DB BR 442 'Talent 2' EMU out now for Train Simulator

The new generation BR 442 ‘Talent 2’ comes to Train Simulator, perfect for the Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen route.

Built by Bombardier and introduced in 2009, the successor to the ‘Talent’ was put in to service by Deutsche Bahn to replace older EMU types and loco-hauled trains on both S-Bahn and Regio services. A total of 397 units have so far been manufactured, with 325 ordered by Deutsche Bahn.

The four-car EMUs primarily operate on Germany-Austria routes, with 37 units introduced to the Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen route in August 2013. Individual cars are coupled and articulated via shared bogies and have a top speed of 160 km/h (100mph).

The BR 442 ‘Talent 2’ for Train Simulator is available in Deutsche Bahn Regio livery with grey and white accents, and features SiFa driver vigilance, AFB, PZB and LZB cab signalling, and passenger view.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the DB BR 442 ‘Talent 2’ on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

DB BR 103 TEE out now for Train Simulator

The DB Class 103 operated by DB, was considered the flagship of the DB fleet for a long period. It was up until 1987 that this locomotive monopolized high speed trains in Germany. It is one of the most powerful conventional electric locomotives ever built, with a one hour rating of 10,400KW or 13,900HP.

During the 1950s there was a desire to produce an electric locomotive that could operate at speeds up to 200km/h. These were unveiled at the International Transport Fair in Munich in June 1965 as the Class E.03 (which became Class 103.0 when the new numbering system was introduced). Exhibition runs operated the train between Munich and Augsburg, achieving 200km/h on a regular basis. The fastest speed recorded on a Class 103 was 283km/h (176mph).

Following additional developments, the Class 103 became the backbone of the German Trans Europe Express (TEE) and Intercity lines.

The long reign of the Class 103 drew to a close in 1987 with the introduction of the new InterCityExpress (ICE) trains, with the Class 103 relegated to local services with more frequent stops.

A total of 17 Class 103s have been preserved, with 5 of them still in operation, 2 of which are still part of DB's fleet and often used in test runs.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the DB Class 103 TEE on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Hamburg Hanover route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

Train Simulator 2015 still falls short behind the 2014 release, it offers no actual improvement related to gameplay and quick drive functionality then the previous generations, there is no option to manually set up a route and stops for your self in the Quick Drive screen which is a massive let down. Fog is still bland, you can't set fog distance at all neither any other options for rain or even worse conditions like icing on track or so. The developers attitude still remains the same, utterly disgraceful and they still think this is a family game, because it is not. This game have to get past the "game for kids" attitude by the developers, and they have to keep focusing on making the simulation aspect a lot better, e.g.: they could implement manual startup functions for trains, better sanding, more control functions like the ETCS, radio communication, train station announcements, and there could be a lot more that is actually not in this particual game, and certainly someone who is not a hardcore train fan will find this game extremely boring.

The game have so much potential with Quick Drive but players requests are still not being met with equal amount of support to implement better usability for that particularly interesting game mode. I have to note that the lack of custom, fictional maps, there is literally non, other then what Kuju did back in a while but that is freely available on the Steam Workshop. Ah yes, the workshop is integrated horribly badly, you won't ever find what you want to find to be honest it is just a failed method of implementation for this game.

Some DLCs for this game is amazing, but the prices do seem a bit overly extortionate especially on tracks and trains that are way out of date and are only updated so that they can roll on the track, e.g.: Metronom, Düsseldorf-Köln, Münich-Augsburg, Ruhr-Sieg line, these are really in bad condition.

But yeah, try convince the developers that they are at the wrong when when we are actually experiencing all the bad, they could easily upgrade the Ruhr-Sieg line and make it all cool and dandy like they did with the last two german maps.

I must say I'm highly dissatisfied with the company's policies, they are too intrusive, obtrusive and they will ban all their political foes whom speak out against them in what ever manner.

I can only rate this game 3 out of 10. [Only buy when 75% or more discounted!]

At first I enjoyed this game but am now getting annoyed by the serious amount of bugs that keep cropping up every time I play, eg forgetting which missions I've cleared in career mode, hindering my attempts at perfect runs by hiding upcoming speed limit changes, and not re-loading mission-critical resources when retrying scenarios are just some of the more irksome ones I've encountered so far.

