Once again the future of mankind is faced with bleak propositions when rival factions emerge from the devastation of a Third Great War. With a new and oppressive government forming from the ashes of past - gamers will get to create characters from different factions all fighting for power in this new political landscape. Sound exciting? Yes in theory and and on paper I am sure it sounded all rather brilliant but not so much when it comes to the actual games execution.

With its dystopian setting I was looking for some fast-paced frantic action to keep me glued to my monitor but the best adjectives I can use to describe Global Agenda is mediocre and boring. Global Agenda has some good ideas stuck amongst the more turgid ones - the ones every single MMO suffers with regardless of how they doll it up - the "fetch 15 of these and the kill me 5 of those" types of quests. In my earlier MMO days I was happily and stupidly comfortable to sit through crap like that but not anymore. It's an utter killjoy for me now.

Dispersed amongst the typical MMO tropes are some genuinely good ideas - such as the co-op and faction pairing quests that actually see you fight other players. After having committed roughly 8hrs to the game I just didn't see the point of continuing forward. Don't get me wrong its a very competently made game and I am sure it has its many fans out there but I am afraid I am just not one of them.

I really am not that crazy on free-to-play games at all and being constantly bombarded by the in-game shop recommending that you purchase this and upgrade that. No thank you! I would rather happily pay a small monthly fee and receive equal quality across the board for all players. The game will require a lot grinding away to get anywhere and quite frankly that is not my idea of fun at all if you decide not to go the purchase item route.

By all means give it a go - its just not something I see anyone sticking with for long periods of time unless they are a) Broke as a poor church mouse or b) Really dedicated or C) Have enough money than God and can afford to waste it on in-game stat booster and whatnot.

***I have given it the thumbs up, since its not something I wish to discourage players not to try out by giving it a thumbs down. I really wish Steam would give us an orange side-ways thumb for something that is average***

After years of playing this, I still feel this game deserves some recognition. Even if the developers abadoned this game for 1-2 others, they left gold behind.

Met the Devs at a Convention and got into the beta. Played it after launch and it was AMAZING when it first started out, bought the game before it went free to play. After all the the time spending getting every class to level 50 and getting awesome gear and toping leaderboards and what not there was also AvA (Agency Vs. Agency) which put you and your comrads against the other agencies out there.

Went great for about a year and then soured once every aspect of of pvp and ava became monopolized by a collection of like minded individuals who clung to exploits like the fist of an angry god. That mixed with GM's and Devs who did little to nothing to fix or crack down on this (They were too busy at the time beating off on Tribes Ascend and runing that too).

Might be a little too passionate there but thats not where it stops oh no... once it went free to play I checked it again they brought in microtrasactions to ruin the game even more and all they managed to do for adding diversity was add a new raid mode and open world area. Even checked on AvA (All new names I had no idea who the hell they were) and it was still the same thing "oh we will let these guys win this time and then the next then its our turn" was the new norm though. Mainly monopolized, and I never managed to even look at the PvP because the damned game was so underpopulated it was impossible to even get a game even started.

TL;DR: Game was good when it first started out and then it began a gradual downward spiral when the devs developed ADD and couldn't focus their small company on a single game but decided to spread themselves thin and ruin two titles and try to elbow their way into the MOBA realm with Smite.

Also they are apparently making a reboot of this game? I have no idea but its probably going to be the same old thing as above probably, I hope not though I hope they remake it and it goes great.

I loved this way back at launch, here now I was happy to jump right back in! When I got there the game still was all the fun it had been for me way back when and this is the only example I can think of for a successful shooter mmo hybrid (not counting planetside series). The game is action and fast paced like a shooter but detailed and open like an mmo! The "con" I have noticed after returning is it was like almost a ghost town I only crossed paths with 10-15 people when I logged on recently, and for an mmo that is crazy small, but if you want to give it a try its still worth it even today!
