This is one of my favorte games. Don't let the basic graphics or the 2D nature fool you. This game is amazing, it gets new updates every once in a while, its only ten dollers, even minecraft is like almost 30. And don't think this is a minecraft clone either. Have you bought it yet?

What starts as an extremely confusing game soon turns out to be one of the most addictive games I've played.
I highly recommend reading the Wiki pages about more or less anything game related.
This way you will save yourself a lot of time trying to understand the mechanics of the game.
Newbie tip:
1. Chop down some wood (~200)
2. Build a house
3. Build a workbench
4. Kill a few slimes
5. Create some torches
6. Start exploring and looking for ore to upgrade your equipment.

When playing Terraria for the first time ever (the longest overview of this game ever written):
Take forever to chop down one tree
Not follow the guide's advice
Instead bury him in a hole so he doesn't move into your house
He moves in anyway
Find copper on the surface
Get a bunch of it and get decked out on copper armor & weapons
Suddenly, wild iron appears
"Oh come on, now I have to get a bunch of iron too?"
Finally finish with iron armor/tool set, feeling brave and ready to explore the underground
Get killed by skeletons, dart traps, and boulders, and lose the 50 silver you've amassed, rage quit
You've calmed down by the next day
Bravely go caving again
Kill those stupid bats and dodge those dart traps like a pro
Get a ton of gold ore and other cool stuff from chests and a heart crystal, as well as some Suspicious-Looking Eyes
"Well, I've got 120 health and gold armor w/ a Shoddy Enchanted Boomerang, and it's just a stupid eye after all, right?"
Eye of Cthulu has awoken!
Die within one minute of fighting off Servants of Cthulu
"Well, I guess that's supposed to be the final boss or something"
Enter the jungle and get killed by hornets before you find one shrine
Persist and get full jungle armor/Blade of Grass/Thorn Chakram
"How ya like me now, Eye of Cthulu?"
Die within two minutes this time, dealing a total of 200 damage to EoC
Demolitionist moves in
Spend every penny you have on dynamite
"Oh yeah, now I'll break those stupid purple blocks that I can't break with a pickaxe"
Blow yourself up
2nd try
"I'm out of ideas what to do here, so I'm just gonna smash these purple orbs with a hammer"
A horrible chill goes down your spine...
Screams echo around you...
"Hmm...that sounds scary, but I'm gonna go ahead and smash another orb"
Eater of Worlds has awoken!
Kill it on your first try because seriously, that boss is way too easy
Kill that stupid EoW over and over until you get full shadow gear
"Eye of Cthulu...I will not fall to you again!"
EoC eats it, you win
"All right! What rare and valuable items does this boss drop?"
(60 Demonite ore, 2 Corrupt Seeds)
Once you've calmed down from that, visit the dungeon
"Hmmm, I'll just go through this door and down into this brick dungeon..."
You were brutally dissected by Dungeon Guardian
"Well that's not fun"
Return to dungeon
Keep clicking on the old man until night falls and the "curse" option appears
Skeletron has awoken!
Get knocked about by his hands and finished off by his spinning head attack before you can say "game over"
Visit the Wiki to see how many bosses there are
26 bosses total
"Oh god..."

...if this review was too boring or lengthy, let me know.

