Storm King's Thunder Coming August 16

We’re proud to announce Neverwinter: Storm King’s Thunder is coming to PC on August 16! In just under one month, adventurers will be able to investigate the sudden return of giants to the Sword Coast in our tenth expansion, which coincides with Wizards of the Coast’s new adventure.

In order to fight off these colossal invaders, adventurers must return to Icewind Dale and team up with characters from Dungeons & Dragons lore, including Catti-brie and Wulfgar, characters created by acclaimed author, R.A. Salvatore.

Storm King’s Thunder introduces three new adventure zones for high-leveled players where the story missions will take place – Bryn Shander, The Lonelywood and Cold Run. After completion of the new campaign, a new dungeon by the name of Fangbreaker Island will be available to delve into, offering a challenge unlike any other.

Our first step into the much-anticipated class balance arrives with this expansion where the Hunter Ranger, Scourge Warlock, Guardian Fighter and Great Weapon Fighter will undergo overhauls to make different paths more viable. These changes are currently on Preview if you’d like to check them out.

We have more information coming soon in our series of developer blogs leading up to August 16. Keep an eye out on our social channels and news page to stay up to date on all things Storm King’s Thunder.

Will you brave the storm?

“Neverwinter takes the most satisfying aspects of D&D's 4th edition in terms of combat and development, and turns it into a D&D adventure that left me squeeing with the joy of seeing my favorite monsters and mechanics.”
The Escapist

“Cryptic has created a finely tuned, smooth game that remembers the lessons its predecessors learned, and in the process bookends a long progeny of MMORPG development.”

Used to be good, didnt play for 6 Month, game went Pay 2 Win ( The most ♥♥♥♥ing annoying thing that ever could happen to a game, every pay 2 win game is determined to be gone in a couple years. (Playerbase))

Though Neverwinter (My first D&D experience) is one of the best MMOS i have ever played, most probably rank 1 for me, i love the PvP and also the PvE and this game does well in it.
Was fun, sad that this game is going down slowly, sad that developers get hungry over money ..

R.I.P Neverwinter

This game used to be fun and used to be good, now with the recent changes I come back after a 6 month leave and I'm welcomed with complete and utter pay to win. You used to be able to sell things in the AH now that is a thing of the past. Want good gear and not have to pay for it? Not gonna happen here. The best part of this game was running dungeons and now that is basically non existant, the game economy is useless. STAY AWAY AND DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. They are honestly just trying to scrape what little money they can get from this game before it officially dies.

i can't say this game is ♥♥♥♥ hns this game is not payto win is pay to speed up if you see it some pay to win then you oviesly are over acsaderading sens the only thing you play at time is qiuest after qiuest and is nothing wrong with that and you start feeling the game is boring then jump in a dungen you think that is boring to cuss you play it allready what if i told you neverwinter lett you make and play udders creatad dungens that mean you neverw will have a end off dungen to play and you allways have a adventure to go on now this is a short way to say it if you jump the text :)

Not: pay to win

It is: pay to speed up

Good: really player with a adventure feeling

Time?: yes like you job, wife, dog, house you need to spen time is the only thing we do all day so cool right ?

Graffics?: well i don't care they good? bad? how can you tell if is good or bad game by graffics any way ;_;

online: is allways fun and you can never have enough off fun... well yes but is not the point.

that is all, hop you can see this as a game made to be played not criticize and destroied by the community :)

This MMO has the outer shell of the world of Dungeons and Dragons without offering players the choice and creativity that is actually core to the D&D experience. Having a low roll on stats is strictly a detriment to combat ability rather than a generator of stories.

The progression system is an archaic series of quests that have players doing the same monotonous kill, talk, and gather actions the entire time they try to get to max level to "actually participate". Skill customization generally boils down to "which stats do you want more of?".

There is an custom dungeon builder, but because the only way to interact with the world with any depth is combat, most maps end up being a series of enemy encounters with "clever" dialogue text justifying it.

Despite the hours shown on my Steam account, I've played a LOT longer on my PS4 and via the Neverwinter launcher. The only thing I can say is I really wish this would be ported over to the MAC. Yes, we can use a Windows Booter-thingy to play Windows games on a MAC, but unfortunately, most people use that for very specific reasons (I use it for business and very few select games, so my partitioned space is used up - can't install anymore games).

Now, as for the game itself...

This is a 3 year old game - graphics are top of the line for 3 years old. Could they be expanded upon? They could be, but there really is no need to. The game looks very nice for it's short age and I have seen next to nill as far as graphical glitches during my journey.

They game runs smoothly and guides you through your quests perfectly. I miss the older days where you had to figure out where your quests were yourself, but I have learned those days are long over. The story is very nice... It is deep and full of emotion, it pulls you into the tales and gets you to fall in love with the characters you meet and fight for/with.

THIS is something Cryptic has done perfectly! The music in this game alone is worth logging into the game for, it is absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of a really good Dragon Age or the Lord of the Rings series, very top of the line music. Sound as far as battle and effects and character voices goes, those at times could use a little work - not much, but just a little. There are times I am running along and the sound that is going on will just stop out of the blue due to the track either just suddenly ending or some other sound interferring with the audio being able to play (i.e. the sound of battle in the background will suddenly stop due to a large explosion). Usually it takes a bit for the soundtracks to re-start themselves back up, but eventually they do... I've only ran into this a small handfull of times, so it really isn't a problem or concern. All in all, the audio is very nice!

