About This Game

Shy schoolgirl Lilli is having a tough time at the convent. Only her imagination helps her to escape from the strict rule of Mother Superior. But when her best friend Edna disappears under mysterious circumstances, Lilli has to rise above her own and face a tough journey to not only get her friend back but also confront her subconscious fears.

Lilli, a young girl at a convent school, is the main character of Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes. Apparently the best-behaved little girl in the world, she executes all her tasks diligently, no matter how unfair they may be. Her innocent, imperturbable way of carrying out the orders of others has something both tragic and eerie about it. Any resentment, any childlike disobedience is buried deep beneath a seemingly impenetrable shell of sweetness. But how long until this shell will fissure?

And where do the friendly little Censor-Gnomes come from that paint over anything upsetting in Lilli’s vicinity with a pleasant pink color? Are those potato-shaped fellows real or just a product of her subconscious?

All things considered, it seems merely a matter of time until Lilli is going to crack up.

+ harmonious comic style
+ full hd
- weak effects

+ good black humor
+ lovely and interesting heroine
+ very strong narrator

+ catchy melodies

+ short tutorial
+ partly tricky, but never illogical
+ difficult puzzles can be skipped
- at times too easy in the second act

+ brilliantly written
+ "silent" heroine perfectly implemented

Game Size:
+ around 10 hours playtime
+ 3 endings
+ many bizarre figures
- middle part is too short and simple

Harvey's New Eyes is the story of Lilli: "the bravest girl in the world". At least that describes the narrator, a disembodied voice from the off, which would actually much rather tell of the "human eye-eating robot possum," but this must not, because too many children sit in front of the screen.
Edna and Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes is a solid, well-built adventure, but don't be fooled by the cartoon-like visuals: It's a dark trip to a very strange place where happy endings are in short supply.

Harvey's New Eyes actually follows the adventures of Lilli, a small, blonde near-mute girl living in a convent school. Lilli is the most virtuous child in the whole world, and yet their lives in the monastery is not easy. Your relationship with most of the other students is strained at best.
and it is often the aim of the Mother Superior is fast, irrational anger. Your only true friend is the older and much more talkative Edna, but when Edna hiding to escape the clutches of a mad child psychologist, life is complicated.
Lilli must first help from the monastery and then follow down to the hidden secrets they discover, and maybe learn a thing or two about themselves in the process escape her friend.

Most puzzles are inventory based, some with complex combinations, and often drawing from the game’s wacky humor (the solutions aren’t always terribly realistic). The game also features a handful of standalone mini-games -- logic puzzles presented in a close-up screen and requiring both text and image pattern analysis. Unless you’re blessed with a fabulous memory, a couple of these will require taking notes.
(Some of the mini-games can be skipped.) After Harvey’s appearance, the challenges involve problem solving in dreamlike landscapes to change or access something encountered in the workaday world.

Knowing the story and the characters of The Breakout adds to your experience in Harvey's New Eyes. But in some ways (easier interface, no frustrating invisible trigger, a compelling story).
Harvey's New Eyes is a better introduction to the saga. A quirky approach - start with Harvey's New Eyes to the end of chapter two, then play the breakout as long flashback sequence, and return later to finish the last chapter of Harvey's New Eyes.

Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes gives gamers an adult experience while providing the necessary cover for a teen rating. Recommended for old school gamers looking for a reminder of the past, or those who enjoy quirky plots.
It is aimed at adventure gamers who enjoy tongue-in-cheek humor and absurdist scenarios with dollops of darkness.

Score: 70 / 100

Lilli, the girl who hardly rabbits at all.

