D13.3 Live Patch Hotfix

  • Added in System Messages for Micro Warp Drive if it is attempted to be used before it has finished re-charging. Also added in one for attempting to launch drones with out a launch platform. *More will be added later on and the icon will be changed over as well.

  • Adjusted Laser aiming more to attempt to smooth it out a bit more.
  • Changed tooltips for Drones. Now you can see what weapon they are using, and how much Drone Hangar space they require.

  • Fixed an issue with firing of lasers in manual mode.
  • Fixed an bug with loading hangers with Drones, they would not allow you to fully load your hangar bay acting as it was already full.
  • Fixed a bug that would allow you to launch drones with out a Launch Platform. Now an system message will appear if that hangar does not have a platform.

About Kinetic Void

Kinetic Void is a 3D space adventure with a focus on customization and enjoyable space simulation. Our in game ship builder allows players to construct their ship piece by piece. Ships can be as simplistic as a cockpit, a single hull, a single engine and a single gun, or as complex as a player wants. Each module has available subsystems which can be applied to strengthen specific attributes of the ship, and when damaged, those subsystems may be destroyed. While in space flight, interactions between objects are governed by the physics engine. Running into an asteroid at high speed will damage your ship, potentially with catastrophic effects. If your ship is large enough however, it may be the asteroid that is decimated. Using the Kinetic Field Generator (KFG) in game will allow your ship to create an artificial gravity around the ship, both protecting the ship as well as allowing your ship to fly freely through space. This field will also enable the Micro Warp Drive, catapulting your ship far into space in a matter of seconds.

A New Galaxy Every Time.

Procedural galaxy creation allows as many new experiences as you'd like. When a new game is started, the galaxy map, contents of each sector, and the factions involved will be generated from scratch. You may continue to play this galaxy, or if you'd like to try something different, create a brand new galaxy. Don't worry, your old galaxy will be saved in its current state if you ever wish to return. Choose how many sectors you'd like in your galaxy, as well as how many factions (NPCs) and whether your ships will be Creative (unlimited components) or Career (much more challenging with limited components).

Know Your Neighbors.

In Kinetic Void the galaxy is a living, breathing thing. Not all factions get along, not all of them hate each other. As factions interact, agreements and treaties will be made and broken. Trade, combat and piracy will affect how the factions see each other based on their own internal standings.

Fully Detailed and customizable Space Ships.

Tailor your ship for any role. Make a sleek fighter, a bulky freighter, or a mighty carrier. Your ship’s capabilities and appearance are completely up to you. Using Kinetic Void’s ship builder you can make exactly the ship you want. Customize every part of your ship from cockpits, hulls, engines, weapons, and aesthetic modules. Each module has its own statistics that affect the total performance of your ship. Every module can be further customized by adding subsystems (right click on a module to add subsystems). You can even color your ship exactly how you want. Each module has seven color fields allowing you to make amazing ships quickly, and easily. Once your ship is created, save it to your computer, or share it to the Steam Workshop for the world to see. Subscribed ships from the workshop have a random chance of making it into any new galaxy as a faction vessel.

Freedom to Choose Your Fate.

Be the scourge of the galaxy, or its savior. A life of combat and struggle not your thing? Become an intergalactic trader and influence the galaxy one deal at a time. Not interested in being a ‘good guy’? Take on a life of piracy and plunder your way through sectors, creating havoc wherever you go, then docking at pirate stations for supplies and crew as needed. Intense Active Combat.

Target enemy ships and maneuver in real time to align devastating broad-sides or crippling strafing runs. Deploy drones to do your dirty work or simply confuse the enemy into targeting them instead of you while you deal devastating blows to the enemy vessel. In Kinetic Void, your skills as a pilot are just as important as the components that make up your ship.

Take Direct Control Of Your Ship.

Kinetic Void offers three control modes. In cursor-mode, the player can control the ship through keyboard commands, and pan the camera with the mouse in any direction for quick tactical overview; or Mouse Flight-mode, allowing direct control of the ship through mouse movements. Control your battleship’s turrets from a sweeping orbital camera or slip between asteroids in a dogfight while piloting your heavy-fighter using mouse flight mode. Switch between modes at any time to best suit the situation. The Mouse Flight-mode will also be controllable with joysticks making the flight jockeys out there feel right at home in the stars (Joystick support in development).

