About This Game

There is no attack button

You cannot shoot. There are no shields, no power-ups. What you have is dodging, and bombs. A bomb wipes every bullet, laser and laser warning that is on screen at that moment, but charging enemies keep coming. You start with one and earn another for every 5 stages you clear in a run, with no cap. When to spend one, or whether to carry them all to the end, is up to you. Strip everything else away and what is left is the thing coming toward you, you slipping through it, and the bombs you have not used yet.

The rule is fifteen seconds

  • Every stage is cleared by surviving 15 seconds. That is the entire rule
  • Clear one and you go straight into the next. There is no final stage — bullets grow faster, denser and more intricate the further you go
  • Your hitbox is a small point at the center of your ship, far smaller than it looks. If the graphic overlaps but the core slips past, you are fine
  • Attacks are assembled from a seed based on the stage number, so a given stage always feels the same without ever being laid out identically
  • A hit costs one life, followed by 2 seconds of invulnerability. Take a hit at zero lives and the run is over

New Game — Stage 1, 3 lives, 1 bomb. Everyone starts from the same place.
Continue — your best stage, 1 life, 1 bomb. For when you only want what comes next.

The leaderboards are the game

Your score is the stage you reached. Ties are broken by how long you survived on that final stage. Nothing else adds points. While you play, your current score sits at the top of the screen: it ticks up every second, and when you clear a stage it climbs straight to the next stage's value.
  • Two score boards: Overall and the New Game Division, so runs built up from Stage 1 stand as their own competition
  • View World Top 100, Around You, or Friends. Your own row is always highlighted
  • Quarterly seasons — the score boards roll over into a new season in January, April, July and October. All-time boards stay up permanently, and every past season remains browsable. Records from before the bomb update are kept on the "Score (Ver.1)" board (view only)
  • Six stat leaderboards — login streak, total play time, total app time, total stages cleared, total graze, and total bullets cleared by bombs
  • Four bomb leaderboards — bombs held at game over, longest stretch survived without using a bomb, survival time of a run with zero bombs used (best single run), and most bullets cleared by one bomb
  • Share your rank to X with an automatically generated record card image

Graze — nothing happens where it is safe

When a bullet passes just beside your ship it counts as a graze, answered by a small burst of particles and a high, clean tone. Graze adds nothing to your score. What it feeds is your title conditions and a leaderboard of its own — total graze. Bullets you clear with a bomb work the same way: they add nothing to your score, and they have leaderboards of their own. And still you will hold Shift to slow down and lean toward the bullets, because as long as you keep your distance, nothing in this game happens at all.

42 titles

  • 42 titles covering stages reached, lifetime play, playstyle, and a set of hidden ones whose conditions are never shown
  • Equip one and it appears beside your name on the leaderboards and the results screen
  • Titles you have not earned show only a hint of their condition — the hidden ones do not even show that

20 gimmicks, and a gallery

  • 20 attack gimmicks: straight and aimed shots, full-circle rings, spirals, telegraphed lasers, sweeping and grid lasers, ricochets, converging volleys, charging formations and more
  • From Stage 15 onward they begin arriving two or three at a time
  • The Gallery lets you watch and practice any gimmick you have encountered at least once, for as long as you like, with no way to be hit. Anything you have not met yet stays "???"

Comfort and accessibility

  • Screen shake, surface flash, and slow motion / hitstop can each be turned off independently
  • Rebindable keys for movement, slow move, bomb, and pause
  • Separate BGM and SE volume; windowed or borderless fullscreen
  • English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean — follows your Steam language setting, switchable in-game
  • Gameplay (including the tutorial) and the pause menu work with an XInput gamepad (the title, settings and other menus use mouse and keyboard)

Also included

  • An optional Tutorial you can play from the title screen at any time. Six steps on the real playfield: Move, Slow Move and Hitbox, Dodge, Graze, Bomb, and Clear a Stage. Hits cost no lives, and nothing counts toward leaderboards, titles, achievements or your play records
  • 10 Steam Achievements, and Steam Cloud save sync
  • An entirely original soundtrack
  • A board of nothing but white and black, and a single blue triangle. Each stage flips the surface between light and dark — that flip is how you know you cleared it
