About This Game

Hell is an experiment you can't survive in Outlast, a first-person survival horror game developed by veterans of some of the biggest game franchises in history. As investigative journalist Miles Upshur, explore Mount Massive Asylum and try to survive long enough to discover its terrible secret... if you dare.

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.

Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

Outlast is a true survival horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind.

  • True Survival Horror Experience: You are no fighter - if you want to survive the horrors of the asylum, your only chance is to run... or hide
  • Immersive Graphics: AAA-quality graphics give players a detailed, terrifying world to explore
  • Hide and Sneak: Stealth-based gameplay, with parkour-inspired platforming elements
  • Unpredictable Enemies: Players cannot know when - and from where - one of the asylum’s terrifying inhabitants will finally catch up to them
  • Real Horror: Outlast’s setting and characters are inspired by real asylums and cases of criminal insanity

Outlast contains intense violence, gore, graphic sexual content, and strong language. Please enjoy.

Summary/ Overview Outlast from a Christian's Perspective
Outlast is a first-person survival horror game published by Red Barrels on September 4, 2013. You play as Miles Upshur, an investigative reporter that is called in to investigate strange and unlawful practices of Murkoff Corporation. The game takes place from the 1930's to the middle through late 1940's based on a true story around operation paperclip, a true account of criminal records that were kept based on a real insane asylum, also known near this time as Madhouses. In these mental hospitals, patients would be placed in separate rooms on different floors. Some were cannibalistic, others psychotic, some with schizophrenia, others with multiple personality disorders and yet others for a lust of flesh and bone. In fact, the events that take place in this game are so accurate; I believe that the developers in one interview lied on the web that they barely know everything about the greater themes behind their first game, Outlast. I know without a doubt that they know things that they have kept secret out of the view of public eyes, behind closed doors and windows.

They force you into severe human deprivation and down a road of fear of human dilapidation in which they reveal the secrets of darkness that is found in Satanism but within the wrong light. They encourage the malpractice of darkness by using biochemical elements that are hidden in the game.

Phenomenology, Hegel and Heidegger Overview in the Horror Genre at Its Core, The Tri-Unity of Darkness
Visual Stimulation
The first main element that they use to trick the mind into confusing your immediate perception, shifts based on the background images and objects, props placed throughout the environment. They use the game's soundtrack to distill the fear and bring the action, fear, dread and a biochemical drug known as dopamine to relax your mind while your conscious and subconscious remain separate from each other. They use this tactic so then you will be unaware of the hidden themes, messages, objects and props used when you are in the first-person perspective as an insider so you won't be able to see the Satanism and corruption as you go through ' hell' fighting through the dark powers of this world. It is a madhouse full of naked men, naked twins who are deranged that try to murder you, a demonic presence known as ' the Walrider' and an arch-rival on a conquest for blood known as Chris Walker.
The soundtrack is used to drive the action to distract you away from evil presences and evil spirits in the game keeping your mind occupied on something else in which they believe you won't have time to see the other elements used in visual representations and deeper themes only found in the non-perceptible world of metaphysics. Metaphysics, the existence of being, the effect of human deprivation that affects the heart, body, mind and soul. The body being your flesh that desires sin, the mind being the rational, irrational and patterns of negative thinking that your mind reflects on and processes through the connection of the body (flesh) to the mind (theoretical thinking, third-person view as an outsider within the subconscious) and the immediate conscious being the perceptions of your senses through visual stimulation.
Outlast 2 Speculation
There are not as many props and objects in Outlast I as there are in Outlast II in which I have found.
For example, though, in Outlast II there are two rocking horses. These rocking horses represent the loss of innocence. One is placed idly while the other rocks back and forth before you get to the well in Outlast II. The rocking back and forth represents the present loss of innocence and dreams which is very noticeable because they place it horizontally, so the gamer notices right before hearing a girl stuck inside a well that transports you towards another dimension in the Pax demo.
Examples of the corruption in their new game, Outlast 2 and Links to Human Nature and Human Deprivation as They Apply to deep contextual Metaphysics and Illustrate Real-life Examples

Age/ Content Rating
I recommend personally, 21+ years of age and older for a game like this. Do not let anyone who is a minor play this game. This game is meant for adults only because of the graphic nature, cannibalism, misogynistic themes, homosexuality, castration in the Whistleblower dlc, slander, masturbation, one sexual scene with body on body contact with a dead body, corrupt ethics with the background of the morphogenic engine that is supposed to change the patients composure and mental state to be savages, strong language, nudity, murder, blasphemy and severe themes of human deprivation used to drive the game's influences, themes and Satanism found in two specific areas, the Walrider and in the downloadable content of two people talking among themselves which becomes one person with a multiple personal disorder of dissociative properties that comes after you to chase you before you face Gluskin in the Whistleblower, a deranged man that has replaced men's body parts with women's.

