About This Game

One Thought Immortal is a single-player cultivation RPG with turn-based combat, chance encounters, and legacies carried from one lifetime to the next.

Begin as a novice on the Qingxuan Continent. Join a sect, study cultivation methods, brew pills, forge equipment, and visit towns and secret realms. Along the way, you will meet friends, rivals, and perhaps a dao companion. Emerge from years in seclusion to find that someone has broken through, someone has moved on, and someone has fallen silent.

Find your feet in Qingxuan

One Thought Immortal is a single-player cultivation RPG with turn-based combat. Start as a novice seeking immortality, visiting towns, joining a sect, and searching for secret realms on one continuous map. Take a job when spirit stones run low. Gather ingredients for the pills you need. When you feel ready, try to break through to the next realm.

Check your messages when you leave seclusion

Stop to talk with a passing cultivator, offer a gift, or ask for a spar. Get to know someone well enough and you can travel together, become sworn friends, or pursue a dao companion. Exchange a Voice Jade Slip to keep in touch. News of a breakthrough, an invitation, a call for help: life goes on while you train. Someone you part with today may not be there when you return.

Take a sect assignment. Remember the deadline.

Pick up work at the Mission Hall, brew pills, forge equipment, and spend your contributions on cultivation methods at the Scripture Pavilion. Your Sect Master and Peak Master have work for you too, from hunting enemies and escorting travelers to bringing aid. Work out what you can handle and how much time the journey will take. You still have to make it back to report.

Count your talismans before you go in

Battles play out in turns, with cultivation methods, spells, talismans, and the five elements shaping your choices. Press the attack or retreat while you can. A hard fight soon tells you whether you packed enough pills. Secret realms only stay open for so long; better rewards may lie deeper inside, but leave yourself time to get out.

Living longer takes time

Seclusion, travel, and sect work all use up your lifespan. A breakthrough grants more years without giving back the ones you have spent. You might be close to a new realm when a friend calls for help, or find yourself years older after chasing ingredients for another batch of pills. Decide what matters enough to spend this life on.

Try a different life next time

Old age, defeat, or a failed tribulation can end a life. Choose what to pass on: an heirloom, pills, or dao resonance that improves your next incarnation's aptitude. Then test your roots and begin again. Try another cultivation method, another sect, another way through the world. For journeys with set goals, Record of the Past offers ten chapters, each following someone else's life.

Make the map you want to explore

Choose a built-in world or generate a random map in a range of sizes. In the Map Workshop, you can draw terrain and rivers, lay spirit paths, and place sects and secret realms before starting a life on your creation. When you are happy with it, share your map through Steam Workshop.
