About This Game

Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts have peculiar jobs: They give people another chance to live, all the way from the very beginning... but only in their patients' heads.

Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing the patients remember before drawing their last breath. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives, but didn’t.

This particular story follows their attempt to fulfill the dream of an elderly man, Johnny. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is.

And Johnny's last wish is, of course... to go to the moon.

There's a perfect word to describe this game: Masterpiece.
To the Moon is one of the best story-telling games I've ever played.

You can feel the touch of life and death on it. The convincing love story that isn't cliche, the details of a romantic life, well... the true love.
If you love reading books, this is your kind of game. It will make you laugh, cry, be surprised, be shocked, everything..!

Besides a overpass gameplay, it will touch your soul.
I have no more words to say about "To the Moon", let it speaks for itself.

I usually bought this game because it only had one achivement. I didn't really pay attention in the begginning of the game but as I progressed through the game, it hit me. This is an amazing game with a wonderful story/gameplay. It is very smooth and fun (and sad T_T) 10/10

Honestly, the story to this game is too great. If you have some spare money and some spare time i highly recommend you get this. It's not too long of a game so even if you dont have much time to play you can enjoy the awesome story little bits at a time and still finish it within decent time. If you're looking for something with a great story, go for it!

I've read reviews, I knew it was going to be good. But boy, I never expected it to be this good! Best 'small' game I've played since Valiant Hearts.
You don't really need to know anything more obout this game that it is a wonderfully written journey though a man's lfe and memories, which touches upon the topics of life, death, friendship, loss, unconditional love and dreams. But if you really need more and you like bullet points, I've broken down the game into categories:
  • Storyline - fantastic: moving, heart-warming and with some nice plot twists, the story built its pace throughout the game very nicely.
  • Music - excellent music, nicely fitting given moments. Not much to say about it but it was near perfect (for this game, of course).
  • Sound effects - gameboy level of sophistication but decent.
  • Gameplay - nothing special - clicking through dialogues, clicking objects, some kindergarten-level puzzles and two 'arcade' moments. Truth be told, it's a good thing it wasn't more engaging - this way the player can focus full attention on the story. The game mechanics are just there to justfy it bein a 'game', rather than an animation.
  • Graphics - very simple, yet aesthetic (unless you were expecting AAA level of photorealistic graphics, in which case the graphics in this game is terrible)
  • Game time - To the Moon is very short, realisticly speaking, you need about 4 - 4,5 hours to finish it. And there is very little value in terms of replayability. However, the length seemed adequate, at no point did I have the feeling that it was dragged-out.
  • Offensiveness - Only offensive to platypus lovers and Dragon Ball fans (well, sort of...)

10/10 - Would cry again

Man, all I read was how good this game was and to not read a lot to not ruin the story. Well I beat the game a few minutes ago and damn who cut the onions!? This game is absolutely fantastic and a perfect example of how video games can emotionally move us, just like a movie.

If you want a game that will remind you of how amazing games can be, that graphics aren't everything and want a story that has substance and thought, get this game!

Now if you'll excuse me I have to see who keeps cutting onions.

Tried this game due to the overwhelmingly positive rating, but it's definitly not for everyone. The art style is a big turn off for me, there's no gameplay and the story-telling is largely done through text. If you don't know if the game is for you, then it probably isn't.

This game is so good that I ended up refunding my payment to Winrar just to buy this. This game makes you feel as though if you are not mentally stable and prepared, you will fall into an eternal coma once finishing this game.
-------SPOILER ALERT-------
The mans dream is to go to the moon, the game was really fun especially the part where you get to ride your own horse. But this game slowly turns demented as you unravel the story.
About 80% through this game you find out that Johnny's mother accidently kills Johnny's twin brother while reversing her car through the driveway. This made Johnny emotionally unstable and it is why you cannot go into his childhood while travelling through his memories. The Easter egg to this is that in one of Johnny's memories his mother calls him Joey, this happens in Johnny's teen years. Joey was the name of Johnny's twin brother who died. But his mother lies and tells her son that it was the name of his grandpa.
------SPOILER CEASED------
Overall this game was EXTREMELY deep, and it took me about 6.7 hours to complete the game including the DLC's. This game can make you cry if you are not prepared because you will infact see pixelated death in front of your eyes, zombie scientists, and last but not least a mini game on finding clues inside a small game where you need to avoid pixelated zombies. Overall this game was really fun and it is an excellent choice for anyone that is interested in great storylines for RPG games.

*Non Spoiler Review*

Even though at the very beginning I was put off by the old styled, low-resolution graphics and without any previous knowledge about this game, it very quickly grew on me soon after I started it.

The dialogues, sadly all just in written form, are both funny and extremely touching.

