Celebrate Batman Day with DCUO!

Saturday, September 17, 2016 is an auspicious day in this part of Gotham City (and the whole DC Universe). It’s Batman Day! Batman appears in many forms in DCUO; revisit our feature from last year to see him in his many in-game forms.

This year, in honor of the truly legendary Dark Knight, we have some special happenings inside DCUO! But rather than limit them to a single day, they’ll be occurring for nearly an entire week – from Thursday, September 15 through Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Legends PvE Week

Batman is the quintessential Legend. So this week all Legends PvE events are open for all players! Ready to head to the South Gotham Courthouse? Think you have what it takes to tackle Area 51? Will the Hall of Doom or the Paradox Wave prove to be your undoing? There are twelve events in total that you can attempt during the Legends PvE Week, from September 15 through September 21, 2016!

Marketplace Sale

In addition to the Legends event, if you head to the Marketplace you’ll find that Exobyte Data for all Legends characters are on sale for 40% off! Ever wanted to experience Legends content as Future Batman? Maybe Bombshell Catwoman? Or Arkham Asylum Joker? These and more will be available during our weeklong sale.

And if that weren’t enough, we’re also marking Batman-related items in the Marketplace down 40% as well! This includes base items (like the Batcomputer & More Pack), style items (such as the Batman Cowl Pack), toys (the Batman bouncy ball!) and more. Get Caped Crusader style and decorate your personal Batcave to match, all at a great discount.

Trivia Sweepstakes

We’ll have news about this ON Batman Day, September 17. Check the DCUO forums and follow @DCUO on Twitter to see the details and to enter!

Now, it’s time to be the hero (or villain) that DCUO deserves. Head in game and start celebrating Batman Day in Gotham City and beyond!

The event and sale begin in the US with daily server restarts at 4AM PT on September 15, 2016, and end at 4AM PT on September 22, 2016. The event and sale begin in the EU with daily server restarts at 8PM PT on September 14, 2016, and end at 8PM PT on September 21, 2016.

Available Now: Time Capsules and Game Update 63!

As you may have heard, Booster Gold has been filling up Time Capsules with lots of useful and exciting items to send through the Multiverse to you! These have now begun appearing in game with Game Update 63. But how do you find them? How can you open them? What’s waiting for you when you do? Let’s take a few minutes to prepare for their arrival and find out…

HOW TO OBTAIN A TIME CAPSULE:

Time Capsules can be obtained through regular gameplay. You don’t need to do anything special in order to get these. As you’re playing the game as you normally would, you will eventually find a capsule waiting for you when you defeat an enemy.

HOW TO OPEN A TIME CAPSULE:

To open a capsule, you’ll need a Stabilizer. There are two ways to obtain a stabilizer: purchasing one from the Marketplace for 100 Daybreak Cash (PC) or Marketplace Cash (Console), or putting one together through gameplay.

When you purchase a whole Stabilizer from the Marketplace, you can use it right away to open your capsule.

In game, you’ll need to find Stabilizer Fragments. You can use these fragments to piece together a full stabilizer, which can open a capsule. Stabilizer Fragments can currently be earned in-game in the new Duo Event, “Suicide Squad Training.” Head to Belle Reve to fight against guards, and possibly come face-to-face with a member of the Suicide Squad! You can find this in your On Duty menu under the “Events” tab.

Suicide Squad Training can be completed once per account per day. Free players will receive 3 Stabilizer Fragments per event, Premium players will receive 4 Stabilizer Fragments per event, and Members will receive 6 Stabilizer Fragments per event. It will take 15 Stabilizer Fragments to build a complete Stabilizer. Stabilizer Fragments and Stabilizers are special types of currency that are shared by all characters on your account.

Once you use a stabilizer to open a capsule, you’ll see what sort of goodies Booster Gold has sent to you!

