Hi there, we hope you’ve had a wonderful Next Fest!

We’ve been reading your feedback and working on some general bug fixes for the demo:

  • Fixed an issue where Wolfe would fail to join the party again after a game over.

  • Fixed an issue where using an item would sometimes heal enemies instead of the player.

  • Fixed a softlock caused by quitting episode 1 and immediately starting over.

  • Fixed a softlock in the treasure/power up menu. It wouldn’t spawn the accept button if you changed resolutions in settings.

  • Fixed an issue with controllers that would invert enemy targets selection, if there were 3 or more in the battle.

  • Added a new action total feature, where you can see how much damage your action will inflict if it’s normal, weak, or resist.

  • Added letter-boxing for ultra wide resolutions, maintaining the correct aspect ratio of 16:9 the game was designed for.

  • Fixed undefeated run appearing as 0 in episode end results, when it should display the bonus value.

  • Fixed the SP button spawning a placeholder button icon during tutorials if you used a mouse.

  • Fixed challenge mode special conditions repeating for all combats in the same map.

  • Fixed challenge mode special condition that inflicts bleed with weaks, now affects all actors.

  • Fixed a rare instance where the dark overlay of the pause menu would remain active after closing the pause menu.

  • Fixed Ringo’s landing animation smoke VFX. The Shader displayed a border around the smoke that looked very weird.

  • Fixed an issue with the combat deed “First turn finish”. It would occasionally reward the player with honor even after several turns passed.

1) Corrupted Environment

New environment for the Final Region.

Floor tiles do damage equal to corruption level whenever a non-corrupted enter or end a turn in these tiles. (corrupted units are not affected).

2) New items

Sorcerer's Tunic: -10 AP cost for all spells. +20 Elemental Resistance

Sorcerer's Helm: +1 Range for all spells. +10 Elemental Resistance

3) Skill Hotkeys

Activate any action of the top row with keys F1 to F12, bottom row with numbers from 1 to 0.

For actions that do not require target, it will ask you to press the same key again to confirm.

By default, keys are not shown (for aesthethic reasons). Once you press any hotkey, all of them become visible for the entire turn.

4) Re-roll main rewards

You'll get 3 new options (from the same category).

The chance of corrupted rewards appearing is calculated again on rerolling.

5) Notifications when unlocking a new class or new skills

6) Game progress bar

Fill the stage slots as you progress through the run (the current stage flickers).

Length varies depending on game mode.

7) Combat balancing

Energy Orb: Momentum gain now scales with item level

Slash: Now applies 2 stacks of bleed (used to be 1)

Goblin Thief: Can steal up to 100 upgrade points from the opposite squad (ability)

Tribal Hunter: Slightly reduced Accuracy, Evasion, Physical Strength and Base Damage

Hello Night Drivers!

It's been a while. After the last patch, I needed to take a break from the project. At the same time, I started a new job that required more focus from me.

Nevertheless, I haven't forgotten about Midnight Racer! Today, I'm bringing an update to the PvP mode that introduces a new mechanic – Antiboosts!

As of now, there are 3 Antiboosts in the game:

  • Trojan – For the next 5 seconds, your opponent loses score instead of gaining it.

  • Fan – Launches the opponent into the air.

  • Delete Button – Removes all collectibles in the opponent’s vicinity.

Depending on your feedback, I’ll adjust how frequently they spawn and possibly add more variety. I might even introduce new antiboosts.

In addition, this break gave me a fresh perspective on the game, and I started noticing various bugs and inconveniences in controls and general navigation in the game menus. These have also been addressed.

Thank you Night Drivers for your patience and support! I assure you, the game has not been abandoned and will continue to receive long-term support. My energy is slowly returning, and I’m getting ready to work on new track variants and take a closer look at car perks.

We've had a big influx of new players and new wishlists overnight - another special thanks to all you legends out there :D

Another big thanks goes out to @itswill for trying out the game on his Twitch stream, and to @jcubed100 for making our first ever YouTube playthrough!

This hotfix addresses some pretty spoiler heavy stuff that affected some gameplay and story progression. Notes below:
— Fixed issue where Start Menu music wouldn't loop. Yippie!
— Fixed issue where contracts would mistakenly auto-complete after serving any following customer a "special" hot dog
— Fixed issue where savescumming before a work day started would trigger the work timer in the apartment
— Fixed issue where game would save past the gala, which was never intended. Continuing on previous saves past day 29 may result in bugs, I recommend starting a new game on either Story or Freeplay mode if you wish to keep playing!
— Fixed typos for some dialogue and a clue in a secret area
— Adjusted odds of "special" customers appearing, they previously appeared a little too often
— Implemented safety check for a frame perfect bug that involves a pack of hot dogs and closing the cabinet. If someone else encounters this issue, please submit a bug report detailing steps to recreate!