Also, considering I've got a fairly decent gaming set-up, I have to turn the graphic levels way down otherwise I get very choppy framerates, and the graphics aren't exactly on the level of Crysis so this game really needs updates.

It's a shame as it does have potential. I would have expected a fair bit more for the price as well, maybe 2-3 more routes. The DLC is all horribly overpriced too, it would have to drop by at least 60-70% before I'd consider buying any of it, and that's only if they fix the bugs first!

Hi dear Trainsimmer on Steam,

As a great railroad fan, I like to spend my pasttime playing TS2015 by Dovetail Studio.
Please don't be to harsh on my review, as it is my first one ever. But this needs to be said in my opinion.

I played all versions of Railworks or as its now known Train Simulator 2015.
When Railworks started out it was a revolutionary develepment in the way we preceive and play with train games.

Graphics were out of this world good and realism was really captured well. It was all doable but extremely hard to get a perfect score on a scenario. I liked that a lot, I liked the realism in it, though be it with its own limitions, as most simulators do.

If I look back and compare over 6 years of develepment and multiple releases to our current release, I must conclude that I really regret spending 42 euros on steam to buy the Special Steam Edition of TS 2015.

I find the game to become oversimplified, too mainstream and too commercial, moreover the absolute lazyness of dovetail and friends and the shear nerve to rip us people off by reselling their existing DLC content again, without any noticable changes. To say the least, I'm really disappointed.
If you wanna make a kids game or entry-level trains game, then by all means do so, just don't call it 'SIMULATOR'.
For the record to all that don't understand the definition of simulator, (especially at dovetail and friends) here it is:

Simulate = recreate something or someone to the closest possible.
Or in plain english get as real as it gets.... not oversimplifying controls and forcing hud screens on me to use....
Bottomline.... if you do not recreate or want to be as real as it gets, then by all means, don't call your game a simulator.

There are also numerous little quircks and bugs in the game that date back from their first release of Railworks 1.
E.g. My keyboard partially fails to react or simply looses connection to the in-game controls, but at the same time I can change my cam views...very annoying when you know you have to brake for a speed reduction and you can't in time because your keys for braking are temporarily disconnected to the train controls.... whoopsie there goes your perfect score for your scenario.

Another example is clipping is still going on here and there, where you pass a tree that's kinda low-branched and close to the track, on occassion the branches will 'decapitate' you in your cabin, because they sway through your cabin as you pass the tree in question. ( ofcourse this is not really possible in-game....It just looks that way...LOL)

Also one point of critisism is "the feeling of speed" is way off. Still after all those years.
If I for example pass through a station in a ICE3 or similar HST @ over 160mph+, I still feel I pass through it at maybe half that speed. If I drive 100mph instead of 60mph, the world virtually still passes by at the same rate.... this is unacceptable in this day and age, Dovetail.

Last but not least, their constant performance-lag in-game. I didn't always owned the right PC with specs adequate enough for Railworks in the past, I must admit. But these days I own a very respectable gaming-rig with more than adequate specs and I still, after all these years, experience stuttering and lagginess while playing, no matter if it is a new map or an old one...

But aside all the little quircks and bugs and the fact that neither the tracks or the trains, or even the overall world has been majorly overhauled and updated, (it basicly all looks and feels the same since Railworks 3 aka Train Simulator 2012), the fact that really angers me the most is the nerves of steel at the Dovetail consortium. Where they now have gone completely haywire on the DLC. Basicly what they did is change some little itsybitsy code and converted some important files to a different fileformat, which basicly renders all previously purchased DLC useless in this so-called new Railworks 6 aka Train Simulator 2015. Then they have the nerve to resell their DLC untouched and unchanged back to the public in their new fileformat so it can be read by the game.

You can check this fact by checking your Routes folder of your game in the SteamLibrary/SteamApps/common/Railworks/Content/Routes folder.
If you would take a look at your folders in there it will useally look like: 00000029-0000-0000-0000-000000002014
This folderstructure goes for most of your routes in Railworks. The last four digits in this example is 2014.
This is the buildyear or release year of the original content. But this time it contains the same files with the new modifications in it. If you would compare these files with the original DLC from last year, you will find they are the same files but some now have a different fileformat at the end...

Like many other reviews I read here on Steam regarding this game, conclude in a similar manner.
Unfortunately I cannot conclude otherwise.

