Announcing Neverwinter: Storm King's Thunder

Giants will return to the Sword Coast when Neverwinter: Storm King’s Thunder strikes on to PC in August 2016! In Neverwinter’s tenth expansion, adventurers will experience an uprising of giants, which follows the upcoming tabletop expansion from Wizards of the Coast.

Adventurers will travel north to Bryn Shander - capital of Icewind Dale - to investigate the sudden presence of frost giants in the region. No visit to Icewind Dale would be complete without the help of Catti-brie and Wulfgar - characters from R.A. Salvatore’s novels - who will aid adventurers in their quest to stop the invading giants.

High-level adventurers will also experience a new campaign, which will take them across three new adventure zones and story content for Neverwinter: Storm King’s Thunder. In addition, our newest expansion will introduce a new tier of Dungeon for adventurers seeking a challenge.

We’ll reveal more detailed information in the future, so stay tuned. Make sure to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Neverwinter: Storm King’s Thunder will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation®4 at a later date.

Will you brave the storm?

If you're a free player, the gameplay will get really dull after you reach maximum level (60, back when I used to play it more often).

Still worth it cuz' Foundry.

Love Neverwinter so far. Iv'e played it on Xbox one. Girl friend wanted to try it and hasn't gotten off of it in 5 hours so I downloaded it on pc. Kinda disappointed controllers aren't supported as I'm already used to the controllers button mapping and I don't have a mouse. Oh well, still fun!

I love this game! Up to end-game content it's awesome, atmospheric, rich and fun to play.

And then you max your level up and come to an end-game. And most, if not all, the fun and richness is gone. Because the only thing you will do is grind... and grind... and grind...

Or, of course, you can pay. Like, real money.

Yes, you can pay with in-game currency too but.. A guildie of mine took an effort to calculate how much ADs (Astral Diamonds, most used in-game currency) and time you need to spend to actually get the top gear with all the stuff ranked to the highest rank. And getting ADs only from playing, not selling/buying or speculating on Auction House or otherwise. I don't remember the final amount of ADs but I do remember the time it would require: around 80 years! Got it? You must spend your whole life playing the game to earn enough to get your gear where you want it to have. Again, earning ADs only by playing.

Ok, it might be that the number is not very accurate, or not accurate at all, because you can get some nice stuff by sheer luck. Still, amount of time or real money you need to invest in is getting close to insane...

Spectacular concepts, some of the most visceral, engaging, and energetic combat ever put in an MMORPG. Problem is, the content is so poorly designed there's no way to enjoy that excellent combat. They need to learn to nerf the grind of previous expansions to make the end game focus mostly on the most current expansion. The game is jarringly disjointed and unfocused. If they slashed the timers and mega buffed the gains in the older modules this game would be damn near perfect. As is, good luck ever enjoying this if you didn't start at the day of the last closed beta wipe. Something that could be a solid 9/10 with a few small tweaks is basically an unplayable 2/10 mess.

At least i enjoyed my 1.000 hours i put in this game. NWO had a grind system like many other games but now it's something unacceptable. Considering you are a normal person, you have a life to live, a job to do, a wife to love (or whatever) and children to spend time with. But you also like MMORPGs and you want to spend a few hours each day's night to enjoy playing it. There you go, you WON'T. This game demands you to login everyday, forces you to do your daily missions because you can't do ♥♥♥♥ without their bonuses and what is even worse ? It NEVER ends...

NeverEndingGrindWinter I'd say.

P.S: Don't get me wrong, i used to be an endgame player. Now tired of this "LifeBound" game.

A very fun and amusing game to pass your time, if you don't mind all the attempts to siphon the money our of your wallet. Completely playable without breaking out a single cent, after that the endgame is quite lackluster.

Endgame costs nothing to get into, expansions come free.

From there, you either spend time grinding refinement points to make your gear better, or pay to increase your gains.

If you consider that pay to win, then you may not like the game, but know that everything in the cash shop CAN eventually be earned with time spent in game. I look at it that the developers have to make money some how, or the game shuts down. You can't have everythign free in life, children.

PvP and cuttign edge endgame PvEmay require you to spend a little money if you can't wait, but casual players can get by pretty easily. Worth a look if you want a action combat based MMO.

I've played this game since Beta, so I've probably clocked up 1k more hours than this over the time I've played it. I used to play this game all the time. But the devs in this game love to ♥♥♥♥ over the players and a f2p player will find themselves in dire straits because there is no such thing as f2p. Pvp is a joke, Pve content endgame is mostly a grind to get yourself on the same par as your average players, and there is little to no reward when it comes to running the "dungeons." Did I already mention the stupidly repetitive grinding through each of the campaign? This game is about as alt unfriendly as you can get. I used to love this game. I really did. Now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I seriously wouldn't.

