"I’m rather enamoured by the unique flavour of online combat presented by Chivalry. It’s fresh and fun, and like the very best games is easy to get into yet incredibly hard to master."

About This Game

Besiege castles and raid villages in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a first-person slasher with a focus on multi-player. Featuring competitive online combat that seeks to capture the experience of truly being on a medieval battlefield. Inspired from the intensity and epicness of swordfighting movies such as 300, Gladiator and Braveheart, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare aims to bring that experience to the hands of a gamer.

The game is skill-based and controls like an FPS, but instead of guns and grenades, players are given swords, shields, maces, battleaxes and longbows. Set in a fictional, yet gritty and realistic world, players will fight in fast paced online battles besieging castles, raiding medieval villages and fighting for glory in the arena with up to 32 players.

Key Features:

  • Deep melee combat system provides players with a huge range of responsive combat options
  • Adjust your attacks and blocks in real time with the mouse for precise and full control of the action
  • Wield an arsenal of up to 60 brutal weapons ranging from broad swords and battle axes to longbows and javelins
  • Dynamic objective system brings team tactics and strategy to the forefront as players batter down gates, raid villages and assassinate enemy royalty to achieve victory.
  • Use a variety of siege weapons ranging from catapults, boiling oil, ballista, battering rams and more
  • Vast, lush environments that transport the player to a gritty and immersive medieval world.
  • Offline play options that allow players to gain familiarity with the controls and gameplay before being thrust into the action.

Skill gaps have made this game utterly unplayable past level 15 for anyone who hasn't poured hours into figuring out how it works. Don't bother picking it up if you expect to play after you leave the low-skill tiers.

got this in a humble bundle awhile ago, really glad i did not pay more than a dollar for it. The premise itself is a good one however there where several issues with it for me.

-customization sounds like a good idea until you see it implimented. When everyone changes their clothing color it is extremely hard to tell who is an enemy and who is on your team. This is especially an issue for people who have issues with certian colors. There is no real way to see who your teammates are until you either stare at them (and often dont move), or kill them.

-Then you get vote kicked. it also does not matter if you have a decent/good score, youll still get kicked. Vote kicking is frequent in this game (like i see a vote kick on someone every minute or two) and it can be very hard for a new player to even finish a match because you are kicked out constantly.

-controls are not that great as well. half of the time i do the combo moves but they do not register.

-hitboxes are an issue. I have ran my sword through people without them taking any damage at all.

normally i would try the game more before making a review but i have no desire to. I know that other people like it but it's just not for me.

Do you like being "killed by teammates" over and over again?
Do you like going on 1v1 and getting "backstabed" in the back by someone?
Do you believe that you could counter 2 handed sword with "butter knife"?

If Answer Yes To All Questions Then This Game Is For You!

This game is awesome everything about is great except for one thing. The community. I just bought this game today and got kicked 3 times today. First was accidently killing a teammate, I did say I was sorry but I still got kicked, the third was because this guy couldnt kill me so he gave up and vote kicked me. If I do something that no one likes, they will vote kick you and you will probably get kicked. I could be in a game and randomly kick someone they would probably be kicked.

combat is soooooooo slow, glitchy, full of team killers, and completely random. The community is filled with elitist pieces of trash who most likely spend their weekends playing this or LARPing

this is an awesome game, with great graphics, cool battle moves, many classes, and with lots of fun in the multiplayer arena... im a bad player in this game, but its very enjoyable.

if you cant hit people with your sword, use your shortsword (or thowing daggers).
otherwise, try to master the art of the longbow...

good game!

In my opinion a great game after you pass level 15 it starts getting hard though because there is very skilled people who are level 30, level 25, etc. Who will be doing 360 overheads, etc. I adapted to that and also learned how to do tricky 360 over heads and block very well I recommend to anyone but after you pass level 15 you gotta pratice a lot or you will just get a new ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

People need to understand that the skillgap in this game is absolutely unforgiving. You won't experience true flow in the gameplay until after about rank 40 (~300h into the game) and once there, you will still get ♥♥♥♥ on by higher ranks to the point of crying. After finishing the 10 min tutorial (which 90% of the bad review players completely missed) you will have 2 options; Play on the noob-friendly rank 0-15 servers that will breed you some hours into what seems to be the virtual version of kiddie football, that will paint you a false picture of how you think the game is. Or join a normal server. It will be hard and you will most likely spend more time waiting to respawn than playing. But you WILL eventually learn from every mistake, every death, every "omfg exploit spinning hacker" etc and you'll become experienced to the point where you realize how much of a mechanically advanced masterpiece this game is. It will completely nullify combat like babby Skyrim, Mount & blade, Soulsborne and more.

-If you're a "casual" that can't be arsed using a brain this game is not for you.
-If you can't handle stressful situations that requires milliseconds to none decisionmaking, then this game is not for you.

+But if you're an extremely competitive individual that wants to experience pure rewarding skill without ♥♥♥♥♥♥ RNG factors then there won't be a better melee game for you.

Bought it when it was on sale and it will forever be the best 6£ I've ever spent. So please ignore these plebs that thinks being bad=game is bad.

Very fun sword-combat and ranged weapons aren't too imbalanced either.
Best on the market at this point imo.