Your choice of classes and races is nice, I would like to see some expansions on this - I know they just had one, but I mean as far as stepping out and away from the norm. You get your Paladins, Heavy Weapons Fighter, Warlock, Mage, Warrior and Cleric classes, these are all reminiscent of other MMOs. They all work differently, and therefore helps to seperate themselves from other MMOs, but you really won't be too slow to learn your favorite class if you are familiar with them in other MMOs (i.e. if you've played nothing but a mage in other MMOs, then in Neverwinter you won't have a hard time getting use to the Mage in this game neither). All in all, the characters you can make are pretty good... Customization is Great! Would like to see a few other thins added - more accessories and make-up for women, but that's really about it.

:Replay Value:
I would say the replay value is pretty high for this game... Do the stories change depending on your race/class? Well, to a small degree, but nothing game breaking or bending, just how some people speak to you is really it - or at least, that is how I have perceived it.

In the end, I really enjoy this MMO and will continue to play it for a lengthy period - but mostly on my PS4 as my Windows side of my MAC is clogged up with too much other important things. Really wish this would get ported... Steam would bring in a much larger crowd (I already know a few other people that would love this on their MACs and use their Windows for business therefore they cannot use Steam on that side). Until then, I will just play on my PS4...

At least i enjoyed my 1.000 hours i put in this game. NWO had a grind system like many other games but now it's something unacceptable. Considering you are a normal person, you have a life to live, a job to do, a wife to love (or whatever) and children to spend time with. But you also like MMORPGs and you want to spend a few hours each day's night to enjoy playing it. There you go, you WON'T. This game demands you to login everyday, forces you to do your daily missions because you can't do ♥♥♥♥ without their bonuses and what is even worse ? It NEVER ends...

NeverEndingGrindWinter I'd say.

P.S: Don't get me wrong, i used to be an endgame player. Now tired of this "LifeBound" game.

Pay to win, can't even enjoy solo play because it's all hidden behind a paywall. the game used to be AMAZING! It was a hope for MMO players, but it just turned into another microtransaction with good combat.

I like this game. I read a lot of bad reviews about it being pay to win, and maybe it is at higher levels or in PVP, but for a really smooth and enjoyable MMO leveling experience, this game really shines. Some are complaining about the dated graphics, but the animations are great and it runs smoothly on my laptop. It has user created quests, too! Fun.

This is is just awesome. There are so many classes and races that allow you to create your ideal character so you have a lot of fun. This game has one of the best combat systems I've ever seen (right next to TERA) that makes combat fastpaced and makes you feel like a total boss when you kill an enemy and the ragdoll death physics kick in. Although one problem with the game is that it is one of the least open world mmos out there. There is also an awesome story line that makes you solve one problem in Neverwinter and move on to te next. The feealing of finding an awesome peice of loot in a dungeon is just great. This game is so much better when you play with a friend or two so recommend it to a friend. There is a TON of types of enemies so combat is never repetitive because you can be fighting a squishy minion and out of no where a hulking guy with a giant axe walks up to you and he takes a lot more dodging and abilitie using than the others. I would reccomend this game to everyone becuase it's fun, has great combat and quests. Only thing wrong with it to me is the no open world.

Lag with 300Mbps internet connection (sh*tty servers) , nobody play it and towns are empty. Graphics at max are like doom 2004 at low settings. Characters have some sort of minecraft physics . Quests are boring and repetitive , quets made by others players are limited to *go kill 10 dogs* *destoy that box 10 times* *find the hammer next to me* ...

Great game, one of the few games where you dont have to buy a thing in the microtransaction area if you know what you are doing.

For those complaining, you can get Zen without spending a penny. Just keep Invoking, playing Skirmishes and playing PvP to get diamonds, which, if I recall correctly, you can turn 20k diamonds into 125 Zen. Might be grindy, but free is free. If you can manage to play that much, do it, I imagine the payment option is only there for people who cant play that much or cant deal with grinding...and if its the latter, its a MMO...MMOs are notorious for being grindy, even WoW's WoW Token is 20~k gold, depening on the market.

Welcome to the internet. You have nothing but free time for drama and pay to win VS QQ'ing pugs in PvP? Neverwinter is the game for you! Today for you, we have a broken ♥♥♥ game that the dev's refuse to fix so they add new mounts like the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ golden lion, a nice change from all of the birds: Dildobirds and Assbeaks. Like companions? You better be a hardcore PvE'er or you're wasting your precious gold, zen, AD, time and effort. Exhausted from all the ingame drama? Have an event! Have money to spend? We're having a flash sale! Finally have money but the sale of over? The players have broken the market! Like gambling? Try your hand at the legendary mounts, and possibly sick your mount at your attacker... Unless they are best in slot, then you did a whole 4K damage off of their 140K+ life, GOOD JOB PUGGLE! If herpes infested roleplaying is more your style, I invite you to go to the Moonstone Mask in Protector's Enclave, where you can throw water balloons at the roleplayers, and dance like a ♥♥♥♥ in your courtesan's outfit. And don't forget the endless hours in the chatboxes QQ'ing over people using this bug or that macro or this glitch or that hack or that cheat or who has a bigger sword-♥♥♥♥ or who sucks their mom's left ♥♥♥ at age 30. Welcome to Neverwinter, where everyone gets way too personal, and the biggest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ comes out on top in PvP.
