What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I created the first version of No Signal in the Sewer in just four weeks as part of the final project of my apprenticeship. In that short time, I managed to do far more than I originally expected, but the game is still a long way from being complete. My final project will be over in a few weeks, but No Signal in the Sewer has already grown close to my heart, and I will keep working on it afterwards until it truly feels like a complete game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Since I'm developing the game on my own alongside a full-time job, my time is limited. Still, I'll work on it as often as I can and take as much time as I need to make it a really good game. I can't give an exact date yet, but I currently expect Early Access to last at least a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Runs will become much longer, with more levels and new bosses. Each level is planned to offer more items, more enemies and much more variety than it does now, for example a merchant in the sewers. The surface, the hub of the game, will also get more things to interact with.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version contains the core elements of a roguelike: one complete sewer level with rooms in a new order every run, three types of enemies, the Stone Golem as a boss and items that make you stronger during a run. On the surface, the hub of the game, you can spend the coins you bring back on permanent upgrades.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will stay the same during Early Access. In general, it will be kept low, because making a lot of money is not my goal. Once the game leaves Early Access, I plan to raise the price, but it will still remain comparatively affordable.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can already report bugs, give feedback and share their ideas and wishes directly in the game through "Feedback & Bugs" in the main menu and pause menu. I'll also follow the Steam discussions. For bigger decisions, I plan to let the community vote, because what matters most is that the players enjoy the game, not just me.”

About This Game

A guy stares at his phone, misses an open manhole and falls right in. His phone lands in the sewage, the lid closes above him, and the only thing he finds is an old flashlight. From now on, it's both his light source and his weapon.

Fight Your Way Up

To get out of this hole, you have to brave the pitch-dark sewers. Your flashlight shows you the way, but outside its beam you only see the glowing eyes of whatever is watching you. Rats, bats, slimes and other dwellers of the deep stand in your way, and at the end waits the Stone Golem, who does not like visitors at all. If you die, you start over from the beginning with nothing but your flashlight.

Everything That Went Down the Drain

Along the way, you'll find items that someone flushed down at some point. Each one makes you stronger in some way, even if it's just a roll of toilet paper.

The Cleaning Service

The cleaning service pays you coins for every enemy you defeat. With those coins, you can upgrade your gear to make your trips through the sewers easier. Best of all, you keep your upgrades even when you die.

Features

  • Dark sewers lit only by your flashlight and a few flickering torches
  • Rooms, enemies and items shuffled in every run
  • Rats, bats and slimes, each with their own attacks
  • Boss fight against the Stone Golem
  • Permanent upgrades from the cleaning service
  • Pixel art

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some content in this game was created with the help of generative AI:
- The background music is by a third-party artist who states that it was created with AI assistance.
- The logo, the item icons, the trapdoor and the recolored cleaning service sprite are based on AI-generated drafts that I redrew and edited by hand.
- Some texts in the game and on the store page were written, proofread or translated with the help of AI.
I plan to replace the AI-assisted graphics and music with human-made content in future updates.
