About This Game

Take command of a chartered trading company in Royal West India Company, a turn-based strategy game of exploration, commerce, settlement, and colonial rivalry. Beginning in 1621, your Crown grants the Company a revocable charter to establish colonies, conduct trade, and advance its interests in the New World.

Survey unknown coasts, found settlements, recruit specialists, and turn scattered outposts into a prosperous colonial enterprise. Manage food, raw materials, and industry; organize trade routes; and carry colonial goods to Europe. Attract new settlers and build Company Loyalty among your growing population.

Rival companies compete for land, markets, and influence, while their monarchs establish and govern Crown colonies of their own. Company diplomacy and royal politics are intertwined: wars between monarchs can draw their companies into conflict, while commercial rivalries can erupt separately.

Trade with Indigenous villages, exchange gifts, establish missions, learn local skills, or face raids and war as expansion strains relations. Appoint historical figures to your Company Council and use their abilities to shape your strategy.

Your charter expires at the end of 1799. Build a self-sustaining colonial enterprise, earn the confidence of your population, and prove the Company indispensable enough for the Crown to renew its charter in perpetuity.
