30-06-2016 Raceroom has been updated

- Added garage phase to Multiplayer. This is a 60 second phase before race to allow players to change their car setup and fuel.

- Changed login flow and integrated with Steam Web API. New players will no longer have to register an account with e-mail. The game will create accounts with the Steam ID and existing users will automatically authenticate with Steam details.

- Added support for Fanatec pedal vibration. Players who have a Fanatec pedalset with vibration can tweak these via the controller file.
FFB pedal throttle vibe zero magnitude = 0.01 // Throttle pedal vibration at 0rpm (reference point) can be set between 0 and 1.0
FFB pedal throttle vibe slope = 0.15 // can be set between -99999999.0, 99999999.0
FFB pedal throttle slip vibe= 1.0 // Throttle pedal vibration on tire slip. can be set between 0 and 1.0
FFB pedal brake slip vibe= 1.0 //Brake pedal vibration on front tire slip. can be set between 0 and 1.0
FFB pedal brake vibe slope= 5.0 // Slope for brake pedal vibration based on speed and braking %. can be set between -99999999.0, 99999999.0
- Fixed an issue where the game could crash while loading a replay.
- Fixed an issue where game was adding fuel in liters instead gallons while refueling during pitstop.
- Increased controller axis movement threshold used when detecting input (so that the player has to press the axis 90% down before it gets bound in options).
- Removed the now obsolete manual login screen, modified error screen and added retry button so the player can retry login instead of having to exit the game completely to retry.
- Added potential fixes for freezes that were occurring when game was trying to save replays.
- Removed fuel multipliers from DTM 2015 as they were causing issues in Championship.
- Fixed an issue where cars started without brakes if player skips the first race session in a 2 race format race.
- Fixed speed of background music changing after watching a replay.

- Added garage phase to Multiplayer. This is a 60 second phase before race to allow players to change their car setup and fuel. The garage phase ends either at 60 seconds or when all players have readied up by pressing Race.
- Added a new setting to dedicated server called “Non Ready Pitlane Start Delay”. If set to 0, players that failed to press race before garage phase ends, gets put on the grid as normal. If set to any other value, the player starts from the pits as penalty and cannot drive until that value in seconds has passed.
- Fixed an issue related to slow responses from/to servers that fixes cars continually remaining at ping 0.
Added potential fixes for connection issues that were causing some players to get disconnected.
- Fixed issue with session timer being off by 10-16 seconds sometimes, and not counting laps done within that time.

“There's the accessibility, and the way it's just as satisfying to play on a cheap pad as it is on an expensive wheel set-up; how the handling is translated sublimely through both. And what handling it is, spread out across a delicious range of thoroughbred racing cars: there are the DTM cars, with their downforce and low-slung lines, that only seem one step removed from the hi-tech of F1, or their WTCC cousins that bounce over kerbs with the kiddish enthusiasm of a go-kart.”

“The sounds, the looks, the feel, it all comes together to form something that is simply a high quality product. Whether you play only the free content, or you buy it all, there is no question that this sim is worth the download.”

Enjoyed what i played BUT!

It says free to play but its more like a demo
You get a few cars and only 2 tracks (like WTF you have to buy tracks)
All the DLC = 118 pounds
You can get 3 Triple A Titles for this price

I Thought World of Tanks was Brutal on the premium but this is pure Bill Gates ♥♥♥♥ right here

My #2 next to Project Cars. I simply wish there was a safety car, weather and time progression and dynamic road surface (rubbering etc.). There is just something about night racing. Granted the casual player would not even bother with these features, this is for the more dedicated hard core player. Seems when it comes to racing games there is a trade off that needs to be made between fun and seriousness, in my opinion this is a pure racing simulator and it doesn't try to be anything else. All cars are race spec, there are no road cars, no parts to buy for the car, no livery editor, etc. You get real life counter parts from real series mimicked ala iRacing.

The sound is fantastic, the feel of the cars is much improved over the early beta days, the visiual presentation is fantastic albeit a bit dated (DirectX 9). Overall it gives a fantastic race experience that with hopeful VR support be extremely immersive. The studio has a lot of talent and great foundation to make a next generation simulator in the future. Hopefully they realize their vision in the next iteration, I can only hope that the backend gets replaced while the game stays the same title, no need for a RRRE2, just keep it RRRE and keep improving what is already there.

I highly recommend it, if you do try this out, hop in the sillhoutte series cars at the raceroom raceway track (both awesome car and track!) and be sure to use a while, you loose a lot of immersion and feel of the game using a game pad or keyboard, its not gonna give you a poor experience. A G25 works perfect here.

I have bought nearly all the content for the game and I am not even upset, you can get vRP from the raceroom store, which is cheaper than buying the cars and tracks within the game, first get the vRP reedem it in the game then buy the packs it will save you a lot of money. I recommend buying the packs that have cars and tracks in them, then the track packs then car packs as you wish. It will maximize the content and getting the 10K vRP for 60$ yields you nearly 90% of the content. This is not different than buying any modern game now, just wish they made it simpler than this.

