Why Early Access?

“Desktop Halfpipe already works as a full desktop companion, but Early Access lets us keep shaping it with real player feedback (polish, quality-of-life, and new customization) before calling it “1.0.” We’d rather ship a solid overlay now and improve it with the community than wait forever in private.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for roughly 3–9 months of Early Access, depending on feedback and how much we expand after launch. We’ll leave Early Access when the companion feels stable, well-documented, and feature-complete for a 1.0 release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We'll keep growing Desktop Halfpipe based on what players actually use. Directions we're exploring include:

More riders, tricks, places and seasonal events
More of Standstillville: neighbors, errands and stories
Quality-of-life (hotkeys, tray options, performance, multi-monitor setups)
More ways to play along with Twitch chat
Better Steam integration over time, such as Cloud saves

The core idea stays the same: a cozy skatepark at the bottom of your screen, not a big traditional skate game. And every DLC stays free.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Desktop Halfpipe is fully playable today. Ride six sports on the halfpipe, the street and downhill; play Rampage, Slalom and S-K-A-T-E; visit the Plaza in Standstillville, join a guild and help your neighbors; and enjoy seasons, weather and holidays that follow your real clock. Seven free DLC add music, fishing, pets, a drive-in, a farm and two handheld games. Early Access is about polish and growth, not finishing a blank slate.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We’re not planning to raise the price just for leaving Early Access. If we add a large amount of new content later, we may reconsider pricing for new buyers, but our current plan is to keep pricing simple and fair for Early Access supporters.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’ll watch Steam discussions, wishlists/reviews, and our community spaces (including Reddit) for bug reports, feature requests, and setup clips. We plan to prioritize fixes and features players actually ask for, share update notes when we ship changes, and keep the feedback loop open throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

A little skatepark for the bottom of your screen.

Remember when your desktop felt like a place? Desktop Halfpipe brings that vibe back. A tiny rider carves a halfpipe along the edge of your screen while you work, browse, game, or stream. Glance down and they're mid-air. Stay a minute and chase a high score. Or let them ride on their own and just enjoy the company.

It's cozy, it's quiet, and it never asks for your whole screen.

Pick Your Ride

Skateboard, inline skates, BMX, scooter, snowboard, or skis. Switch any time from the tray. Every rider knows every trick, they just call them different things. A skater's Double Kickflip is a BMX rider's Double Tailwhip.

Easy to Learn, Fun to Master

  • Catch air, pull tricks, and chain them into combos

  • Land Ollies and Kickflips on the ground

  • Chase your personal best and 16 Steam Achievements

No skill trees, no grind. Just ride, trick, land, repeat. And if you'd rather not keep score at all, Cozy Mode means a bail never costs you a thing.

Take It to the Street

When you want a change of scenery, roll out to the street or down the hill. Smash through Rampage, weave the Slalom gates, or play a game of S-K-A-T-E against one of the town's guild kids.

The Town Next Door

Just past the pipe is Standstillville, a small town that's always glad to see you. Stop by the Plaza, join one of four guilds, and help your neighbors with their errands. Miso stitches up Carlos's mail bag at the laundromat. Welly's record shop always has something new. Spend enough time and you'll start to notice who's looking out for whom.

Seasons on Your Clock

Desktop Halfpipe runs on your real date and time. Spring blooms, autumn turns orange, winter snows over the pipe. Rain rolls in, fog settles, fireflies come out on summer nights. Holidays arrive on their real dates, and Wednesday is always Concert Night. We even sync the phases of the moon to the real world.

  • Halfpipe Radio: 400+ lo-fi, jazzhop, and East Coast hip-hop instrumentals across four stations.

  • Halfpipe Fishing: Cast a line at high tide and comb the beach for shells at low tide.

  • Halfpipe Pets: A dog, cat, bird, rabbit, or hamster to keep you company while you ride.

  • Halfpipe Drive-In: A night lot, a diner, a movie on the big screen, and cars to serve.

  • Halfpipe Crop Circles: A farm by your pipe. Plant, harvest, and let the rain do the watering.

  • Pocket: Roast Story: An 8-bit coffee shop on your rider's handheld, serving thirsty spirits.

  • Pocket: Apogee: Celestial pachinko on your rider's handheld. Play as a planet; your moons score the points.