WHAT IS INSIDE A TIME CAPSULE:

Each capsule is tradable and once opened will include a variety of useful, mostly tradable, items. Some of these items will be included inside a separate capsule or box inside the Time Capsule. These contain styles, auras, collections, and gear, including:

Future Crusader’s Gear

Get one of these boxes in your Time Capsules and you’ll find it contains Future Batman-inspired gear that is level-appropriate to your character. There are different boxes for different item types, including Head, Shoulders, Back, Chest, Waist, Hands, Legs, or Boots.

These boxes are tradable until they’re consumed; then, since the gear becomes attuned to your current character’s role and level, they will be locked to that character.

Lantern Corps Emblems

Show your support of the Lantern Corps with these new Emblems! There is an emblem available for every Corps:

  • Black Lantern Corps
  • White Lantern Corps
  • Orange Lantern Corps
  • Red Lantern Corps
  • Blue Lantern Corps
  • Green Lantern Corps
  • Indigo Tribe
  • Sinestro Corps
  • Star Sapphire Corps

In addition to adding flair to your in-game appearance, each Emblem grants a feat, as does collecting them all!

Misted Auras

When you collect certain items from the capsules, they will go towards completing a collection that rewards you with a misted aura – Green, Amber, or Red!

Think any of your Lantern Corps-inspired characters could use one of these?

AND MORE!

New stat/ability mods, Exobytes, R&D materials, other styles, and additional helpful items will also be found in the capsules. To hear additional information about these new Time Capsules, and to see some of the style items in action, rewatch this livestream replay from July 2016:

Time Capsules are now available with the launch of Game Update 63! Stay tuned to the official forums and DCUO Social Channels (Twitter, Facebook) for more information!

This game is awesome the combat is alot of fun and the instances and missions are pretty cool, the gear editor really makes this game stand out and for any game with a comic backbone you will spend ages messing around with colours etc.

It is not the best game ever made but it is a good MMO with plenty to do.

Playing to level 30 is very enjoyable, but end game is not as great as the leveling, if you're like me and enjoy playing alot of diff characters then it is great but if you enjoy end game content then get your money ready, I havn't bought alot of content for this so i cannot comment on price to play ratio.

The download is rather big but if you want experience a comic driven MMO with all your favourite DC Characters then look no futher.

Pay to win game. It was also developed "cross platform" and relies on controller button pressing combos that do not mesh well with PC.
Also, you will have to pay for pretty much every single DLC "patch" or update they release.

The time up to lvl 30 can be fun, but forget about doing any of the "alerts" if you want to actually play the game. Same at level 30, all the alerts and raids are just watching people way over lvl'd speed run thru. Stuff will be dead before you even get to the rooms half the time, and sure you get loot drops etc, you'll have no idea how to play because this will be the next month or two of not playing and just watching speed runs.

The endgame mechanics are pretty awful, as 30 is the lvl cap, but then you have combat rating, or CR as they call it. Which is like a secondary lvl mechanic. That will change soon however and their going to a stat based system, how is apparently use to be. You raise those by equipment, and with skillpoints. How do you gain skillpoints? Feats, which are essentially what everyone else calls achievements. So between your monthly raid locks, you get to go run around doing dumb stuff for the feats. Like what, you may ask? Like speed running thru the lower level alerts & raids. Yup.. the game actually promotes that.

If you're a big fan of DC, it couldn't hurt to try a free trial, but I wouldn't waste money on it til you get to lvl 30 (it won't take long at all, trust me) and see what you think of the "end game." If talking in chat while waiting for alerts & raids, so you can do more of nothing while people speed run it, but still get fancy loot you'll never actually use sounds like fun to you, then maybe think about throwing money at them.

Long story short this is a game if you haven't tried it you don't know what your missing.

Still it does have some obvious flaws, including that it's undeniably pay-to-win. However as someone who believes in a "Give Nothing Get Nothing" Policy I have no problems with a microtransaction or two - if it makes the game more enjoyable.