And... I... have... never... before... cried... this... much... in my life, because of a video game!!!

Seriously, how can such a "simple" point & click puzzle adventure move me to tears?
Answer: The story! The characters!
Even though they're just plain pixels, you feel a deep connection to these characters, from the two buddy scientists to the tragic couple with a very complex backstory which unfolds chapter after chapter, memory after memory.

Gameplaywise you won't be overwhelmed, though sometimes still a bit challenged, especially when you can't find all the necessary clues at first or have to figure out the minigames.
But with some time you'll get the groove of it.
Also there's always some good humour interjected into the experience.

Nevertheless, when you finally have reached the ending, and you've both laughed and used enough tissues to wipe away your tears (stop being so dirty minded, people!), there's just one thing to say: WOW!

A big bravo to the people who wrote this story and developed the characters.
This would actually make an excellent mini series (for a feature film it might be a bit too long)!

Well this game has been rattling around my library for quite some time now, I finally clicked "play". Then I didn't get out of my chair for the next 3 hours.

To the Moon is a great story, the whole game plays out like a nice movie. A few 4th wall breaking references here or there, some comic relief, and of course TONS of sappiness. I really wasn't sure what to expect going into this, but with so many positive reviews and such a neat pricetag I remained fairly optimistic, and honestly any expectations I might've had were blown out of the water by what this game really delivered. I didn't think such a story could be told in this format, I didn't know that so few pixels could make me experience so many feels..

I can't make a pros/cons list for this game really. It wouldn't really make sense. If you want to sit back and casually navigate your way through a captivating story then this game might be for you! If you're looking for a more interactive experience - or maybe want to blow some ♥♥♥♥ up - I wouldn't recommend this for you.

Honestly even if this isn't the type of game you think you'd enjoy I would still recommend waiting for a sale and giving it a shot, I spent 2$ and then one day I was in the mood for something different, and now here I am adding another thumbs up to the mountain of positive reviews this game has :)

A heartbreaking and beautiful story, and an absolute must play in my mind. This should be made into an film...

As for the gameplay itself... The controls aren't the best ( it is worth noting that it's clearly made for mouse play, so don't fret it when your gamepad doesn't work ) and at the start the gameplay isn't fully clear with the links and mementos (which again.. it becomes pretty intuitive), but none of this should stop you from playing this game. It is absolutely worth playing despite any minor flaws.

As a side note.. there is only one achievement, and it is granted simply for completing the game. This is actually quite perfect, because the only thing that is important about this game IS the story. Enjoy it. Don't expect a lot of gaming as this is just the chosen vehicle for the narrative. Don't stress about missing anything.. you won't. Just enjoy the story.

Also.. the music is great.
Bonus points for all the nerdy pop-culture references.

See you on the moon.

I thought I would enjoy this game beause it's received such positive reviews. It tries to keep you interested by evoking emotion throughout the storyline, but ends up laying it on VERY thick during the attempt. The writing isn't very good either. I felt like I was watching soap opera without the love triangle. As far as gameplay is concerned, it's nonexistant. There's an attempt but the difficulty is at about a third grade level. So give it a pass if you're looking for a challenging game or if you don't like soaps.

Did I cry a lot? Yes.
Did my feels metaphorically get kicked in the balls repeatedly? Yes.
Was there plot twists? Yes.
Would i sugest it? Yes.

This game hurts your emotions so bad... but its such a riveting story and i couldn't walk away from it. (So i literally just spent 5 hours playing this game. Trying my hardest not to cry)

10/10 do buy this game

Where do I begin.

I can't begin to express what I'm feeling right now, and I would never want too. I'd want you to experience yourself. I used to scroll past this game every time I ever looked through the recommended listings in the Steam Store as I deemed it as something I wouldn't like.

I was dead wrong.

Without ruining anything about the game, if you love RPG games, not nessecarily horror games, but any RPG games, I would highly recommend this one. Play with an open mind, and an open heart. "To the Moon" will rock your world.

A simple and fun point-and-click RPG with a unique and compelling story. Don't expect much combat and action, but the game has plenty of witty and funny dialog and a suspenseful story to keep you engaged. The minisodes were short 20-minute games that added depth to the scientists and their co-workers while continuing the story after the original game.

Game was nice and creative. The story is well only thing this game actually has. there is little to know of any gameplay to it. there are just teeny tiny little puzzle parts in the game and those are super easy to do. There is some thinking if you want to do like the thing tells you to do like Do able with 6 or so turns. but there is no achievement to it so there is no reason doing that. one thing that I super dislike about this game is the lack of interaction. Think about games like mad father you can interact with most of the stuffyou see. now with this you can only interract with stuff you have to interract with. My highlight for this game is the music. all and all.... its an nice experience.
