"A beautiful masterpiece that everyone should try ... it might be the most compelling and beautiful indie game I’ve played all year."

- Alex Faciane, Gamezone
"The creepy atmosphere, the single-minded focus on extremely minimal actions, and the mocking self-awareness all contribute to a deft statement on games and how we play them."

- Garrett Martin, Joystiq
"Should you play this game? YES. [...] The confused people wonder if Little Inferno is even a game. The impressed people write about how, as they finished the game, they got choked up."

- Stephen Totilo, Kotaku

This game is just great! Simple gameplay, but with an interesting story and concept. Plus I found some of the combos quite challenging to figure out. The only thing that would make this game better would be achievements.

Pros
+ Good production values. All the objects look neat.
+ Fun for a bit

Cons
- Drags on too long.
- Story and ending unsatisfactory. I thought they would do more with the different characters. I thought the ending would have a bigger twist or make a bigger point.
- No way to change display settings. I had to find a text file to switch to windowed mode.

Overall
I have to put thumbs down. There are better ways to spend your time.

This is a game pyros will love. You just sit down in front of a nice snuggly fireplace. And set things on fire to keep yourself nice and cozy warm. Buuuut if you can manage to get through all the catalogs, then ending of this game is just crazy amazing. It will blow your mind.

It was pretty boring, and feels like it wants to waste your time. After solving 10-15 combos, it becomes very tiresome - meaning the entire game is a chore. Fun enough to complete with a walkthrough, but man is this overrated!

im incredibly happy with this game!!! from the creative combos, the interesting and quirky story line, and the insightful ending, i was down all the way. i spent most of the game searching for combos (which were just the right amount of difficult) and pining over my next door neighbor. i love the interesting ways that things burn and how nothing is quite as you would expect. although i at first found the art style unsettling, it soon grew on me and i found it adorable. the only con was the repetetivness, but it was a pleasure to play all the way.

tl:dr 10/10 would burn down my house for my ghost girlfriend again

This is a very peaceful and relaxing game.
It has a special humor, and you can just relax and watch some beautiful things caught on fire.
The more you burn, the more you have more money to buy and burn more things, it's great!

It was an amazing and really zen experience for me to play this. This game have a special place in my heart.

Wow. Just wow.

I originally picked this game up at the recommendation of my mum. She told me to try it because I could burn ♥♥♥♥. And sure enough, there is a lot of burning.

In fact, that’s pretty much all you do. You burn things to earn coins, with which you buy more things to burn to earn more coins. All of which is done in this cute little fireplace you own. Which is apparently marketed toward children. That explains the stunning lack of adult reasoning. Nope. No reasoning here. We burnt it along with everything else.

Of course, there is a little more to it than that. You have to wait for the things you buy to deliver, or use stamps to make them deliver immediately. You earn stamps randomly, or by burning the right things together. And if you royally ♥♥♥♥ it all up, and you find yourself with no coins and no things to burn, then hang out for a bit. Some bugs will make your fireplace their home, and you can burn them too! And guess what? You get more coins!

At some point you make friends with the person living on the other side of your fireplace. They've got a fireplace too. And they ask you to send them stuff to burn. Because why burn it yourself when you have someone else to do it for you?

There is a rather cute ending to the game. Which oddly enough, did not involve burning stuff. At some point you actually DO stop burning stuff. But I won’t tell you when. In fact, I can’t. I burnt the spoiler. Whoops!

In all honesty, this game feels like it was originally developed for mobile devices and ported to the PC later. There are no keyboard controls. Click and drag with the mouse.

The graphics aren’t bad. The game does lag when you blow things up enough, but I believe that was actually intentional. Add more drama to the explosion, or something like that.

Anyway, I do recommend this game. Even at the $9.99 price tag. It did provide me with a few hours of good entertainment. Most of which were spent waiting for more things to burn, rather than actually burning things.

I will leave you with some sound advice. You get a ticket for a free hug at some point. BURN IT. I wish I did...