The Good:
* Charmingly minimalistic characters and backdrops
* Psychotically twisted, mute, protagonist is amusingly succinct
* Narration is occasionally effective and supplies the odd good joke
* Cleverly sidesteps gory visuals with fantastic delusions
* Right click skips the long speeches
* Space reveals click points
* Above average voice work works well.
* Despite the dark humour doesn't devolve into swearwords or crudity
* Easily 8 hours of fun

The Bad:
* Often overly wordy, has you skipping the text with right clicks
* Some quests are simple, others obtuse and some seriously hard
* Most locations you can only click on useful objects limiting choices
* Sound/music is nothing special
* Third Act feels rather messy and is the weakest
* A very so-so ending
* Not much replay value, hardly unexpected

Background: played several game by this company and wanted to give this one a try

Impressions: While the visuals sometimes feel cheap and flash like the game shines in it's humour and range of jokes it attempts in the dialogue, mostly delivered by the dryly spoken narrator. The quests are typical of the genre apart from one of final ones that's interesting but under explained. The best part is when edna is on screen and when the narrator gets to put his twist on describing the scenes in funny and obtuse ways.

Recommended for: Mature point and click fans who like rye twisted humour that hints at the dark in a chripily cheerful voice.

Conclusion: 6/10. Not for kids but those who like some black comedy and silliness.

I haven't played the first Edna and Harvey game so was somewhat skeptical of picking this up as other Deadilic titles while excellent storywise really put me off with the voice acting, however I'm really pleased I grabbed this in a sale as it's one of the best point and clicks I've played in a long time. While not overly hard, it's enough to make you think on how to proceed without ever having to refer to a walkthrough, and the story is pretty damn good, although I was a little disappointed at the ending which seemed rather abrupt. You could probably complete this in a single sitting if you wanted however expect to spend a good couple of hours straight at it. I completed it over a weekend just playing a couple of hours at a time each day.

There were a couple of bugs that kept popping up now and again, mainly with the interface, but nothing that crashed the game or stopped you proceeding.

There is an intelligent story here hidden behind the cute fluffyness, I urge you to give this a go if you like a good story and a good point and click adventure game... They are so rare nowadays!

Very good adventure for the old school adventurers.

It's enough hard BUT NOT hardcore. It has some good riddles instead.

The graphics are good , comics. But modern.

The game has plenty of Black Humour, from the very first time. I wouldn't propose that for children, but you shouldn't wait to see something BAD. Everything that you see is covered with humour. But the messages it passes for a kid are a bit hot.

I would say in comparison with the fisrt Harvey: The Breakout that this one is a real masterpiece from Daedalic. The first one... let's NOT talk about it!

I'm starting to like these Daedelic folks. While I wouldn't put this game on the same level as the Deponia it was still an excellent adventure, highlighted by the mishaps of Lilli.

+ Love the art style.
+ Lilli's a great, silent protagonist.
+ Woggy.

- Achievements are broken.

I'm not fan of point & click, but this game got me for real. Voice acting and hand-drawn graphics are top quality. Missions (chapters) are enjoyable and very long. You would be surprised what it takes to feed the cat in this game. And it's just an ordinary cat. Another thing that got me on the first is soundtrack. That opening song is amazing and in-game background music is enjoyable too. I won this game on a giveaway and I probably would never buy it (before). But now, I can say it's worth the money because it's so much fun. Definitely recommend.

Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes is a mildly dark and twisted point & click adventure that feels a lot like Sam & Max style adventure games. Interestingly enough, you don't play as either Edna or Harvey, instead playing the role of the young innocent schoolgirl, Lilli. But Lilli doesn't speak too much, and most of her dialog is filled by a narrator that loves to hear himself talk. Even though his voice acting is good, he all too often comes off as being melodramatic when it usually isn't necessary. The result is a game that tries to be funny all of the time, but only succeeds some of the time. The narrator makes every effort to lighten the mood, but his delivery is often dry and humorless and the intended humor often can't compete with the game's dark themes.

The puzzles were pretty straightforward. There were only a handful of places where it wasn't obvious what the next move was. Graphical drawings are nicely done and the story is well written.

Steam achievements are broken. I finished the entire game without a single achievement unlocking.

Overall, Harvey's New Eyes is a reasonably well done point & click adventure that doesn't leave any lasting impressions.