In my honest opinion, I feel they are proving they are not only lazy, but also very devious for trying to sell people what they already own. Therefore I must conclude this as the worst release yet of Railworks and cannot recommend this game positively to others.
I hope this was informative or helpfull in anyway to at least one person, so I can be happy with this review.

I could go on and on about a lot of things that are still not up to par yet, after all these years.
But I'm not the kind that just wants to complain about everything. I always was a big fan of this Series and curious where they would end up later.... but seeing now what they did and where they are after all this time, is for me at least very dissappointing.

Sincerely yours,

Ok, just don't buy this game. It sucks on every aspect. It's not worth your time. You'll be judged by everyone. It's horrible, I run this game at 20 fps with all graphics turned up with a dual gtx 780i... If you can see this, leave this page and never come back!
Out of the 10 hours I have played the game, I simply cannot find ANYTHING that is beneficial. Dovetail got everything wrong... here's a few I saw:
  • GRAPHICS: The graphics engine sucks, I have a high-end gaming PC, with 2 GPU's, and I can't get over 60 fps, I swear... I don't know if it's me, because I cannot find a solution on the internet. Also, I have noticed countless bugs, the background and the environment look ugly, and there is barely any effort in any of the level design, it's plain, and boring .

  • PEOPLE: The Ai for the people is worse. Way worse. People in the game FADE in an out of the trains, they don't bother to walk in and out, they go through walls, walk off platforms, and some of the models (including the driver) give me nightmares. They are creepy as f***

  • SUPPORT: The support for the game is bad enough, the facebook page is spammed with it, and according to the comments, they have had to remove and download the 6 GB of space this game takes up, and nothing works for most people. I have had countless crashes when launching, nothing worked, but 2 weeks ago it started randomly working again, and i don't think there was any kind of patch. I also had a review before this, and the delevopers replied:
"To clarify the features of TS2015:
-Amazing trains and locations to drive
    -A stunning carrer mode
    -An easy-to-use development kit"
This, I can say is bull. You have barely any trains and locations at the start, the carrer mode is boring, and I dont know how to operate the flipping DK! And I'm a 3-D modeller!!

  • THE DLC, OMG THE DLC: When you spend $40 on a game, surely you should get everything the game offers you? Nope. This game gives you 6 trains and 3 lines off the bat... WITH DLC ABOUT $20 EACH!!! Appauling. If you want everything, you'll have to spend about $20,000 for the lot... Noteven worth it if you are a quarillionaire, since none of them even work... This is the worst part about it.
    In Short...
Get off this page, don't even think about buying it... I'm saving you money... Be Grateful!!

I'm going to keep this simple up until TS2015 this has been a Train Simulator railfans would love. However I strongly recommend that you read the community posts before you decide to buy. This upgrade is causing a lot of problems across the board, including the release of a BETA patch that did more damage than it fixed. You DON'T release beta software to the public! I would hold out for now and wait to see if they manage to fix the issues.

Overpriced DLC and constant bugs. Buy Microsoft Train Simulator, Trainz or take a look at the free Open Rails program. They have lots of free third party stuff that would put the paid Railworks DLC to shame.

Also DTG is making it harder to get free third party addons to get working.

I own the Train Sumulator since it´s early version "Railworks 2010". Since then the game has really improved and I think it´s one of the best Train-Simulation-Games out there.

So why thumb down?

Because of this miserable piece of ♥♥♥♥ called 2015 Update. Lately I bought the German Collection DLC and every time i try to start one of the Scenarios (no matter if career or free game) the Game freezes and I got the Error "failed to save dump file.....". So I paid ~30 € and can´t even play!! I don´t know about the other DLC´s but the main Game seems to be running normal.

Another, maybe a minor problem is the extrem long loading time at the start of every scenario.

And last but not least: The pricing of the DLC´s is just daylight robbery, nothing else! example needed? --> The "Train Simulator 2015: Standard Edition" takes 29.99 € AS MUCH AS the German Collection DLC!!!! And this DLC contains MORE article than the TS Standard Edition.

At THE MOMENT this Game is absolute inadvisable!! If you want to buy it, just wait till they fixed the children's disease of Train Simulator 2015.

Train sim 2015. More like Train Sim 2014.5

Many bugs that were in TS14 are still in TS15! Why?! Yes, you've created a new logo and a new academy, Well done. Like I'm ever going to use the academy or notice the new logo! Such a waste of money. Ugh, Sell the game franchise already! Clearly you cannot make a game.
