mentor complete various missions either by flight, acrobat or superspeed.
The customization of character styles is fantastic... you can change everything from head to toe including 3 customizable preset colour regions on each piece of gear. There are thousands of different styles to collect which also adds points to to a 'Feat' achievement system which assist your character in improving their combat statistics/abilities. Also the variation in abilities/traits allows every single player in the game to be completely unique.

There are 1P, 2P 4P and 8P missions in which you can queue for via a 'Duty Tab' and immediately begin fighting along your favourite Heroes or Villains from the DC comics. The PvE content will keep you very entertained for many hours. In the 4P and 8P instances you must have various support classed teammates in order to complete them or else you will all die. The four classes are: Tank, Healer, Controller(restores power for casting abilities/superpowers) and Damage Dealer.

If PvP is more your thing, you can play in a parallel phase of Metropolis or Gotham where you can focus on fighting players of the opposite morality. There are also various Arena maps to queue for in the Duty Tab where you can put your tactics, skill and ego to the test from 1v1 instances to 8v8 maps including game modes such as: Capture and hold, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag and all out Deathmatches.

-Instant action gameplay
-Must use skill, teamplay and tactics to survive
-Amazing character development/customization
-Fantastic endgame content
-Character level is based on overall level of equipment rather than experience gained. You cannot buy/farm your way to the top, you have to earn it by defeating enemies. This game is definitely not an AFKer's MMORPG
-You have a home base which you can customize with furniture, teleporters and create/store modifications for your character's gear
-Very interactive co-operative gameplay; you can create a League(guild/clan) with an easy to manage rank/filter system

-You will become addicted
-Paying for the various DLC's can become costly, I recommend paying for the SOE All Access membership which will give you content access to most of their games such as Planetside 2 and the Everquest games.
-Newer players may find it more difficult to matchmake instances because higher tiered players are commonly running the high-end raids/alerts. I would recommend joining a good league as soon as possible so they can assist you if you need help.
-Thor and Spiderman are from Marvel comics so you won't find them in DCUO :(
-The general game interface is a standard console-like interface from Playstation or Xbox making the controls a bit more awkward from the crossover between console versus PC. This game is also available on PS3 and PS4 so that is most likely the reason you may prefer to connect a controller to your PC although I use a mouse and keyboard and can play just fine... you can always customize all the buttons on your keyboard/controller to suit your liking.
-If you don't play this game you are missing out on a lot of fun.

Good luck!

Probably one of my favorite games to play. Even without the character creation, uh... thing. (My favorite thing about it) I'd still play it anyway. Think the inFAMOUS series on the Playstation, but with a more WoW style.

Now, DC Universe Online is a game when you can eaither create your own superhero from scratch, or base it on a actuall superhero (eg. Batman Superman Wonder Women Flash Green Lantern etc, etc). The plot is this, Lex Luthor makes an army of villans to destroy the heroes in the DC universe, wich he succeds with. But he realised what a monster he is, so he goes back in time to tell the justice league that he had killed them in the future. But he finds a even greater enemy known as 'Braniac' forming a even larger army to destroy the world. But lex luthor has stolen thes things called Exobites which he put heroes and Villans DNA into. So these exobites spread their DNA across the world Forming new Heroes an Villains. Now while branian is attcking, there are other villains like Bane, Joker, Scarecrow, Circe, Giganta, Gorilla Grodd, and heaps more to be discovered in Dc Universe Online!