Biblical Scriptures that Condemn Outlast and Outlast II
Murder, Injustice, Lust, Revenge (Isa 1:21-26; Matt 5:27-30; Matt 5:33-37; Matt 5:38-42; Matt 7: 15-20 (cf. Luke 6:43-45).
Evil Spirits, Demons, Idleness (Mk 1:25-27 (cf. Luke 4:31-37); 2 Thess 2: 1-12; 2 Thess 3:11-15

Overall - 8/10 - While the game is consistent throughout and seen by others as entertainment, it is one of the goriest, darkest horror games in the market that is entertaining for the main horror audience, but morally abject towards those who are sensitive. Also, those within religion. I recommend it only because it is a game that needs to be talked about within religion, the Church of Christ and among parents, minors.

I like this game, it reminds me of Amnesia.

Both protagonists are asthmatic drama queens, locked inside of a building.

I usually don't play horror games nor watch horror movies because they make me laugh. I mean, they're not scary enough to scare me but Outlast did its job very well. It is a great game that made me almost ♥♥♥♥ my pants. You can't fight back when they attack you. All you can do is hide and run. That what makes the game scary anyway. I jumped too many times while playing, I felt really nervous while opening the doors, the atmosphere of the game is great, gives you chills and the story is brilliant. Long story short, if you want to experience some scary and disgusting hours, buy Outlast.

I have no idea why, but i just cant seem to force myself to finish this game. Its just so boring and repetitve and the AI is so predictable, all they they do is walk in the same pattern and when u visit another romm, all off sudden they are there lol. All you do is run and push and look for key and stuff. The atmosphere is pretty cool tho, especially if you are playing it by yourself in dark with headphones on . Its SPOOKY. Thats about it tho, i played the demo of Outlast 2 which is gonna be probably the same as this one. A reporter that cant hit back, but has a regen of a call of duty soldier lol.

Outlast is indeed a great horror game experience. I've seen videos and playthroughs of the game and when I had tried it for myself, it definitely lived up to its reputation! For those that are new to playing horror games, then they should start out with this first!

First time I played a true modern horror game. I have mixed feelings.

Cons: You play as a vegan tree hugging, turn the other cheek human that has to run away at every turn in the game. There are no end to the things you could use to at least give you a fighting chance but all you end up being is some pervy little ♥♥♥♥♥ that will record the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything... annnnnddd..... run away.

Pros: If you are into things to make you Jump... yuup... got it! Looking for vulgar ♥♥♥♥... CHECK... Would you like to play something that if your parents, otherhalf, or a friend walks in and catches you, would have them dailing someone to save your soul... they got you covered.

In all honestly, this game has a very good entertainment value with the graphics, story, play through. However, if you are the type of person that plays RPG all the time, this game may not be as easy for you. Checking out every single room, and section of the game to look for everything... may just get your ♥♥♥ handed to you over and over.

Run... forest.... Ruuunnnn....

That is the new motto... oh... is that a... (NOPE RUN)..... I wonder if I could... (NOPE RUN).... but what if I.... (♥♥♥♥♥ DID YOU NOT JUST HEAR ME TELL YOU TO RUN).....

For the money you pay and pleasure it will bring, it is well worth it in my opinion.

Games in the Horror genre tend to be a hit or miss...

They can be done really really well (Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil) or shockingly horrible.

This one was amazing.

unfortunately it is not more than a hide and seek game. probably you would say that it is the best horror game ever after you complate the first chapter. However, when you go deeply to the game you will see that you do the same things repeatedly and stuck with a non-detailed gameplay.

Yeah it doesn't seem to fight with the big guy but it is really nonsense that running from the guys who is arround 50 kg instead of fighting even if you can find so many weapon around you. At least the game should give a chance to try...

anyway in conclusion you can buy the game when it is on sale and play it to make yourself a bit scare.
