This is Nico, and after over 5 years of working on Sunset Hills, I’m thrilled to finally share this journey with you—Sunset Hills is officially live on Steam!

This journey has been one filled with discovery, emotions, and countless puzzles, and I can’t wait for you to dive into the world we’ve created. From meeting cherished characters to uncovering hidden secrets, I hope you find as much joy in this adventure as I have.

  • Added a toggle for the DoF in the settings menu
  • Added Breakable Objects
  • Added Objects Broken to the tracked statistics
  • Added Lockers, physics props that you can bust the locks off of to get rewards
  • Added Explosive Barrels
  • Barrels re-enable damage from coins that they launch
  • Added targets that spawn randomly that reward the player with explosive barrels when hit

  • Coins can no longer live forever by laying on top of a breakable object like a locker
  • Fixed a save file corruption
  • Fixed lockers counting as gems when killed
Beyond the Portal: Island's Salvation - exofirogames
This update includes a few improvements and minor adjustments to enhance the gameplay experience:

-Fixed several text issues.
-The CG Room option has been relocated.
-Updated the VisuStella image plugin and added an option in the house book to manually attempt to fix the error if it reappears.
-Changed the name "Rock" to "Large Stone" to avoid confusion.
-Made some small additional adjustments to improve gameplay.

The name of the game over the past month has been user-friendliness and optimization. There's a bunch of minor changes and it's time to pass those on to the demo:

Gameplay:
  • You can tell your group to "Run" or "Zone" (e.g. /group Run!) and they'll beeline for the nearest zoneline. If a group member zones, the whole group is zoned out. This can save you from a wipe.
  • AI and Pathing is heavily optimized for lower framerate systems including SteamDeck.
  • Strafe is now available for keybinds in the options menu
  • 2H Weapon buffs
  • NPC sound effect levels normalized
  • Vendors won't sell to you if they're attacking you
  • NPCs won't talk to you if they're attacking you
  • Heals dont land on dead group members
  • Fixed a bug that would cause a puller to get stuck sometimes
  • If a SimPlayer can't revive, he'll say in group chat what criteria he's not meeting. (For bug reporting, sometimes they get stuck as 'dead').
  • Dying during a spell cast now interrupts the spell
  • Autorun (Numlock by default, not rebindable yet)
  • Shields now have "Effect on Attacks" on them - these proc during shield bash, and less often but sometimes during a successful block.

UI
  • Items on the cursor now show when the inventory is closed
  • New combat window featuring DPS outputs for each party member
  • UI performance greatly increased
  • Built in UI to load backup save files in the event of corruption
  • NPC names face the correct direction in first person view
  • Target window now shows target's status effects
  • SimPlayer inspect window updates in real time if you give them gear


Visuals

  • Atmosphere colors changed to be less intense on sunny days where they'd wash out visuals

Other
  • Full rewrite of Save / Load system for more 'bulletproof' saving and loading.