Take days to make a Hellevator, only for it to continuously be flooded so you keep drowning while digging
Finally done, now it's time to visit Hell - what could be dangerous about that?
Die in lava
Die in lava
Die in lava
Killed by Hellstone
Killed by lava from Hellstone
Killed by Demons
Killed by Fire Imps
Killed by an endless swarm of Hellbats
Finally kill a Voodoo Demon, only for the Guide Voodoo Doll to drop in lava
Wall of Flesh has awoken!
"Wonderful. The guide's finally dead."
Attempt to deal some damage to WoF with your puny Demonite weapons
Killed by a swarm of The Hungries
Courageously return to Hell
After dying a million times, accumulate hundreds of Hellstone
Return, try to make Hellstone Bars
Go to now-respawned guide, check what to do with Hellstone
"Obsidian? Hellforge? Ugh..."
Look up what Obsidian is
"Got it"
Look up what a Hellforge is
"Got it"
Die a few thousand more times before getting what you need
Hellstone time, baby
"Oh my god this is the best what could top armor and a sword and a bow and a boomerang and a pickaxe made of fire......."
Skeletron's gonna get it now, you think?
Well, yeah, he's done for
Cautiously venture into the dungeon..."Dungeon Guardian...you down here, buddy?"
Exploration time
"Can't seem to get these chests open"
Kill Dungeon Slime
Treasures galore
Spend like 2 weeks (real-life weeks, not in-game weeks) exploring every centimeter of that place
"Ok my brain's beginning to deteriorate from those incessant skeleton sound effects"
Resurface, with about 1000 Angry Bones Banners
Spend nearly every last coin on Minishark, only for it to have the "Shameful" modifier
Spend the very last coin on reforging
"Oh god please let it be good"
Reforges to Zealous...+5% critical strike chance
"I'll take it!"
Now feeling confident about Wall of Flesh
Spend like a week building a bridge across Hell
Spend another week searching left and right for a Voodoo Demon
None to be found (but they seemed abundant back when they were always knocking you into lava...)
Find a single, solitary Voodoo Demon
Finally, time for the ultimate showdown...
Wall of Flesh has awoken! ...again.
Fight right to the edge of your bridge
But, justice prevails...that Wall is dead
Items...Shoddy Clockwork Assault Rifle
"Great. I blow 35 gold on a shark gun, and now it just immediately gives me a better gun? Thanks a lot, ReLogic!"
The ancient spirits of light and dark have been released...
"Well what's that supposed to mean?"
Whatever it is...it'll involve you mining a bunch more ore.

TO BE CONTINUED (Even if this does become boring for others, I just want to see how long I can make this review. If people do still like it, cool.)

Alright, do your worst, Hardmode
Find a bunch of Demon Altars
Break them all at once
Get swarmed by Wraiths
Kill them with 10HP remaining, get finished off by Eater of Souls
Time to mine
After about a month of mining and 347 more deaths from these newfangled Hardmode enemies, you're geared up with Adamantite and also have some Mechanical Worms/Eyes/Skulls
"The Destroyer? The Twins? Skeletron Prime? Ahhhh, they're nothin' against my Adamantite! Summon all three!"
Well that was a mistake
Figure out what you need for the Destroyer: Fetid Baghnahks
Spend hours creating new world after new world, praying that the next one will be Crimson
Create Crimson Mimics w/chests & Dark Keys
Get pummelled by that beast
After getting like 9 Tendon Hooks, Fetid Baghnahks finally drop
"Time for justice, Destroyer"
Destroyer gets destroyed...those Baghnahks are just unfair...
Of course, you get cocky and take on the Twins on the same night
Let's just say it doesn't go too well
You feel the innermost depths of your mind starting to decay...nahhh, it's probably nothing.
Time for the Megashark
Drown while getting clobbered by sharks at the same time
At the expense of patience and a little bit more of your sanity, the hybrid shark-gun is complete at last
Finally, time for those eyes to go blind
Realize that musket balls are, in fact, not effective vs. Hardmode bosses
Realize that you've erred once again
Realize that you're now dead (in the game and on the inside)
Do battle once again, this time for realsies
Time to spend these hard-earned Hallowed Bars
Excalibur ("ohmygoditslikesoperfecthowcouldaswordbemorepowerfulthanthis")
Hallowed Armor ("duuuuuudelookhowsweetthislooksiaminvincibleiamgod")
Light Discs ("Eh, they're ok.")
"Well, considering how, ummm, EASILY, yeah easily, I defeated Skeletron, adding a 'Prime' at the end can't mean much of a change"
Of course it can!
SP kills you again
And again
And again
And again
And again
And again
And again

...and I've reached the character limit. Congratulations to those who read all the way through my giant string of stupid thoughts from the top down to here. My final, climactic* verdict on the game? Well, look no further...

13/10 would waste 20 full days (500+hours) of my life, kill 1/4 of my brain cells, die inside, and lose contact with reality again

For only 10 USD, this game provides a ton of content that is well worth more
than the price of 10 USD
Specs./PC Requirements
Requires very minimal power until you have to defeat the final boss.
I personnay run this on 45 fps and I have defeated the final boss
It has the basic priniples of Minecraft, gather resources, survive, and defeat
the bosses, but Terraria has something that makes it a very well known title.
Terraria has thousands of accessories, has a crap ton of armor to choose from
and a very wide variety of resources you can use for various uses. Don't like
singleplayer? Well, you don't have to be alone. This game offers multiplayers
so you can have friends join in and do whatever you want. From mods and
glitches that can't get you Vac'd, I don't see why you don't have this game.
Updates are rare but are big ones if they are released. The community has a
great positive mood, I personally haven't experienced any trolls and negative players.
Just buy the game and be creative!