Gameplay is awsome. Sounds are awsome. I dont recommend you play this with a keyboard tho. You can join competisions and championships online that update all the time. They have a replay system built in thats super easy to use and actually works really well. The game is free but only comes with 3 race tracks and a couple of cars, but buying other cars and race tracks are cheap and isnt really the issue with this game like everyone says it is. To be honest there are no issues with this game so if you feel like geting into sim racing but dont feel like buying assetto corsa or anyother game, then I strongly recommend downloading this, and also, Ignore the hate. All hate for this game is because people are to cheap to spend a couple of bucks for other tracks and cars.

Works really well on triple monitor setup at 10K. The telemetry to Accurforce and SimXperience motion rig is really good. This is a top notch simulator. Peope who complain about driving witha keyboard, this game is not for you. The sounds are simply amazing.

I had no idea what Sector3 was, and given the mixed reviews I was a bit recultant...but once I got in the game I was like "Wow, the sounds! The sheer sense of speed! This feels like GTR!", then Googled the company and realize - it's Simbin!

The physics and force feedback is way better than Assetto Corsa, my previous favorite sim racer. And like I mentioned, the sound and sense of speed, is insanely good. Also this has more and better tracks. AC has modding, but I want good and solid original content, which Raceroom really has.

The pricing model is indeed stupid. Though apparently they have massive sales over the year, I heard you got the entire game for like $50 last Black Friday.

best racingsim ive tryed this game have old solid roots (gtr / race 07) simbin series though you need a controller
and you should aim for a quality wheel but an xbox one controller will do just fine to start with

though you will always (when you get a new wheel or controller) need to to spend some time fidling with sentivity etc

there is some post here and there about how to config the controller and dont expect the controller fidling like a Playstation game where you just plug and play (it took me some hours to find the right setup for me controller )

pretty good graphics though some say it aint that good but hey either they play on a potato or demanding triple A 2016 graphics of a 3-4 year old game oreven older

lots of cool cars some is free most of them cost money though but i find the carpacks worth it im guessing its how you look at it

lots of cool real life tracks

championship races where you can win ingame money to purchase cars and tracks and ofcause

play against other racers either by time trial (ingame money prizes) or in a race with 24+ people on the actual track

quite a few dlc's but again which game nowadays dont got dlc's

and if you want extra content in form of dlc's THEN DONT BUY THEM THROUGH STEAM they cost like 3-4 times more the the ingame store i purchased dtm 2015 through the ingame store to less then 10 euro compared to steam price tag at 25 euro

TL;DR It's not very free to play, it's free to try one or two cars and tracks so you can buy DLC. Track and car selection is strange overall and feels limited. It's like iRacing.com but you don't need to pay a monthly subscription, so that's kinda nice. Cars and tracks will be expensive though.

Do I recommend this game? Sort of, but not really. It's free, so you have little to lose to try it, but I don't like the freemium DLC model, it is lacking many tracks I would like and for some reason, though there seem to be many car choices, the car selection still feels limited in a certain strange way that is difficult for me to describe - I think anyone who tries the game will know what I mean.

The actual handling, however, is in fact quite fun, so I can recommend it on the grounds that it appears to be a decent simulator.

I am happier with my paid racing titles like GRID 2, Forza, Gran Turismo, DiRT, etc.

* Seems realistic in terms of simulation handling
* I think the realistic difficulty setting is quite fun
* Decent graphics
* Generally challenging and rewarding
* Seems to keep up with DTM and WTCC seasons if you're in to that
* Advanced suspension tuning is an option e.g. toe, camber etc
* Lots of race realism options, like practice and qualifying laps, tire wear, fuel usage, damage, etc
* It is, in fact, free to try, so there's not much to lose to just try it

The lack of free content makes this not much of a game unless you're willing to buy some DLC. There is a lot of DLC, but buying it all would be very expensive.

The car selection feels somewhat meaningless. There are classes of cars and they seem to handle differently, but it feels like you don't get much control over the cars you use. There's no listing for horsepower or torque or weight etc, no descriptions of what the classes mean or of the cars in general - just names of cars and some categories that seem tied to specific events and years. Kinda strange and difficult to decipher.

There is an illusion of depth of choice by allowing you to choose the livery and car # of real world drivers and there are dozens of liveries, but overall free car and track selection remains limited.

I enjoyed the couple hours I put in practicing and learning the handling, but I probably won't be playing this game very much.

I don't personally find a compelling reason I would want to buy DLC for this game when I already have plenty of other racing titles.

If you are looking for something free or cheap and you haven't bought other AAA titles yet, I think this game is worth a try, but overall I feel there are other better titles available, and considering you'll probably end up spending money on this one if you like it, I would probably try other games before you decide to spend your money.

This game tries hard to be a quality racing game, but it falls short. It's like that special needs kid in the back of the class room surrounded by so many extremely gifted students. This game tries extremely hard, but it falls flat on its face.

Let's first look at how it looks. It honestly doesn't look bad as no-name racing games tend to go, but it's certainly not winning any awards in the graphics department.

The controls are terrible. Extremely unintuitive and not fun. Plus, on my gamepad, there's no degree to the movement. You either crank the steering wheel all the way or not at all.

The music is okay, I guess.

The sound could be far better and far crisper.

If you want to play a good racing game, take a look at Asphalt 8: Airborne. That sucker is a masterpiece on all platforms.