Little Inferno is a toybox game. There aren't any set objectives, there aren't any rules, just pick up your toys, throw them into the fire, and burn them. Ultimately that is the premise to the entire game however there is more to it than that.

You begin with a small number of toys available to order from a catalog, and you can unlock more toys in that catalog by earning money, and you earn money by burning toys. The more toys you burn, the more you can buy, and so on and so forth. You can only 'hold' so many toys in your inventory at one time, however you can increase the size of your inventory by spending some of your money which makes the game a little easier as you progress.

There are numerous other toy catalogs that you can unlock playing the game, but to do so you also have to work out combinations of toys to burn together from combo names which are given to you. Making combinations of burning toys will not only unlock catalogs it will also give you stamps, and these stamps can be used to reduce the time it takes for your toys to arrive once you have ordered them from the catalog - these stamps are invaluable when you get to ordering toys from the very last unlockable catalog as some of the delivery times are around 4 minutes, and this does start to feel like a long time to wait particularly when your toy goes up in a smoke in a number of seconds.

There is a story throughout the game which isn't particularly obvious until right at the very end, and I won't include any spoilers here as I think it needs to be played to be experienced. I found it quite moving, and the whole experience very enjoyable.

This game is fairly short - I managed to complete it in 3 1/2 hours, but I hadn't worked out all of the stamp combos, and I'm actually already keen to go and play it again so I can work the remaining ones out as some combo names are quite cryptic (whereas some are blatantly obvious).

This game is £6.99 on Steam and this is a lot of money for a short game, however I do think if you connect with the gameplay and the story there is scope for replay-ability, and certainly once you've unlocked everything you can just leave it as a 'toy' in itself to pick up and play whenever you fancy burning something on-screen.

Little Inferno is simplistic, it looks great, it's fun, it's challenging, it's polished, it's thought-provoking. I really didn't expect it to be as good as it was. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, and would definitely recommend giving it a try. It's something that can be played in one sitting, or something you can come back to, either way it's definitely something that should be experienced.

This is truly unique and amazing game. I would like to write something more, but I feel like with each word of description I would take away surprise and fun factor that this game has. So I will say just this much: this is an interesting experience and a game that stays in your memory long after you finish it. Try it.

A very simple but decent game, very simplistic in nature yet there are challenges to be had. I let my kids play this in August 2015 and haven't slept since. I have to keep an eye on my kids as my daughter is in her teenage years, so is at the age of "Sod it, let's try this thing I saw on TV/Internet/Game and see what happens" and my 7 year old son just shuffles around the house muttering "The voices in the flame are telling me to do things" and "Fire is the cleanser" under his breath. I'd be a very scared individual if I didn't have central heating

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire, we don't need no water let the mamma jamma burn, burn mamma jamma burn/10

If you love candles, if you love to watch things burn, if you like fun Tim Burton-esque art, if you enjoy enchanting music and chaotic destruction and colorful explosions THIS IS YOUR GAME.

Cute story. Replayable. Stress Relieving.
SOOTHE YOUR INNER PYROMANIAC.
I can not express enough how beautiful, charming and fun this game continues to be! I let my friends and their younger siblings or their kids play this game. They love it too and beg to get to play it again and again.

If you are looking for some fun that includes your pyromanic tendencies . This is a game for you :3. What it has in story with a letter after letter although a little stale . The combos you can make are just amazing. Pixelated , colour changing fire? Well good job , you get some tokens that speed the game up for that. This game makes me come back at times to just have a fun and chill time and I really recommend it. 9/10

A fun game that requires attention to detail in order to puzzle out all the combos. The basic premise is simple and burning each of the items is entertaining on its own but the combo hunt and progression made it interesting enough to keep me playing. The production is very clean with good art and okay music. My one gripe is the lack of settings option within the game to adjust the volume but there is a settings.txt which lets you change the volume easily enough.
Besides all this though, there is a definite undertone of social commentary and advice which puts It into the bucket of philosophical game stories along with Braid.
