About This Game

Thousands of giant insects and aliens once again ravage the earth, and only the Earth Defense Force can stop them. Defend the city of New Detroit against an infestation bigger and meaner than ever before. Destroy these monsters at all costs, even if it means turning entire city blocks into rubble!
Enjoy raw arcade shooter satisfaction on a gigantic modern scale. Collect over 300 weapons: assault rifles, rocket launchers, energy weapons, sniper rifles, grenade launchers and more! Play with 4 upgradeable armor types: Jetpack, Battle, Tactical, and Trooper. Experience Massive replayability through arcade style scoring, tons of weapons to collect, and multiple difficulty levels in every game mode!
In addition, the game also features a six player Survival mode that pits a human squad against a nonstop onslaught of the largest enemies the aliens have to offer. New Detroit’s giant bug problem is unavoidable, and mankind’s last hope lies with the Earth Defense Force. Defend the world from the insect invasion, even if it means blowing up the entire city as part of the extermination process.
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon and the soldiers are equipped better than ever in the latest cult classic iteration that follows in the footsteps of Earth Defense Force 2017 (Japanese Title “Earth Defense Force 3” developed by Sandlot), and Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon continues the rich history and hardcore fun of the series.

This game is so awesome! Shooting giant things with enormous explosions and destructible environments. Just mindless shooting fun. The graphics aren't that great but that keeps the frame rate soled because there's a lot of ♥♥♥♥ going on the screen. I hope EDF 2025 comes to the pc because a lot of people say it's even better! EDF! EDF! EDF! EDF!

To be honest, I have a mixed feelings about this game. It's even hard to convey it in my native language, let alone in English.

On one hand, Insect Armageddon feels like it wanted to give us something huge. Not just huge insect and robots and insect-robots, but also in terms of contents. Huge maps, destroyable building, neat variety of weapons, limited range of classes that compliments each other. But everything fell short. Not to mention you REALLY need to grind to unlock all the weapons, buy them, and fully upgrade the clasess. Everything just end up repetitive as hell. The "story mode" is pretty damn short too. Although that's not really a problem for this type of game since the main point is replayability. But the drive to replaying quickly died down when I'm slogging through same looking maps and same variety of enemies, hunting down mystery weapon boxes hoping 10-20 minutes you're spending would be worthwhile. Even though you could make a meal, go to ATM to pay some bills, clean your laptop or keyboard, write a blog post, shave, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ somewhere, stalk your crush, or simply masturbating to your lovely waifu in those time.

In the end of the day I still enjoyed it, but (while having no expectations in the first place) it's still kinda disappointing. Still, there's not much mindless murder simulator on PC aside from Insect Armageddon and Samurai/Dynasty Warrior. And having alien bugs as enemies does feels pretty refreshing, the only thing that could make this better if there's also bug-space-dinosaur enemies thrown into the mix. Not worth $10 though, but I doubt Bandai Namco would give a f-- I mean, give a price drop for this game. Or for their other "Westernized" game from their franchise on Steam.
I just bought it full price hoping for another PC/Steam release for their games. Preferably the "too-Japanese" one. I mean, Japanese devs with or without the help from small US publishers are starting to flock into this damn DRM platform, right? And they did put a translated rhythm game and one single album to US/International iTunes, right? There is always hope, right? RIGHT?