This game might be one of the most fun and creative games out there, and it vewy vewy cheap too!

You get set in random generated world (don't worry its not bad like Nms) and you get to explore around, make a cool house or base!
Tons of bosses, fun multiplayer, diffrent tier-modes, creative monsters and items and after so much time its still being updated!

A new Terraria game is coming 'soon' but don't let that hold you off from buying this game!

[TIP: Be as creative and open as possible when building stuff and find a playstyle that fits you the best! (Also don't spoiler yourself too much) ]

Amazing Game. At one point I took a step back and thought about what was happening. I noticed that a friend of mine was riding a pirate ship dressed like a bride shooting kittens out of his sword to defeat aliens. This game covers it all to say the least.

Alright, this game is probably one of the best games that i have ever played. At first, when my friend was talking about a 2D game that was kinda like minecraft where you could build whatever you wanted and fight monsters at night, i was thinking that you might aswell go play minecraft. But my friend constantly bugged me saying that this is a must play game. After about 2 months of harrasment a sale happend that brought this game down to two bucks. Once that happend within 30 seconds of the sale my friend had bought a copy of the game for me. As you can see from the amount of hours i have on this game it wasn't for nothing. We have "beaten" the game about 5 times, first on softcore easy world (at this point there wasn't any hard world option) then we tried to only stick two one class throught a whole playthrough getting to the end (at this point the end was Duke Fishron) after a couple months of not playing the game we came back and found that there was a massive update to the game and a Boss called the Moonlord was a thing. At this point there wasn't any knowlage of the moonlord, like how to spawn him, how hard he is, what he drops. We kept it a mystery until we would eventually kill him ourselves. So we started an easy worth with softcore characters and started on a journey that brought back memories. Once we had killed the Eye of Cthulu, and as usual my friend and i fought over who got the loot from him, we had heard some talk about a new game mode called Hardmode. So we packed up all our stuff and moved onto a hardmode world. Now that slimes could basically two hit us ♥♥♥♥ started to get heated. With multiple cases of raging to trying to get our money that we had lost back, to basically anything that wasnt planned jumping right on our asses. After a very long month or so of playing about 5 times a week we had seen these wierd looking "Cultists" at our doungeon. Seeing as we don't like people just taking over them we tried to kill them, thus resulting on an epic battle of things flying everywhere and the lead cultist splitting into aobut 20 different holograms of himself we realized that this fright wasn't even a challenge. Once he was dead a weird looking orange sun poped up in the background, it took about five seconds of us admiring the "moon set" until a massive fire worm came and one shot both of us. After many trial and errors trying to defeat the different colours that we still didn't understand we had killed the last pillar that led to the fastest death you could imagine. Once the last pillar had been taken down we set our in search of the one thing that would spawn the moon lord that we had been hearing so much about. Once we saw the words on our screen and seeing it getting all fuzzy we were wondering what was going on until we saw a massive moon looking man come and one shot both of us with a huge lazer that decimated everything that it touched. After all that time and enerygy we realized that we could craft some pretty decent stuff from the little sould that the pillars dropped. Now equipping some of the best gear in the game we had rtied about 4 more times with the pillars and finally defeated the moon lord. Once all of that was done we had taked a much longer break. Now we have stared to play again and this time we are playing medium core characters. Just some advice, if you have even made it this far in my journey of Terraria, dont try and play a medium core for your first character. you will not play this game again. ill try and finish the mediumcore play through and then maybe evern a hardcore one. (if its at all possible) The story of Primordial ^-^

I think one of the greatest features of this game is the map. It's designed by you through experience. This results with you learning and remembering nearly every aspect of it as you are playing; without question. The difference between a map learned through creation experience vs. time experience is apparently much more rapid. If I were to attempt to play this game on someone elses carved tunnel systems, where I can not alter the terrain, I would not learn it and understand it as if I were the one carving the tunnels.

Experience is, indeed, the best teacher.
