Análisis

“Brave New World is the rare case of a title delivering exactly what it promises.”
IGN
– 9.4/10

“In addressing some of the series' longest-standing issues, such as long periods of inactivity and less appealing pursuits of victory, Firaxis have turned Civilization V into one of the best strategy games of all time, regardless of how you want to play the game.”
Kotaku

“Firaxis could have played it safe and simply layered on more changes of clothes. Instead it took the strategy gaming bit between its teeth and launched the venerable franchise into some startlingly new territory, while keeping it fun, engaging and — remarkably — approachable.”
Polygon – 8.5/10

Civilization V is a great game by itself, but it lacks a little in end-game – making the victory road not as exciting as it could have been. Brave New World's main goal is to fix that, as well as majorly changing the game with features that fit so well that you can't believe how they weren't there all along. Overhauling two of the four victory types, completely changing how you get Gold, increasing the importance of Ideologies in the late-game and creating a whole new mechanic for the new offensive culture, Tourism, this expansion pack adds a new experience to the game. If you used to leave your saves mid-game because of "lack of fun", this is the expansion for you. If you like Civilization V a lot, this is also the expansion for you. It brings a lot of new features to play with, making the game even more enjoyable.

Author's note: Steam doesn't show gameplay time in DLC, since it launches through the main game anyway. However, would say I've spent a good 20-30 hours on Brave New World, about 4-5 games from start to finish.

Brave New World is the latest addition to Civilization V/ It adds in a plethora of features, civs, and concepts, drastically changing the way one approaches the game. It includes mechanics from Gods and Kings, so if you are choosing between either, Brave New World will have religion with it. Something to consider.

Brave New World introduces a few new mechanics, reintroduces some old ones, and reworks others. The biggest change would be the inclusion of trade routes, giving you gold, research, and religious influence between two cities. Venice is designed around setting up trade routes, while Arabia has been redesigned to take advantage of this new mechanic. It is a useful mechanic, and does aid the gradual slowed growth of small civs.

They've reworked social policies and the way cultural victory works - you now have tourism points, which needs to grow higher than opposing civ's culture in order to increase your level of influence. This changes the way one can approach a cultural victory - instead of being limited to three cities, it is now possible to have a sprawling empire while still aiming for a cultural victory. Late game policies have changed as well, with your civ taking up one of three paths, which affect your late game perks greatly, and your diplomatic relationships as well.

Spies now have an option to act as diplomats, increasing your civ's tourism output to that civ's capital, while spreading your late game ideology as well. Citys can revolt and join your empire as in the older games, but its been reworked to do so only if your influence with your ideology is high enough.

Overall, Brave New World's new and reworked concepts make the game much more enjoyable, and adds much needed depth to the game. Grab it as soon as you can.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World is the second expansion pack to Civilization V that actually improves gameplay dynamics and enhances the true experience of what Civilization should have been. Brave New World radically change the cultural system, adding Great Arts and Great Works to promote tourism to the establishment of the World Congress for advanced diplomacy. Civilization V with the first expansion pack, Gods & Kings, was already considered as the "cocaine" of video games, but with Brave New World, this makes a lethal addiction to the level of meth (just an inside joke among Civilization players since the series is highly addicting). Additional buildings and units are added to truly connect to each eras from Medieval to Atomic Era to experience what it's like. I cannot express how grateful this expansion pack brought Civilization V as the highest standpoint in any video game. I strongly recommend to current Civilization V players to get this expansion at ANY price (ranging from the steep discount to the default price of $30). Firaxis Games has once again truly represent their community with great positivity and I will support this company to the last day and one more.

Awesome! Brave New World makes a great game even better!

Brave New World puts new life into the back half of the game, as well as significantly increasing choices in the early game, making you rethink old strategies. Large variety of new leaders to choose from though their bonuses are hit and miss, making some choices clearly better than others.

I like the ideology system. The selections within each ideology are varied. Some will work with an individual's play style, while others won't be very useful. I'd say the ideologies are balanced for a number of play styles and strategies, however.

I really like the new World Congress feature. This is the highlight of the new expansion for me. You gain delegates for various reasons (number of cities, number of allied city-states, construction of specific wonders). The World Host decides a policy they want to enact and then everyone votes on it. The outcomes can have a significant impact on the game. It also increases the value of alliances with city-states, as they join your delegate pool. The major downside to this feature is that I find it far too easy to win a diplomatic victory by controlling the Congress. Several times I've tried to drag the game out to win a science victory, but win the diplomatic victory before I can finish my rocket (or even start it).

I also enjoy the new cultural aspects of the game. Great Writers, Artists, and Musicians add nice boosts to the game. I turn all my great writers in for tremendous culture boosts (especially early in the game). It's a significant boost that helps establish social policies earlier. Great Artists continue to extend Golden Ages.

Caravans are an excellent way to increase cash flow. Before BNW, I sometimes struggled with cash flow especially if I had a large army. Caravans make it easier to maintain a healthier cash flow.

Tourism doesn't really interest me. It feels a little pointless, though it does completely alter the way you earn cultural victories. I use to win many of my games by cultural victory and probably still would, but cultural victories take more work and time to achieve now. I don't consider this a negative feature.

New Wonders are always nice. A few have nice features. I also like that they tied certain Wonders exclusively to specific ideologies.

There are plenty of new Steam achievements for the hardcore gamers out there.

It took a couple expansions but Civ 5 has developed into a really solid game. I highly recommend Brave New World as it adds and improves on a lot of features. The cultural and diplomatic victory conditions are vastly improved upon.
