Leaving Early Access: Nov 1, 2026

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Mega Mouse is a passion project I originally began in 2016 while learning Unreal Engine. Over the years, the game has gone through many forms as I developed my skills as a solo developer. Current events have given the game's themes and story a new relevance, and I feel the time is right to finally get Mega Mouse into players' hands.
Early Access allows me to begin building an audience and generating attention while I continue creating the additional content planned for the full game. Just as importantly, player feedback is essential. I want to see which mechanics players enjoy, which parts may be confusing or too challenging, and which elements may feel repetitive or like a chore.
Mega Mouse is being developed entirely by me, with no AI-generated game content. Its themes explore AI, data centers, and their potential impact on the world through a fictional and metaphorical story.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Mega Mouse to remain in Early Access for at least 6 months, and potentially longer depending on how development progresses.
The Early Access version currently contains one substantial Data Center designed to introduce nearly all of the game's foundational mechanics. My goal is to expand the game to approximately 6–8 hours of gameplay across roughly 12 levels and 12 different Data Centers.
During Early Access, I plan to release additional levels regularly, with a target of adding at least a couple of new levels each month.
The length of Early Access will ultimately depend on the development of that content and the feedback we receive along the way. I would rather take the time necessary to make the full game something I'm proud of than rush it to a predetermined release date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version establishes the foundation of Mega Mouse rather than representing the full scope of the game. The first Data Center introduces the game's fundamental mechanics, including integrated hacking, 3D platforming and air dashing, combat, vehicles, puzzles, enemies, power-ups, and the Mega Pod.
The full game will build organically on those fundamentals. Each new Data Center will introduce new challenges, environments, enemies, gameplay systems, and story elements rather than simply repeating the same formula. As the game progresses, the gameplay will continue to escalate and require the player to combine the abilities they've learned in new ways.
I am also considering a skill-point upgrade system that would allow players to improve abilities such as air dashes, rockets, health, and shields, as well as potentially unlock special abilities. This system is still under consideration and is not a final feature commitment.
The story will also continue to unfold throughout the Data Centers. During Early Access, much of the story will be revealed through emails and messages discovered by Mega Mouse. The full game may expand this further with animated dialogue between Mega Mouse, the Shadow Cats, and their leader, Top Hat Rat.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access build contains one large, fully playable Data Center that takes approximately 30–45 minutes to complete.
Rather than being simply a tutorial, this first Data Center is designed to give players a strong understanding of the game's identity and nearly all of its fundamental mechanics.
Players can hack directly through the environment using Mega Mouse's special technology, fight enemies with a laser and rocket launcher, combine rockets and laser fire, experience dynamic ragdoll physics, navigate large 3D environments with air dashes, transform into the Mega Ball for high-speed sequences, and pilot the Mega Pod through space.
The Data Center also contains hacking puzzles, teleporting drones, laser defenses, Shadow Cats with different combat behaviors and shields, and temporary power-ups such as the Time Bubble. The player's ultimate objective is to reach and destroy the Quantum Core Crystal at the center of the facility before making their escape.
The game already has a solid and polished foundation. The primary purpose of Early Access is to expand that foundation into a much larger game while refining the experience through player feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes.
The Early Access version currently contains approximately 30–45 minutes of gameplay, but represents the foundation of a much larger game. As additional Data Centers, levels, gameplay systems, and story content are added, the amount of content and overall value of the game will increase.
The final price may be adjusted as development progresses.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be an important part of Mega Mouse's Early Access development.
I plan to follow player discussions, reviews, and feedback closely, while also watching gameplay from streamers and content creators who receive Early Access keys through Keymailer and other platforms.
Watching people actually play the game can reveal things that are difficult to discover during development—mechanics that are confusing, areas that are too difficult, or sections that players find repetitive or tedious. I'll be paying close attention to those patterns and using that information to help refine future levels and mechanics.
The game's themes surrounding AI, data centers, and their impact on society are also intended to generate discussion. I expect players will have plenty of opinions about those ideas, and I'm interested in hearing what they think.
Ultimately, Mega Mouse is my creative vision, and I will make the final decisions about the direction of the game. But I'll put my ego aside, listen honestly to criticism, and seriously evaluate good ideas when they come from the community.”

About This Game

Players take control of Mega Mouse, a highly advanced android who's mission it is to infiltrate and destroy the core processing unit of the Shadow Cat's Data Centers across the Milky Way Galaxy.

Mega Mouse is a 3rd Person Action/Adventure game with puzzle elements.
Set in a haunting dystopian nightmare ruled by the Shadow Cats and their artificial intelligence technology.

The Shadow Cats, with their lust for absolute power and mischievous curiosity, have constructed thousands of Data Centers across the Milky Way to power their armies of robots... and make silly cartoons.

Unfortunately, these Data Centers are destroying the fabric of space and creating black holes and other space anomalies that threaten the very foundation of reality. The Shadow Cats must be stopped!

  • Experience puzzles in the form of computer hacking to access areas previous denied.

  • Run, fly and roll through the Shadow Cats's Data Centers, as Mega Mouse takes on a variety of forms.

  • Linear, arcade like gameplay with intuitive control and non-stop action.

  • Use your Laser Rifle & Rocket Launcher to fight the Shadow Cats.
