What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Getting feedback from enthusiastic gamers was one of the best things to happen to Bombing Quest during the early stages of the development. The game grew, evolving in form and function. However, as a small indie team of two, we’ve got a limited pool of testers - mostly friends and other indie devs – which isn’t really enough to settle things such as the balance and the overall feel.

We believe that the most suitable form of player progression is to have more diverse and challenging opponent mechanics. That way, everyone who plays the game would hopefully develop different opinions for the best equipment depending on their style of play. Enemies and bosses that feel like a walk in the park, for one, turn out to be the other kryptonite and vice versa. To balance those things and make Bombing Quest be able to deliver the best possible experience, we need your feedback. As much of it as possible.

Don't shy away from sharing your experiences with us :)”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“6 to 14 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“At the moment due to the popular demand the highest priority is adding multiplayer to the game!

In the future, we are mostly going to add/improve the content and lore, fix bugs and optimize the performance.

At the very least:
- We are going to add 1-2 late game biomes.
- Wrap up the main story arc.
- Polish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All the basic systems for the game are complete with no major bugs that we know of. The main gameplay loop is stable. Bombing Quest currently takes 8-10 hours on average to complete, but if you are very strong Bomberman player you might be able to beat it in half that time.

Things to keep in mind:
- The main story arc is not complete and some of the lore segments are subject to change.
- The game uses custom collision detection, which has some problems running at a low fps - running the game on a PC that’s less powerful than the minimum system requirements. That could result in an unpleasant experience.

Current content:
- 5 large biomes and 2 smaller ones
- 34 Unique enemies (not including different skins)
- 8 bosses,
- 9 quests
- 20+ Gear upgrades”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes - As new content is being added, the price is expected to go up.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback is very important to us, so we would like to communicate as much as possible. There is an in-game feature to send us feedback directly. You can also contact us on the Steam forum, Facebook, join our Discord Server or send us an e-mail.”

About This Game

You wake up as a dwarf, chained in an exosuit with no memories of the past. What surrounds you are the walls of an ancient temple. Your only guides are mysterious shrines. Your only ally is a friendly robot - the suit support unit. You make your way out of the temple to find out that its builders have long been forgotten. Humans have settled over the ruins of the old empire. Fierce monsters roam across the land. Dangerous insects lurk in the shadows. Ancient rusty automatons keep digging towards the core of the world with the same relentless persistence they had on the day they were abandoned. In the middle of all of this is you - the last guardian of a mysterious ark, with your only weapon - the bombs that your suit produces.

Bombing Quest stays faithful to the classical bomberman battle mechanic - you fight on a grid, where you plant bombs, which explode in four directions. Once inside a grid, you need to think strategically on where and when to plant bombs to damage the enemies without damaging yourself. As you progress through the game, the enemies will get quicker, smarter and will also develop more diverse attacks and behaviour, which will require you to react and adapt quicker. You will find components and gadgets to upgrade your battle suit to be able to produce more bombs with greater power, increase your health and speed, give you new abilities and so on.

It's divided in biomes and is semi-open - meaning you walk freely and chose where and when to battle, but you need to progress with the story to unlock the next biome. Each biome has its own distinctive look and enemies, often requiring different strategies to be effective. It has one or more bosses. There is a different sub story related to each one, often with its own quest line. The quests are started by interacting with NPCs you encounter around the game world. Some quests require actions actross multiple biomes.

- Killing fantasy creatures (no blood or gore)
- Receiving damage is indicated by corners of the screen having a reddish texture representing blood for half a second.
- Monster roars and sound effects
- Skeletons and blood are present in some areas in the environment design.
- Alien insects and creepy ambient audio is present in some areas.