Такая себе помесь Eve online + серия X3. По альфе трудно судить однозначано, но потенциал есть.

Великолепная байма. Просто слов нет, насколько она эпична... будет.

На данный момент в наличии есть только годный конструктор кораблей (Если вы могли проводить часы в редакторе кораблей из "galactic civilizations 2" и хоть чуть-чуть знакомы с 3D Studio Max или другими редакторами 3D моделей, то вам точно понравится) и бескрайний, молчаливый космос.

Я наткнулся в обсуждениях на тему от такого же нуба, как я сам, который просил рассказать - что же в этой игре вообще можно делать. И там был довольно ёмкий ответ от самого разработчика.

Я попробую сейчас кратенько пересказать его слова в формате FAQ:

Q: Какая разница между режимами игры "Creative" и "Career"?
A: Creative (творчество) - это режим, в котором у вас есть всё, что-бы сразу начать конструировать свой Дредноут Тёмного Властелина - при старте игры у вас уже имеется по 999 ВСЕХ частей корабля, оружия и подсистем. Более того - при каждой стыковке к любой станции, в вашем хранилище на ней будет так же по 999 всех запчастей. Твори - не хочу.
"Career" (карьера) в свою очередь представляет собой симулятор выживания в безмолвном и холодном космосе. У вас есть стартовый корабль, 10000 кредитов, от 10 до 50 звёздных систем для исследования и от 2 до 12 фракций (пока они лишь воюют друг с другом).

Q: Как тут зарабатывают деньги?
A: На данный момент есть только один способ - добыча полезных ископаемых из астероидов. Для этого надо поставить на турель добывающий лазер (mining laser), а затем "атаковать" им астеройд (не забудьте впихнуть в ваш корабль побольше "cargo" подсистем - будет куда сложить породу!). Есть также более сложный способ - заниматься добычей с помощью специальных дронов - mining drones. Но для этого понадобится ангар, несколько подсистем, катапульта для дронов и (внезапно!) дрон-добытчик(и). В карьере это будет стоить определённых денег. Правда в стартовом корабле "Oberon freighter" уже есть дрон и всё необходимое для его использования. Но выбор компонентов не слишком оптимизирован, так что вам будет что улучишить.
Ну и продаётся всё,естественно на космических станциях. Сначала нужно выгрузить породу из корабля на склад, а зетем продавать в местном магазине.
\от себя\ - когда количество руды стало стабильно переваливать за сотню, пришлось юзать автокликер, так как разрабы не запилили кнопки "продать всё из этой вкладки" х)

Над миссиями сейчас упорно трудятся и обещают выпустить их в ближайшем будущем.

\от себя\ - Миссии таки есть. Целых две. Одну нам рандомно выдают по рации, когда мы висим в космосе и просят полететь в указаную точку и разведать. На месте нас встречают 3 истребителя и лаконично попривествовав фразой "Prepare to die" бросаются в атаку. За их истребление на счёт автоматически зачисляется ~8000 кредитов.

Вторая миссия тоже рандомная - на кого-то нападают враги и надо помочь бедолаге отбиться. Я не уверен, но если просившего помощь собьют, то наши отношения с фракцией неудачника испортятся.

Q: Как путешествовать между Звёздными системами?
A: Есть два способа. Первый - Звёздные врата. На карте галактики они отмечены белыми линиями. Вам нужно прилететь в ту точку, в которой эта линия начинается\заканчивается в вашей системе (как правило это станция) и отправиться на другой конец врат - на другую станцию, в другой системе.
Второй способ, как обычно, более нетривиален - понадобится подсистема "Jump Drive".

От себя хочу добавить, что на моей памяти это первая игра, где космос ТАКОЙ пустой и ТАКОЙ тихий. Если у вас есть папочка с любимыми треками на космическую тематику - советую достать её поближе. Игре очень не хватает самобытного саундтрека.
UP Оказалось, что музыка и некоторые звуки просто исчезают в определённый момент. Вот и тихо. А так саунд хороший. Но всё равно пришлось вырубить музыку совсем и фоном поставить амбиенты из "Звёздных волков" х)

Но в целом потенциал у этой баймы очень высокий. Разрабы обещают запилить кооп, обучение и прочие ништяки.