Still I recommend you try it inspite of it's pay-to-win hierarchy because it is quite fun; I haven't reached level 30 yet (character level cap) but I have gotten into some PvP Fights and a couple of dungeons and they were quite fun (naturally I lost the PvP Arenas because of my gear :/ - Still Got Marks tho :D ) The game is more heavily populated by PSN Players now adays which is obvious because of the PSN tag they get from connecting through the PS3/PS4. I use my PS3 Controller with a small windows mod to convert it into a XBOX-style input (the mod does not directly mess with any of the game files - only my my Operating System) and it gives me no tag :/

The Downloads of the initial game are something of a chore - even with my blazing fast, rock solid internet it takes me like half an hour to download this game in full. Once it's fully downloaded though everything should be ok as long as you don't uninstall it.

The game is good, but I'm stuck at the Water boss (The one in the cage arena thing.) And leveling up takes forever. I recommend it, but I really recommend grinding for days when the water boss mission becomes available.

It's good game. Good lore, good graphics, good voice acting.

Sadly, I can't recommend it because it's a p2w game and it's VERY restricted if you don't pay. Which leaves you with doing the same unresticted missions over and over with 0 chance of progressing in the game.

I'd change my mind if there were less restrictions thou.

I’ll start by saying this seems like an enjoyable game, fun and alluring…for a few of days.
With that said ends the nice stuff.
Starts off by an excruciatingly long, and I mean long, game installation process.
After you’re done with that, you enter the most insanely money begging “free” game I’ve ever seen.
I understand the concept of “free to play” games.
Naturally the companies want to obtain profit and will implement secondary features that will tempt you into paying (character customization, cuter weapons and gear even with better stats, etc.).

This game, however, is in a whole different level.
No secondary features here, you have to pay for literally everything that is decent:
-Inventory size (something that doesn’t fill up in 1 minute of playing)
-Gear that doesn’t make you look like every other free player
-Extra character slots, beyond the whopping 2 you get free
-Access to main features, without which you’ll just be a clown flying around pointlessly
-Even loot you constantly get everywhere that only opens if you pay up
-In summary, every attractive aspect of the game, pay up or no-can-do

And you might think “I might pay up if I’m interested”.
Not when you see the price…OMG…
What in the world possesses these people to ask such amounts of money for 12 months of premium access, amounts you can easily use to buy 2 other good recent games (no I’m not joking).

If you still want to try sure, it its “free”, enjoy the 3-5 days you will be able to endure it.

But if you want to enjoy all it has to offer you will have to pay.

I dont understand why everyone says "it feels like a demo." Efven though there is 22 DLC's, (which is isane I have to say) but it still feels like a good MMO.

The devs for this game have no idea what they are doing. PvE has been boring for years with no improvement and PvP is a joke. You can only get so far without paying for content which is simply not worth it.

I don't get why this game gets so much hate. Sure, it may cost you a bit to do stuff, but for those of you who play actually free games, you'll likely enjoy this. The character customization is amazing, letting you make a hero/villian from scratch, or just base it off a previous DC character. It's so cool to see your charater fight alongside well-known DC characters and other players as you're just thinking 'I just beat Bane..." But, the game has many flaws, so I'll go over them now. First off, even with the upgraded flying and super-speed, it takes forever to get to a Police Station or a hideout. Then, there are the missions, ad boos battles, which are not that fun. The missions just require you to kill some people, then save some people. And the boss battles are even worse. The only fun part about the boss battles is that you get to fight with another DC character, one who rivals your target. So if you were fighting Circe, your teammate would be Wonder Woman. It sounds cool, but the boss fights are just use this to weaken them and then hit them over and over again. Plus, this has the MMo thing of 'I didn't make this character right, I'll have to delete him and start anew". This can make the game pretty boring after you've made a million character because there are only 6 routes to go on, and alot of times, they'll intersect, and you'll end up doing a mission for another route. But I would still recommend this game for all the wide variety and diversity. It's good for f2p's, and for those who spend tons of money on a DC MMO. Total rating: 7/10
