Thank you all for being so patient with us as we work on fixes for the game. We're excited to announce our first community event: WINTER SIEGE. We also have info about the next PC update coming to you this Friday.
Welcome to the Call of Duty: WWII Winter Siege Event, where winter has arrived in full force. Your mission begins in Headquarters, where the snow has already begun to fall. Captain Butcher, of the British Special Air Service forces has arrived at the Quartermaster with an inventory of cold weather gear suited for the frigid weeks ahead. Pick up your payroll, grab your winter contracts, gear up, and get ready to head into battle.
December 1944 was marked by bitterly cold weather across Europe. It is also remembered for the last major German offensive of World War II – The Battle of the Bulge. Cold, hungry, and tired, the Allied forces bore the brunt of the attack and incurred their hardest fighting of any operation during the war.
One of the first stops will be Carentan, France. Carentan is in the grip of a snow storm, and under siege by a counterinsurgent German Wehrmacht force. It will require all your training to liberate this important port city and a major crossroad for the Allied operations. Winter Carentan will be free for all players starting on Friday throughout the Winter Siege event. With Winter Mosh Pit and Gun Game modes coming, new winter weapons, gear, emblems, 2XP events, and more surprises, Winter Siege is packed with plenty of excitement throughout the month of December. Be sure to stay tuned to our channels for more information and announcements, beginning December 8th at 10AM PST. And for the full Winter Siege schedule of events visit https://www.callofduty.com/wwii/winter-siege.
We’re finalizing an update that will go live for the Call of Duty: WWII PC version on Friday, December 8 at 10AM PST. This update addresses some of the top observed community feedback on Steam and Reddit, and will activate PC Ranked Play – Season 1: The Placement Season. In addition, we’re activating the enhanced Emblem Editor feature and adding various fixes to improve Discord support. Be on the lookout for this update on Friday via our Steam forum with a full list of Game Updates.
When it comes to feedback, as always, it is greatly appreciated and extremely helpful for us as we continue to make updates and improve the game. So please continue reaching out to us and commenting on the game, whether it’s on Twitter @SHGames, Facebook, the WWII subreddit, or here on Steam. The more constructive, descriptive, and detailed – the better!
Happy Thanksgiving week, PC community! During this holiday in the US, we celebrate everything we are grateful for in our lives. At Sledgehammer Games, we are incredibly thankful for the support of the Call of Duty: WWII community. We’re also very appreciative for the patience and feedback you have given us since we launched the game. As a gesture of our thanks, we’re kicking off a Thanksgiving 2XP weekend a day early. We’re activating Double XP for all MP Modes starting at 10am PST Wednesday, November 22, and continuing through 10am PST Monday, November 27. We look forward to celebrating the long weekend with you and we’ll see you online!
The development team has been working incredibly hard since launch to continue improving the online experience, and making in-game tuning adjustments based on the enormous amount of match data we’ve collected. We worked to redeploy our dedicated servers globally on all platforms last week, with stability and speed of connection (ping) being our top priorities. We were able to address a number of important things noted in previous blog posts, and we remain 100% committed to providing the best possible online game experience for the entire community.
The core game experience will always be our #1 priority, but we also wanted to let you know about many feature updates and community events in the works.
Winter Carentan Map – Our first Seasonal Community Event for Call of Duty: WWII titled “Winter Siege” starts 10am PST on Friday, December 8, and will run through December. There’s a ton packed into this special event, but one thing that we’re particularly excited about is Winter Carentan. One of the most beloved maps in Call of Duty history is now set in the cold and snowy winter of 1944 and will be free to all players for a limited time during the event and will be added to all MP game modes. Be sure to check out Domination and Hardpoint, they’re two of our studio favorites for Winter Carentan. We can’t wait to play online with you. Also, we have weekly Winter Siege rewards for players that join us throughout the event, and we’ll have more to share in the coming weeks.
Emblem Editor For PC – Emblem Editor will launch on PC with PC-specific features on December 8.
Game Updates – Next week, we’ll have a game update that contains many important changes including map exploit fixes, UI improvements, fixes to issues with Party, connectivity optimizations, and more. Listening to fans and looking at global match data, we adjusted the BAR (increased recoil), reduced the flinch-reduction in the Primed Basic Training, fixed the “snaking” exploit while crouching and proning repeatedly, and fixed an important bug with the smoke grenade. We are currently play testing a reduced flinch over all weapon primaries, and will look to update once we verify the balance across all weapons remains. Stay tuned for more exciting news on changes coming, including new game modes launching during our Winter Siege event.
In addition, there are many feature-specific and backend-related updates that our teams are addressing daily. You can find the latest info and updates on our social channels. We’re always on the lookout for all of your feedback, so please continue sharing it with us at @SHGames on Twitter, Facebook, and our official Call of Duty: WWII Subreddit and Steam forums. For Customer Service related issued, please reach out to Activision Support on Twitter and the support website.
There’s much more to come. Thanks for being on this incredible journey with us. - Sledgehammer Games
Welcome to our Game Update! It’s been great seeing all the feedback you’re providing for our game! Thank you for taking the time to do so. We’ve been tracking issues here on Steam as they arise on our end and have pushed an update to address some of your top concerns.
First and foremost – cheating. Cheaters and hackers create a plethora of issues in-game and ruin the overall experience for everyone. We are committed to banning those who exploit the game to gain advantage over other players. However, you all are integral to our process, and we appreciate your help. We deployed an update earlier this morning to address several issues on the PC. We will also issue our comprehensive Game Update in a few hours, which will address several issues we’ve been tracking.
Please continue to share your feedback with us, as it does help us improve the experience. We are constantly monitoring @SHGames on Twitter, Facebook and on the official Call of Duty: WWII Reddit as well as with Activision Support on Twitter and the support website.

First off, thank you so much for your patience as we continue to work to optimize the experience for PC. We'd like to share this update with you.
We want to reinforce our commitment to PC fans. We have the next PC Title Update ready to go, but we believe we need to work through the issues noted above first – many of which also affect PC players. For this reason, we’ll wait a bit longer before deploying the patch to the PC in order to ensure everything is the way it needs to be first.
As always, we want to keep the dialogue flowing with the Call of Duty community. We have our eyes and ears open for all of your feedback – please continue sharing it with us here on Steam, at @SHGames on Twitter, Facebook and on the official Call of Duty: WWII Reddit as well as with Activision Support on Twitter and the support website.
This is only the beginning, so thank you for playing. We won’t rest until we resolve everything we can for the community.
We have some news for you regarding Discord. We know that a large portion of our PC community uses Discord regularly, so we’re excited to announce that our teams are working hard to support Discord Rich Presence features as soon as possible. We know this will help improve the overall game experience for a lot of you. Among other firsts for Discord and Call of Duty, once Discord Rich Presence is live, you will be able to jump right into your friends' games straight from Discord, even when you are not part of the same Steam lobby. Look for more updates on our planned integration with Discord in the days to come.
We also have a patch and full patch notes coming soon, so keep an eye out for an announcement. Thanks for your continued patience!
UPDATE: Our PC Title Update has been delayed for a short time as we continue to add to it and run tests, but it is definitely coming your way. Hang tight! We'll post more information tomorrow.