The first thing that I liked about this game was the particular extremely dark humor, since the opening speech, where a narrator welcomes you and invites you to take the tutorial. At least in German, it’s absolutely delicious. It made me think of giving a ghastly report on a horrific accident with the voice a dad would read a bedtime story to his 4 year-old little girl.

The beginning was like any other point-and-click game. I was this sweet shy little girl in a convent-school, doing this and that and the other… and suddenly I was staring at my screen with eyes opened like two fried eggs, jaw dropped, my mind blown, exclaiming “WTF! Did that just actually happen? WTF!” (My partner, who had been watching me play, laughed his a** off exclaiming “holy ♥♥♥♥!”). That sent me to one of the most surreal, fantastic, incredible adventure games that I’ve played. I’m glad it was a rainy Sunday, because I just couldn’t stop playing until it was over. I loved every minute of it.

Most “puzzles” are actually “collect stuff, combine/use”, but it has a couple of pretty cool mini-games. I strongly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys adventure or point-and-click games, but most of all, to anyone who’d like something out of the ordinary.

One more great adventure by Daedalic. As Deponia, good story, good characters, impresive voicing acts, fun, humor and absurd situations and puzzles.
Puzzles are so weird that you will probably need a walktrhough around.

An enjoyable sequel to the first. It's nice to see a game where they've kept in mind all the problems of the first and made honest attempts to fix those failings and make a better game. I think they have. You should still play the first game before this one though. It's also important to have a few save files just incase there is a problem.
I'm not to fussed on the fact that I've been unable to unlock any of the achievements in the time I've invested but that's just a bug, not the fault of the game, Other than that I think it's an enjoyable game that builds off the first.

This is all story and the options are a little clunky, but I love the twisted and silly ambiance of this game. IT could *ALMOST* be a kids game, if it weren't for the wanton death by truly vile and horrible means. Big thumbs up!

My daughter and I had a ton of fun playing this, I highly recommend it, although I think certain parts are not suitable for young children, but it is not an "adult" game.
The graphics are simple yet smoothly put together, and really draw you in at times.
The story line is very involving, and often takes a turn you didn't see coming.
A very well designed game overall, would gladly play through it again.

Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes is an interesting game with a few endemic flaws.

Pros: Story, Graphics, Sound, Controls
Cons: Performance, Value

Harvey's New Eyes follows the adventures of Lilli who must try and stop the evil Dr. Marcel's plans. Despite Lilli's squeaks and the cutesy graphics, the game is not for children. Controls are fairly crisp, but they should be for a point-and-click game. Sometimes the cursor detection seems off, this may be related to the issues below.

Performance is awful. Downloading the demo is highly recommended to see whether your computer will run into the frequent freezes and slow load times. A 2D point-and-click game is one step away from being a visual novel, so there are NO excuses. Achievements took over a year to be patched and they still may or may not work for you.

Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes has all the endemic qualities of a Daedalic game, whether or not that is good is up to you.

Harvey's New Eyes was a really great game.
Altough it took me very long to get started with the game, because I´m not really into point´n´click adventures, but this game surprised me a lot.

The way the story is told and how Lilly, the main character, fits in it is just amazing.
Very great humor and a lot of moments which made me smile.

Don´t be tricked by the childish look of the game! It is quite simple, even though some of the puzzles are a bit challenging but you always get the option to skip it. But in my opinion the story is quite interesting and kept me playing so i finished this game in less sessions.

gameplay 9/10 - since sometimes it wasn´t really obvious for me what I had to do next

music 10/10 - I really enjoyed the music in the game. Its fits very well and felt athmosperic!

atmosphere 10/10 - the voices of the character and the different art styles and personalities totally got me! This was one of the main point for me why I enjoyed this game so much

price 5/10 - I got lucky that I got this game in a bundle, otherwise I wouln´t have played it at all since 20€ are way to expensive in my opinion