Выглядит очень убого, создание кораблей не интуитивно, космос пустоват, да и в целом это сейчас просто песочница, Space Ingineers куда лучше, выглядит и симпатичней, и корабли лучше, в общем игра дурацкая, купил думал будет инетресно, ха, думать надо было прежде, чем брать

Since a number of people were asking me to re-review the game in its current state, I finally relented and decided to try the game again. These are my thoughts.

I find that many improvements have indeed been made. This is to be expected, and very much welcomed. I find that many of the features such as the shipyard and flight models have been improved with more easy-to-use controls and additional features. A quick rundown of some of the key features and improvements I noticed:
* Better inter/intra-system navigation and map
* Slightly improved combat gameplay
* Improved flight model and warp systems
* Missions, Cargo, and semi-functional stores
* Semi-functional "career" mode. More on this below.

Some things that are still issues:
* Not developer's fault, but many workshop ships no longer function out-of-the-box due to creators failing to update them for new patches.
* Overall, game still feels quite clunky and difficult to use. Somewhat high learning curve unless you're wiling to read a lot.

* Crash to desktop is common. Crashes more as your ship's # of modules increase
>> Relatively decent auto-save means you won't loose too much progress.

Overall, the game has improved. Though I can't say that this is something to get especially excited about. "Why are you being such a debbie downer" you ask? Well, it's an alpha. It is SUPPOSED to improve. If it didn't, it's not worthy of even being sold.

I still do not recommend this game. There is a "But" however... Here are my thoughts

Many critical features have been added and improved to a more usable state. The warp mechanism has been tremendously improved. The shipyard build system also deserves a mention as a vast improvement. More customizability and more controls to fine tune your construction. Though this can make things a bit more confusing to the new person or returning player, as with some of the other expanded features. This is made up for with the improved documentation. But beware, decent amounts of reading is required. There are also some tweaks and improvements to the combat system. It makes more sense but can still be awkward. The galaxy map has also gotten a big makeover and is MUCH easier to understand.

There are many things that still are confusing and unfinished in this game. The "career" mode is clearly unfinished and requires more attention. From what I can tell, it's a misleadingly named "survival" mode at the moment. However, it fails at that as well. You have credits and the idea is to earn more through cargo or more "illigitimate" means. Basically, you start out by picking ANY ship from the workshop or stock selections. No cost. If you run out of money buying cargo to load into your mega-freighter you downloaded and didn't have to pay for, then just select any of the ship-part categories and sell any number of the "999" parts you somehow own from the start. Just sell a couple Tier 5 weapons or ship bridges and you immediately have so much cash that the display has to use exponential notation (e.g. 1,000,000^E10).

Verdict: Not recommended. The game is still definitely unfinished. There is not much polish. While there are a number of great improvements, I still cannot justify this game as a purchase. It's confusing for new/returning players unless you're a quick learner or wanna read all the documentation. Without developer input, I estimate this game is less than 50% done; though considerably more than the 6% quoted by the dev around the time of my original review 7 months ago.

My point still stands. Do not buy the game unless you want to support the developer or really like the idea this game stands for. It is playable now, so if you just really wanna get into space and do things, then go for it. I recommend waiting until a sale, however. It is not worth $19.99 to me. If it had a price-tag of about $10, it may be a good price if you're willing to put up with the downsides of a relatively mid-level-alpha.

I don't recommend this game. Yet. If the features they have planned for this game come to pass, then this game will definitely be worth its price. For now, I'd only recommend getting this on a Steam sale. This is a VERY early access with only a few of the main features added. The building and customization functionality does have a lot going for it and has a lot of potential. The rest of the game is still somewhat confusing, clunky, and still very clearly unfinished.

My advice? Wait a while. Or buy this game simply to support development of the game. Buying it to play it may end you up with some serious disappointment. Don't get me wrong though, as I said, this game has potential. As the developer stated in another negative review, this game is only approximately 6% finished. Do not expect much from it.
