"Still one of the best platformers on PC, Rayman should need very little introduction. Colourful, creative and always brings a smile."

O tej grze

Michel Ancel, celebrated creator of Rayman®, Beyond Good & Evil®, and the Raving Rabbids®, returns to his roots to bring us Rayman® Origins: a high-definition, 2D side-scrolling, platforming adventure with full four-player co-op!

Play Rayman Origins and discover or rediscover the magical universe and legendary 2D gameplay that captured the hearts of millions of fans...

When the Glade of Dreams is overrun by “nefurrious” Darktoons, the Fairy Council hastily invokes Rayman to save the day; but the hero of light isn’t quite all there…To help him, Rayman teams up with his best friend, Globox, and two crafty wizards, the Teensies. Together, the world’s most hilarious team of heroes will need to restore peace to the Glade, or watch as their beloved home vanishes like a bad dream...

Key Features

  • Rebirth of a Platforming Legend: It’s been 15 years since the initial launch of Rayman. Rayman Origins brings back many of the classic characters, revived in their original 2D form, as well as a whole new world of characters and environments.
  • Four-Player, Jump-In/Jump-Out, Co-op Gameplay: Play as Rayman in the solo campaign, or have up to three friends jump in at any time to play as Globox or as one of the two Teensies. Players can leave at any time without affecting the others’ progression.
  • Unique Approach to 2D Art: A rich world with over 100 characters and 12 unique environments created by some of the video gaming’s most reputed artists and animators. This creative approach to 2D design will recapture the hearts of platformer fans and introduce a new generation to one of the industry’s best-loved characters in his original 2D form.
  • A Vast Playground: Rayman Origins includes over 60 levels of 2D platforming gameplay designed for all ages and playing styles. Unlock new abilities progressively and return to previous levels to discover new paths and secrets.
  • Variety of Gameplay: Rayman Origins is a platformer at its core, but it has elements of many game genres. Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies gain unique abilities as they progress through the adventure, including swimming, diving and the sensational “HairlyCopter.” The game also features many elements of action, adventure, and beat-’em-up gameplay.
  • Epic Boss Fights: A giant pink monster with hundreds of eyes... A possessed, mountainous golem... An evil daisy-cum-carnivorous plant...Rayman Origins will put players to the test with these and many more challenging boss battles!
  • A Handful of Highly Talented Artists and Engineers: Rayman Origins was developed by the UBIart team in Montpellier and is built on an open-source game engine - the UBIart Framework - designed by Michel Ancel to allow much smaller teams of artists and developers to produce incredibly high-quality graphics and gameplay quickly and efficiently. This garage-game approach has led to great strides in creativity and innovation.

The graphics are great & gameplay spot on foe a 2D platformer.

It's paticularly good for families as there are no limits on lives, so younger kids can tag along for the whole level (even if they're dying a whole lot.

The levels in which you chase a treasure chest until the end and the Land of The Livid Dead are super fun. Challenging, but never frustrating. I felt comfortable with the jumping physics and never once did I blame the game for messing up a jump. Definitely more enjoyable and better platforming than any 3DS platformer I've played. It's shameful that Nintendo has been getting outclassed by Rayman, and it's shameful that it took me so long to realize it. Ubisoft hasn't made one-tenth as many platformers that Nintendo has and they're already showing them how it's done.

Only problem is that the Ubisoft credits are wayyy too long. I sat through Duke Nukem Forever and Skullgirls backer credits and neither of them have ♥♥♥♥ on Ubisoft when it comes to wasting my time.

One of the best 2D platformers in quite a long time!
Legends is still a bit better thatn this, with more variation and better music.
Still, Origins doesn't use UPlay, whiel Legends does.

I would give this game 6/10

Bright, colourful and so happy, happy, joy, joy it's impossible not to like.
Precise controls, beautiful graphics and great music too.
The perfect cure for a Dark Souls 2 hangover.
8/10.

Rayman's return to 2D action could not be more beautiful! Best one in the whole franchise (Including its sequel. yes), worlds full of pure art are coming along with stunning soundtrack and real funny gameplay. Needless to say that UbiArt knows how to create 2D indeed.

I recomment this game to others, for me it was very enjoyable and addicting. I liked the fact that it was difficult enough to keep my interest yet not so difficult that i quite out of frustration. I liked the art, the colors, and the controls. Truthfully i cant really think of something that i disliked about the game

Such a fun game! Absolute beautiful art design that really captures the spirit of play in a "dream world". Never played any of the older Rayman games, so this isn't a nostaglia based review, it's just the best damn platformer I've played in years, and probably the best on PC!

Great adventure game so far. Not too easy, not too difficult and has a good amount of variety about it. Would definitely recommend to side-scrolling adventure fans.

Given that i'm usually the idiot that writes the reviews with 10,000 ratings with something dumb and nonsensical, I figured i would actualy write a constructive review for once for a game that I actually like.

Rayman: Origins is an interesting game in that it is a platformer with a non human protagonist not made by Nintendo in an era where the modus operandi is generally stamping out 3rd person shooters with crewcut white boy protagonists with perplexingly green 5 o' clock shadows. The asthetic of the game is striking to say the least and it is impossible to mistake for another game. Brown and grey are simply not colors that exist in this worlds pallet and it makes everything feel bright and alive. For the proper enjoyment I would abandon the "gotta go fast" mentality that plagues many fans of the genre, and take a slightly slower pace to enjoy the lovely atmosphere and music. Also avoid the power ups that double your electoon count unless you really like listening to the same 12 note song every 20 seconds of game play.

To put it simply: It is a nice game with a nice pace that doesn't outstay its welcome with an undersated soundtrack and visual design.

I only sort of recommend this game... The graphics, music and level designs range from good to amazing, that alone makes it well worth playing, but... (There's always a but.) The controls and boss designs leave much to be desired. Bosses move in completely fixed patterns that are pretty unforgiving and extremely boring once you know the patterns. In other words, bosses are trial and error until you've learned the patterns. That gets tedious real fast --- especially so on the final boss, where the bad controls and poor boss design clash in such a way that it's actually possible to go too fast and die because of that, which seems counter-intuitive when you're chasing the bad guy. The same thing goes for a few other levels, where you can build up enough momentum that the game can't keep up, which is extremely sad to have happen in a platformer. And then there are the controls that don't really feel tight enough for many situations that you are put in. Constantly I caught myself thinking "this wouldn't be a problem if it was Super Meat Boy or Mega Man". It's not that the controls are downright bad, they're just not good enough.

If you can overlook the flaws, it's a very good and extremely entertaining game.

This game has an excellent aesthetic; background, animations, and sound all come together fantastically.

But coming to this game from a platformer like Super Meat Boy - with its incredibly tight, tuned controls - Rayman doesn't feel fun to play. Everything is too soft and sluggish. Attacks often interrupt flow rather than contribute and I frequently felt like I didn't have enough control of the character.

The difficulty also seems slightly mistuned. I think I'm pretty good at platformers (I have 100% in Super Meat Boy) and I found myself consistently missing the par for each course by only a few points. This makes replaying levels a tense affair as missing a single Lum can fill you with dread that its just cost you level's medal and you have to start the whole dreadful business over again.

I got excited in my playthrough as I finished the final island - hoping that the game was nearing its end - when it was revealed that I then had to revist every location again to beat the game. As if this didn't crush my sprits enough, my hard drive crashed and I lost my save. I no longer have any desire to play - let alone beat - this game.