Honestly.. I've been playing this game since mod 2 or something and many things have changed. In fact, i want to be accurate and i've been playing this game since Dread Ring was released. Before even Hunter Ranger,Scourge Warlock and Oathbound Paladin classes were even realeased. For those who have played this game they know the Dread Ring Campaign, they have played this game just before it's release date they know about what times i'm talking about.Back then there was no overflow experience and not 70 level being the maximum level.I remember dungeons were divided in 3 tiers and the highest gear score(which is basically one's player stats)was about 21k and maximum HP about 50k(which back then it was something mad) and i'm talking about full epic equipment with full rank 10 enchantments.Things back then were not that easy but still. After i've realised the servers have been treated poorely by the developers and now the game is evolved into a stealing money machine i've reached into a conclusion. After experiencing the whole game in mod 6 i've grown tired of this, after watching everything change into some sort of artifact hunt and mythic b*llshit, after trancendent vorpal enchantments got out and rank 12 enchantments worthing a hell lot of money i understood that this game has been destroyed.Around 500 hours on Steam and same as many in Arc launcher almost to 1000 hours of gameplay i realised that i will be never be bored to the gameplay of this game.Because it is amazing but as i said before i'm tired of this sick growing development. If you are still reading this, good job.. many would have just ignored that or pass this review just like an old dusty book in a library but if you are the one curious to open and read that old dusty book, you are from now on a really good path because only dusty books hide some secrets and let's say that this review is just one of them.I'm telling that you will love this game but after spending all this time on this game and you reach to an end you'll then realise that it was a waste of time. Because gaming has now lost its own sense and meaning and you will really wonder why haven't you spent all this time somewhere else so in the end you would be satisfied. In all means(and just because i'm a assh*le writing all this huge boring sh*ty review)i'm telling you to play this game and you will have fun.You will come down my path and you'll experience as much as i had but in the end it doesn't even matter. So fellow gamer good luck :)
and don't forget it's good to explore new places.

This game WAS good! However it is now ruined by microtransacions and it is very difficult to get almost ANYTHING without grinding the ♥♥♥♥ out of it. Played it for 127 hours and only enjoyed 80 of them. PvP is also pay to win where the player who spent the most money beats up your ♥♥♥ everytime...

I would recommend it 1 year ago, but now I won\'t. Don\'t waste your time with this game

Long time fan of all things forgotten realms here, and I wish I could reccomend this game. I wish I could say it's good. I want it to be good.

I have tried multiple times to pick it up and give it another shot, especially now that rage of demons is out and I would have a chance to play a game alongside Drizzt, the character that sucked me into this universe when I was young.

But the game is just... bad. Chat innundated with spammers, a world that feels watered down and stripped of the lore that made the games so great, a complete lack of customization for classes... it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ization of everything that makes Dungeons and Dragons great. Not to mention the advertisements everywhere for all the pay to win ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t and the ridiculous prices they ask for the most inane things.

This isn't dungeons and dragons. This is WoW with a badly done skin of dungeons and dragons thrown overtop of it. Maybe I'll try it again someday, and maybe it will get better, but I just cannot reccomend this game, at least not to anyone who wants the depth and character that D&D and the Forgotten Realms is so famous for.

If you want to experience that? Play the old games. Pick up Baldur's Gate, or better yet, pick up a pencil and print yourself a character sheet and play actual dungeons and dragons.

If my opinion changes, so will this review, but this game has shown me nothing to hold my interest other than one module that is *completely* different for tabletop, but I don't know if I can stomach the rest to get to 60 to experience the different campaigns.

I quit playing this game over a year ago due to severely unbalanced systems in every facet (Crafting, Economy, PvP, PvE). PvP was a total joke and the developers never once made any efforts to patch some balance into their money-sink.
Hacker and crackers and exploiters were allowed free run with ZERO banning.
Gold salez and gold spamz were actually encouraged by this company.
If you want a game that you can super easy hack then this is your spot. Have fun and become a pocket dev.

I dont mind spending money in a F2P if the game is good and the core mechanics of this game are great. Combat is fun, dungeons are fun, quests are ok. But it requires you to spend a ton of cash to be very successful. To many things that are necessary to play cannot be obtained reasonabley outside of the cash shop. It sucks mellineals complained the sub model out of existense and cursed us all with the microtransaction monstrosities because they dont want to pay for things. 99% of what makes this game ♥♥♥♥, could be eliminated by perfect world if they just offered a sub. I hate SWOTOR too, but thats the best F2P model and its still more or less ♥♥♥♥.
